New Program Makes it Easier to Ship Cars at Port Everglades

Crowley Maritime has helped launch a pilot Vehicle Validation Export Process Program that now allows shippers to submit original vehicle export documentation electronically instead of delivering physical copies to a local customs trade office. The automated program, which is the first of its kind anywhere in the country, is currently being offered in Port Everglades to exporters shipping used vehicles from South Florida to destinations throughout the Caribbean, Central America and beyond. Crowley was a critical player in developing the test program, which kicked off earlier this month. The test program offers several key advantages.

Florida's First Ocean-to-Air Transhipment

Already the busiest port of entry in America for international air freight, Miami International Airport will soon be able to receive perishable freight imports by sea as well – a first for any Florida airport – through a permit approved in September by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Charleston Port Joins USDA Cold Treatment Program

Crowley Maritime Corp.’s Miami-based subsidiary specializing in Customs clearance of imported perishable apparel and refrigerated products, said it could begin clearing certain produce requiring cold-treatment from Peru, Uruguay and Argentina into the Port of Charleston, S.C. as early as this Spring. Crowley Announces More Organizational Changes

Crowley Maritime Corporation has announced  additional organizational realignments within its shipping and logistics team effective Jan. 1, including the appointment of Nelly Yunta to vice president of sales, marketing and customer care, and the promotion of Pete Noyer to vice president of national accounts reporting to Yunta. Yunta, who most recently held the role of vice president of Customized Brokers, Crowley’s Miami-based customs brokerage subsidiary, will relocate from Miami to Jacksonville, Fla., for the position, but will continue to oversee Customized Brokers' operations in her new position. She will report to Frank Larkin, who was also recently promoted to the position of senior vice president and general manager for Crowley’s logistics division.

Christopher Ryan Joins Customized Brokers as Perishables Logistics Specialist. Customized Brokers, the Miami-based customs brokerage specializing in the clearance of fresh produce into the United States, has named Christopher Ryan as perishables logistics specialist for the Northeast. He is based in Pennsauken, N.J., and reports to Customized Brokers General Manager Nelly Yunta. In this position, Ryan is responsible for business development, customer service, and maintaining relationships with terminals, government agencies and industry associations in the Northeast, including those in Delaware, Pennsylvania and parts of New York. Kattán de Jordán and Sweep Awarded Thomas Crowley Trophies

Claudia Kattán de Jordán, general manager, Honduras and Nicaragua, for Crowley Maritime Corporation's liner services group, and Cal Sweep, director of facilities development for the corporation in Jacksonville, were awarded 2005 Thomas Crowley trophies, the company's highest honor, at ceremonies last week in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Created 20 years ago, the Thomas Crowley Trophy award honors employees with outstanding performance, whose dedication, leadership, initiative and productivity most clearly reflect those of the company's founder. The trophy, a limited edition, bronze sculpture depicting young Thomas Crowley as he ferried goods to and from ships on San Francisco Bay in the early 1890s, is a tribute to the founder of the company as well as the winners of the award.

Yunta Promoted to GM at Crowley

Crowley Maritime Corporation announced today that Nelly Yunta has been promoted to general manager Dominican Republic/Haiti for the company's liner services group. In her new position, Yunta will be responsible for the coordination of sales, marketing, and operations activities for the Dominican Republic and Haiti; overseeing development of policies and procedures; reviewing operating results; establishing annual revenue and capital and budgets; coordinating and negotiating contractor and service provider agreements and developing business relations. She will remain domiciled in the company's Miami office and will report to John Hourihan, senior vice president and general manager, Latin America services.
