Abu Dhabi Ship Building Expands Facilities

Abu Dhabi Ship Building has announced that it is stepping up its focus on maintenance, repairs and overhauling services, which has been one of the fastest-growing business divisions of the company. Abu Dhabi Ship Building is currently showcasing its advanced MRO capabilities at the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition & Conference (DIMDEX), the only specialized maritime defense exhibition in the Middle East, being held from March 26 to 28, 2012, at the Qatar National Convention Centre. Each year, Abu Dhabi Ship Building handles approximately 300 repair and upgrade projects for vessels like tugs, barges, landing craft, dredgers, work boats, crew boats, diving vessels, supply and safety vessels and anchor handling tug boats.

Abu Dhabi Ship Building launches ‘Mezyad’ as fourth vessel of Baynunah Corvette Class Program for the UAE Navy. Abu Dhabi Ship Building completes expansion of facility to accommodate more vessels for fit outs, tests and trials. Abu Dhabi Ship Building, the leading shipbuilder and naval support services provider in the Gulf region and a strategic affiliate of Mubadala, has today (Wednesday, February 15, 2012) launched “Mezyad”, the fourth vessel of the Baynunah Corvette Class Program for the UAE Navy and the third vessel under the Baynunah fleet constructed by Abu Dhabi Ship Building.

ADSB, Next Phase of Corvette Class Program

Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), the leading shipbuilder and naval support services provider in the Arabian Gulf region, has commenced the next phase of its Baynunah Corvette Class pride Program constructions for the UAE Navy. The Prime Contractor has moved the second vessel from the assembly hall where it will pass through its final systems outfitting in preparation for its launching sometimes later in this year where it will go through an intensive acceptance trials prior to the final delivery to the UAE Navy. The First Of Class has already been launched in mid 2009.

New Company to Support Gulf Navies

Gulf Logistics and Naval Support LLC (GLNS), a new Abu Dhabi-based company, was launched on July 27, offering a complete range of support services to maritime defense forces and other vessel operators in the GCC region. GLNS has been set up in a joint venture by Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) with a 70% shareholding and the UK’s BVT Surface Fleet which will hold 30%. Together the companies provide a powerful combination of regional presence, established naval shipbuilding and support capability, and unparalleled experience in providing through-life naval support services.

Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding Plans Naval Venture

According to a report from Emirates Business 24/7, Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding (ADSB) said on July 15 that it was planning to create a joint venture focusing on providing naval support services in the region. The company's board of directors said it approved documents related to the project but gave no details. (Source: Emirates Business 24/7)

ADSB and RR Set up Waterjet Support Service Center in Abu Dhabi

and Rolls-Royce Marine Middle East announced an agreement to set up a Waterjet Center of Excellence in to provide support services to its customers in the Arabian Gulf Region. ADSB is the only naval shipyard in the , providing both build and support services for all Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) naval vessels. Rolls-Royce will work with ADSB to offer services such as training, maintenance, repairs and overhauls, spare parts and service contracts for waterjet customers. These services can also be offered to Commercial Ship Owners operating vessels that have waterjet propulsion.
