Total to Set Up LNG Bunkering Hub in Oman

French energy group Total said it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Oman to develop natural gas resources in the country."Total and Shell as operator will develop several natural gas discoveries located in the Greater Barik area on onshore Block 6 with respective shares of 25 percent and 75 percent, as per the agreement between both companies and before possible State back-in, with the objective of an initial gas production of around 500 MMcfd and a potential to reach 1 bcf/d at a later stage," Total said in a press release on Sunday."Total will use its equity gas entitlement as feedstock to develop in Oman a regional hub for liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering service to supply LNG as a fuel to marine vessels.

Shell, Total to Develop Gas Project in Oman

Total has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Oman to develop natural gas resources in Oman. This MoU covers both upstream and downstream businesses. Total and Shell as operator will develop several natural gas discoveries located in the Greater Barik area on onshore Block 6 with respective shares of 25% and 75%, as per the agreement between both companies and before possible State back-in, with the objective of an initial gas production of around 500 MMcfd and a potential to reach 1 bcf/d at a later stage. Van Oord Bags Two Egyptian Offshore Deals

Van Oord has been awarded two contracts by international contractor Subsea 7. The assignments include the construction of a landfall and the execution of subsea rock installation works in Egypt. The projects are part of the West Nile Delta project, which comprises the development of a series of gas fields, located 65 km off the northern coast of Egypt. Final client is oil and gas company BP. Preparations on site have already started. The landfall scope of work consists of the installation of a cofferdam, trenching and pipe pull activities and will be executed in 2017. The landfall location is at the Burrulus terminal near Idku, 50 km from Alexandria. Van Oord will deploy a trailing suction hopper dredger, backhoe dredger and 600 tonnes winch.

RWE Dea Awarded Two New Concessions in Egypt

In the International Bid Round 2013, RWE Dea has been awarded two new offshore concessions with operatorship by the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC). The concessions are located in the Gulf of Suez, where the company is producing oil as operator for more than 30 years. Dea will become operator of two new concessions in the Gulf of Suez. Dea will hold a share of 100% of the East Ras Fanar Offshore and 50% of the Northwest El Amal concession, with Edison International SpA holding the remaining 50%. “We are very pleased with the result of the latest Bid Round, as both new concessions provide a valuable addition to our balanced oil and gas license portfolio in Egypt,” says Maximilian Fellner, General Manager RWE Dea Egypt.

Plan to Ship Mozambique LNG to India

Offshore energy companies operating in Mozambique plan to ship gas to India Energy companies operating in Mozambique, which reported one of the world's biggest natural gas discoveries in recent years, are eyeing the vast Indian market and have started discussions with state energy firms, hoping that the African nation will follow Qatar's footsteps in shipping vast quantities of gas to India, reports the Economic Times of India. Videocon International and public sectorBharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL), which hold 10% each in six blocks in the deep-water Rovuma Basin, off the Mozambique coast in Africa, are interested in selling gas in India. The basin may hold 30 trillion cubic feet of gas, which can be liquefied and transported to Asia.

Chevron Natural Gas Find in Australia

Chevron Corp. announced further drilling success in the Carnarvon Basin offshore Western Australia, Australia's premier hydrocarbon basin. The Acme-1 exploration discovery well is located in the WA-205-P permit area offshore Western Australia approximately 93 miles (150 km) from Onslow. Drilled in 2,880 feet (878 m) of water to a depth of 15,469 feet (4,715 m), the well encountered approximately 896 feet (273 m) of net gas pay. George Kirkland, vice chairman, Chevron, said, "In terms of net gas pay, Acme-1 is one of our most significant natural gas discoveries in Australia. Jim Blackwell, president, Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production, said, "We are realizing the opportunities we have as a leading lease holder in the Carnarvon Basin.

BP has Hopes for Libya Gas Exploration

British oil and gas company BP is hopeful of making good natural gas discoveries in Libya and plans to begin exploring there later this year, Reuters reported. BP and Libya signed a gas exploration deal last year that marked the return of the world's third-largest fully publicly traded oil firm by market value to the north African oil exporter after a 30-year break. Last year, BP said it would drill 17 exploration wells across a large area of 13.3 million acres with an initial exploration budget of $900m. Libya has attracted interest from international oil firms since 2004, when the United States and European Union eased sanctions following Libya's agreement not to pursue nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.

Conoco Leading the Way for Gulf of Mexico Shuttle Tankers

Seahorse Shuttling and Technology LLC, a wholly owned entity of Conoco, has completed the functional design of a new tanker for shuttling crude oil from the deepwater Gulf of Mexico to shore. double-hulled "GoMAX 550(TM)" shuttle tanker will be capable of transporting 550,000 barrels of crude oil. With a 40-foot draft, the new shuttle tanker will be able to enter most ports in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. "A major challenge of producing new crude oil discoveries in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico has been developing efficient means of transportation to U.S. refineries," said Antonio Valdes, manager of Conoco Marine. The GoMAX 550(TM) design is the result of a shipbuilding alliance between Conoco, Alabama Shipyard of Mobile, Ala., and Samsung Shipbuilding and Heavy Industries of South Korea.
