Indonesia to Offer More Energy Blocks in North Sumatra

AET and PTLCL Sign MOU for Zero-emission Aframax

Canada and UAE First to Back Maritime Green Fuel Initiative

Prysmian Group Wins MidEast Submarine Cable Contract

Prysmian Group entered into a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) for the supply of power cables in the context of a landmark  HVDC submarine cable project in the Middle East, worth around $252m. DONG Energy Appoints CEO for E&P

Søren Gath Hansen will step down as Group Executive Vice President and CEO for E&P. His successor is David B. Cook who comes from a position as Executive Officer and Head of Oil & Gas at the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company, TAQA. Søren Gath Hansen will continue in DONG Energy as head of the group's Quality, Health, Safety and Environment activities (QHSE). Søren Gath Hansen said, "I have worked for DONG Energy for more than 30 years and throughout the past 12 years I have had the privilege to head the build-up of the oil and gas business which has become a strong player in the North Sea with a daily production of more than 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent.

Wärtsilä to Set-up Indonesia's first bio-LNG plant

Wärtsilä and two Indonesian partners have today signed a joint development agreement with the intention of creating the first ever bio-LNG plant in Indonesia. The co-signers of the agreement with Wärtsilä are PT Pertamina (Persero), a national energy company, and PT Godang Tua Jaya (GTJ), a waste utilization sector specialist company. Wärtsilä Oil & Gas Systems (WOGS) will conduct a feasibility study for the project to develop a mini bio-LNG plant with a capacity of 0,75 tons/hour, which corresponds to approximately 4 MW/hour in electrical production. The plant will process municipal solid waste into eco-friendly biogas for use as a renewable energy source for typical vehicle fuel. In addition to the feasibility study, WOGS will provide technological support and an economic assessment.

StealthGas Announces Newbuilds, New Vessel Contracts

StealthGas Inc., a ship-owning company primarily serving the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) sector of the international shipping industry, announced today as part of its fleet expansion program the acquisition of two newbuilding LPG vessels. The company exercised the acquisition options with a Korean yard and the additions to the fleet consist of two 22,000 cbm semi refrigerated eco LPG carriers scheduled to be delivered in the second and third quarter of 2017, respectively. The company expects that the acquisition of these larger semi refrigerated eco LPG carriers that can load LPG with high ethane content, will complement well its already leading position in pressurized vessels.

Oil Firms Opt for Stability, Urge Scotland to Stay in UK

Reuters - Royal Dutch Shell has become the second energy heavyweight to urge Scotland to stay in the United Kingdom as the campaign for Scottish independence battles mounting opposition from businesses. Shell is a key player in the North Sea oil and gas fields off Scotland and its Chief Executive Ben van Beurden said a vote for independence on Sept. 18 would mean greater uncertainty for the energy industry. Last month, the boss of BP warned Scottish independence could cause "uncertainties" for his company. Other oil companies in the North Sea on Thursday stressed the importance of predictability for their operations, joining a growing number of financial services companies voicing concerns about the impact of independence but avoiding political comment.

New Canadian LNG Terminal Becoming Real

Pacific Northwest LNG awards FEED contract, takes next step toward an LNG export terminal island on Lelu Island, near Port Edward. The front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract will see three firms working together to design the terminal and work on feasibility studies in the Port Edward area, were awarded to  Bechtel, a KBR/JGC joint venture, and a Technip/Samsung Engineering/China Huanqiu joint venture, reports 'The Northern View'. The FEED and Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning bid is expected to be complete by August 2014.  At the end of 2014 Pacific NorthWest LNG partners, Malaysia's national energy company, PETRONAS and Japex, plan to make the final investment decision on the project. Gulf O&G Tech Collaboration Debated

More than 30 oil and gas organisztions in the Middle East will gather to discuss the opportunities and challenges of collaborating on technology development in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council). The event, organised by ITF, the technology facilitator for the global oil and gas industry and  sponsored by Kuwait Oil Company, will take place in Abu Dhabi on Monday February 27. ITF, a membership organization of international oil and gas operator and service companies, is  encouraging companies in the GCC to focus on the need for collaborative oil and gas technology funding and agree commitment to drive forward with a strategy for the region. Neil Poxon, managing director of ITF will outline the benefits of driving new groundbreaking technologies through joint industry projects.

TENC-CA UK North Sea Sale & Transfer

Shell U.K. Limited (Shell),Esso Exploration and Production UK Limited, (ExxonMobil), Mobil North Sea LLC (ExxonMobil) and Enterprise Oil U.K. Limited (Shell) completed the final sale and transfer of a number of northern North Sea assets to TAQA Bratani Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC (TAQA) on Dec. 1, 2008. The assets include equity and operatorship of Tern, Kestrel, Eider, Pelican, Cormorant North and South Cormorant fields (TENC-CA) and related infrastructure, a non-operated interest in Hudson, and equity interests in the Sullom Voe Terminal and Brent System. TAQA Bratani will assume responsibility for the decommissioning liabilities relating to these fields and infrastructure.
