Association of Dutch Shipowners (KVNR) has appointed Annet Koster as its new director from 1 March 2018. Annet Koster will join the shipowners' association ass the face of the KVNR, will make a strong case for Dutch shipping, said  the board chairmen Sibrand Hassing and Karin Orsel on 17 January during the New Year's reception of the association. "I especially want to get started to make Dutch shipping more broadly visible and to introduce people to this dynamic and traditional Dutch sector," says the brand new director.

Spill Control Association Names New Directors

The Spill Control Association of America (SCAA), a professional association representing oil spill removal organizations (OSRO), spill managers, qualified individuals, consultants, equipment and material manufacturers, distributors, insurers, and educational and governmental organizations, announced the appointment of three new SCAA Directors and the renewal of a fourth Director for another two-year term. The appointments were announced at the Annual Meeting on March 8 in Alexandria, Va.

New Director Proposed For Kværner ASA Board

The nomination committee of Kværner ASA has proposed Bjørn Flatgård as a new member of the company's Board. The proposal has been put forward after soundings were taken among Kvaerner's leading shareholders. "The nomination committee has made a point of proposing a director with industrial competence, international experience and integrity, and who moreover, will attend to the interests of all Kvaerner's shareholders," said Ragnhild M Wiborg, the committee head. The election of a new director will take place at Kvaerner's Annual General Meeting on 15 May. The vacancy on the Board arose in December 2001 when Helge Lund, having been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Kværner ASA, decided to resign from his seat on the Board. Bjørn Flatgård is Chief Executive Officer of Elopak AS.

P&I Club Strengthens Management

North of England P&I club strengthened its management team with the appointment of four new directors to the board of its wholly owned management company, North Insurance Management Limited (NIML). The now 13-strong NIML board is led by managing director Rodney Eccleston and deputy managing directors Paul Jennings and Alan Wilson. The newly appointed directors are financial controller Jeff O’Neill, underwriter Thya Kathiravel, admiralty claims specialist Colin Trappe and FD&D specialist Katherine Birchall. All were formerly associate directors.

Galbraith’s Names New Director

Galbraith's Ltd has expanded its board of directors with the appointment of Terry Parmenter, a highly experienced and well-known dry cargo chartering broker who joined Galbraith's seven years ago from SSY, where he was a senior director. Parmenter will additionally take on the role of Head of Dry Cargo, supported by director James Hall and by Martin Ashford.

ACL Establishes National Sales Force

American Commercial Lines Inc. announced it has established a national sales force in key geographic locations. The Regional Sales Directors include Mr. Vanta Coda -- Gulf Region, Mr. Gabe Forir -- Midwest Region, Mr. Michael Wiercinski -- MidAtlantic/Northeast, Mr. Neil Grossman -- Southeast Region, Mr. John Bryan -- Pittsburgh, and Mr. Sean Smith -- Ohio River Valley. The new directors have extensive backgrounds in rail, barge, 3PL logistics, chemical transportation, pulp and paper transportation, trucking, and truck brokerage.

Teekay Shipping Appoints New Director

Teekay Shipping has elected Eileen A. Mercier to its Board of Directors to fill the vacancy created by the retirement yesterday of Steve G.K. Hsu, who had served on Teekay's board since 1993. Mercier has more than 30 years experience in a variety of financial and strategic planning positions, including senior vice president and CFO for Abitib-Price from 1990 until 1995. Since then, Mercier has served as president of Finvoy Management, and is currently a director of numerous corporate and not-for-profit boards.

NOL Elects Deputy Chair And New Directors

NOL has named Cheng Wai Keung as deputy chairman, and has further expanded by appointing Marvin J. Girouard and Dr. Friedbert Malt as non-executive directors. Keung, who has been with NOL since 1992, has further developed his working knowledge of the company as a member of the executive committee since 1997, while Girouard, the current chairman and CEO of Pier One Imports, and Dr. Malt, a prominent German banker, both bring a wealth of knowledge to NOL's board.

Mahoney Joins WR Systems as Business Director

WR Systems Ltd. has announced Mark Mahoney as the new Director of Domestic Maritime Business. Mahoney comes to WR from Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine, where he spent almost 25 years honing his technical maritime expertise in a variety of roles, including  marketing, contracts and compliance. His most recent position was Service Manager for the Americas region.

Westerholm to Head NOAA Response and Restoration

Dave Westerholm, former chief of the U.S. Coast Guard's Office of Response, has been named the new director of the NOAA Office of Response and Restoration. Westerholm will be responsible for overseeing NOAA's efforts to prepare for and respond to environmental hazards caused by marine debris and the release of oil and chemicals into the nation's ocean and coastal waters. He began his position on Jan. 22.

Long Beach Port Appoints 3 Directors

The Board of Harbor Commissioners has approved the appointments of new directors for the Port of Long Beach’s Finance, Surveys and Transportation Planning divisions. Maurina Lee, previously the Harbor Department’s controller, will become the Director of Finance. She has been controller since March of last year and was previously finance manager for the city of Downey from 2006 to 2015. The Finance Division oversees an annual budget that is $829 million this fiscal year. It is part of the Finance and Administration Bureau.

Port Of Canaveral Adds New Directors

Continued growth and organizational restructuring has prompted the Canaveral Port Authority to add three new staff directors, including two newly created positions. Margi Starkey, the former Assistant Director of Finance, has been promoted to the new position of Director of Accounting. She will assist the Chief Financial Officer and oversee the installation and implementation of a new accounting system. Starkey has been employed with the Canaveral Port Authority for 10 years. Jerry Simon, the former Chief of Security, has been promoted to the new position of Director of Security in a reorganization of the Operations Department. Simon will run the Port's Security staff, which is responsible for badging and closed circuit television monitoring.

Baldwin Named Director of Business Development, Harbor Services

Barry Baldwin has been named the new Director of Business Development, Harbor Services for Foss Maritime Company. Baldwin, previously Regional Director, Southern California and an 18 year veteran of Foss will be based in Long Beach and report to Steve Scalzo, President and CEO of Foss Maritime Company. “Baldwin’s in-depth experience and knowledge of the Harbor Services market will significantly augment the development and expansion of current and new Harbor Services opportunities,” said Scalzo. Dave Selga has been promoted to Regional Director, Southern California to replace Baldwin. Selga, previously Marine Superintendent, has held various positions within the company over the last 20 years.

New Director Appointed at NMMC

National Maritime Museum Cornwall (NMMC) has appointed Jonathan Griffin as the new Director. He has held a number of commercial senior management roles during his career including: Marketing Services Director for the British Tourist Authority (BTA) and the English Tourist Board, Marketing Director of English Heritage and Commercial Manager of London Zoo and Whipsnade Park. For the past four years, he has been based in London working on the country’s public presentation overseas. As Director of the Britain Abroad Task Force he drew on his marketing background to help develop and co-ordinate a strategy for the public-facing work of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office…

Port of Marseilles Authority Names New Director-General

Guy Janin has been named the new director-general of the Port of Marseilles Authority. Janin, 58, has been head of the inland waterways authority Voies Navigables de France (VNF) since 2004. His nomination by the French minister of transport and maritime affairs was approved at a port board meeting on November 24 and is due to be formally ratified at a government cabinet meeting. Predecessor Eric Brassart, 56, stepped down in October following a sympathy strike by the port’s CGT union members opposing plans to privatize State ferry operator SNCM. The government marked his departure with praise for the port’s growth during his eight-year tenure and stressed that he is to be assigned to new tasks.

New Directors Elected at Aker Maritime

Aker Maritime's corporate assembly has elected Bengt A Rem and Olav Revhaug as the new shareholder representatives on the board of Aker Maritime ASA. Aker Maritime's corporate assembly has elected new directors to take the place of Kjell Inge Røkke and Helge Lund who resigned as directors of Aker Maritime after being elected to the board of Kværner ASA. The election was in accordance with the election committee's recommendations. Bengt A Rem is executive vice president of Aker RGI with responsibility for finance and administration. RGI since 1995, he previously held positions at the Oslo Stock Exchange and Arthur Andersen & Co. He is a state-authorized accountant and a graduate of the Norwegian School of Management. Olav Revhaug is a director of Aker RGI.

Prince Elected to the Marine Products

Marine Products Corporation (NYSE:MPX) announced the expansion of the Board to 10 members and the election of Larry L. Prince, as a new Director of the company. Prince serves as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Genuine Parts Company; Chairman of the Board from 1990 through February 2005 and Chief Executive Officer from 1989 through August 2004 of the Genuine Parts Company. Prince also serves as a director of Crawford & Company, and SunTrust Banks, Inc. Odfjell Elects Klaus Nyborg Director of the Board

Odfjell SE’s Extraordinary General Meeting, held December 9, 2015, supported the Nomination Committee's proposal and elected Klaus Nyborg as new director of the Board. Nyborg, a Danish citizen, owns no shares in Odfjell SE and has no formal ties to major shareholders of the company, according to Odfjell. Nyborg was recently Interim CEO of DS Norden AS from 2014-2015, where he has also been on the board since 2012, and chairman since 2015. He also serves board director of several other companies, including being chairman of A/S United Shipping & Trading Company and BAWAT A/S.

Port Canaveral Adds New Director of Planning Position

Melbourne resident Wade Morefield has been hired as the Port’s first Director of Planning, a position created to transition departmental-level planning efforts into a comprehensive organizational-wide function. The former Director of Planning for the city of Anniston, Alabama, Morefield most recently worked as a planner for the city of Melbourne. His planning experience includes neighborhood revitalization, redevelopment, transportation and enhancement projects, zoning and building code enforcement. As the Port’s Director of Planning, he will oversee the Port’s master plan; attend regional and local meetings involving transportation, growth and planning; as well as work with staff to develop strategies to move projects forward and to make sure they are done correctly.

Canaveral Names First Female Director of Operations

When Tracy Curry takes the reins as the new Director of Operations at Port Canaveral on June 4, she will make history locally and nationally. Curry is the first female in the Port’s 53-year history to run the department with the largest number of employees. She also is believed to be one of the first women to hold the job at any U.S. port. The former Cruise Services Manager at Port Everglades, Curry has a broad range of maritime experience in both the cruise and cargo sectors. She is a former Assistant Operations Manager with Florida Transportation Services and also worked as a Traffic Manager with G&G Shipping and Export. As the Port’s Director of Operations, Curry will be responsible for personnel, vessel traffic coordination, and maintenance of port facilities, roads, and parks.
