ClassNK Releases New Hull Design Software

ClassNK announced the release of a new version of its PrimeShip-HULL (HCSR) ship design support software. In addition to a variety of new features, the new version includes in the new second draft of the IACS Harmonized Common Structural Rules, or H-CSR, for bulk carriers and oil tankers released on April 1, 2013. Initially released in July 2012, ClassNK’s PrimeShip-HULL (HCSR) was the world’s first design support software to incorporate the requirements of the new IACS Harmonized Common Structural Rules, and is already used by shipyards and designers in China, Korea and Japan.

Vizada, Météo-France Weather Service Contract

Vizada, an independent satellite communications provider, and Météo-France, ameteorological center, have renewed their agreement to provide digital weather information and software to the maritime community. The partnership signing coincides with the release of a new version of its SkyFile Weather solution, based on Météo-France’s latest Navimail software. The new version of SkyFile Weather delivers meteorological information to crew more rapidly through a direct internet connection established via the mobile satellite terminal. This applies to all new generation IP-based services typically found on board ship including Inmarsat FleetBroadband and Iridium OpenPort.

CMA CGM Rolls Out New Mobile App

CMA CGM Group is launching a new version of its mobile application, overhauled with new features that will allow customers to track shipments, provide access to all line schedules and company news. It is now also available on tablets operating on Android and IOs systems. It exists in five versions in English, French, Chinese, Spanish and Portuguese. The new version of the application presents a redesigned and ergonomic interface that makes all features intuitive and easy to use. It also provides access to customer service.

SevenCs Launches New ECDIS Kernel

The new version of the SevenCs ECDIS Kernel SDK (Software Development Kit) 5.20 has been designed to meet all future requirements of the latest international standards to reduce implementation irregularities and improve the overall usability of chart display systems (IEC 61174 Standard edition 4.0; IHO S-52 Presentation Library edition 4.0; IHO S-64 Test Standard edition 3.0). Drew Marine Introduces New Version of Drew Watch

A new version of Drew Watch Electronic ServicesTM software with expanded programs is now available from Drew Marine, a business unit of Ashland Specialty Chemical Company. Drew Wtch is a PC-based software application that monitors shipboard water treatment tests and recommends action for out-of-range results. A New Version of CEACT River Navigation Software

SevenCs and CEACT Information Systems Inc. announce the latest development of their inland navigation system CEACT. The new version includes two new major functionalities which will allow operating the vessel safer and more efficiently. The new version will be available November 2012. Multiple CPA enables the user to track several AIS targets simultaneously. The operator can toggle between the most relevant targets without re-acquiring. Dangerous targets don’t get lost and the situational awareness is significantly improved. The second functionality does not only improve safety, but also allows the user to save fuel. The Overtaking Calculation shows nicely and easily to understand how long overtaking a vessel will take and mark a position in the chart where it will be completed.

New Stabilizer Design Is Beneficial to Cruise Industry

Rolls-Royce has broken ground yet again within the cruise realm with a new version of its well-known Brown Brothers Neptune folding fin stabilizer, offering easier maintenance without dry docking.The original folding fin stabilizer has proven itself in the commercial and naval marine sector with more than 90 sold in the last 12 years, including four – each with a fin area of 15.6 sq. m. – for Queen Mary 2. The new version, which will become available in Autumn 2003, and is suitable for cruise vessels, ferries and container vessels, features a ram arrangement that allows tilt cylinder and seal maintenance without dry docking for the first time. Weight has also been reduced by 10 percent and one oil will cover both the hydraulic and lubrication system.

New FORAN Update from SENER

SENER Ingeniería y Sistemas SA launched a new version of its marine CAD/CAM system, the FORAN V80. The new version is fully compatible with the previous ones and includes improvements in all of its modules. The main upgrades come from the initial and basic project stages, where the calculations and results can be reused in further steps. Regarding the hull structure and outfitting modules, they add extra functionality such as the new advanced welding managing, or enhancements in the P&ID – 3D piping link, now with a more flexible and complete data locking system. Telemarine launches V.6 of Bunkerworld.com

The giant bunkerfuel website - Bunkerworld.com has reached version 6, in a major new re-launch. Bunkerworld.com which is operated by Telemarine Ltd in London, contains more than 10,000 pages of bunkerfuel related information. Version 1 of Bunkerworld was launched in Sept 1997. One of the major changes in the new version of the site is a new information mapping structure which allows flexibility when handling large amounts of related data.

SENER Celebrates 50 Years of FORAN

The SENER Group division in Shanghai held a 50th anniversary celebration of FORAN system where it also presented its new version V80. New Version of ABS SafeNet Released

ABS has released the new, Version 3.0 of its ABS SafeNet Survey Status program to more than 1,000 ship and vessel owners worldwide. Chief Information Officer. Formation Design Updates Maxsurf

Formation Design Systems has updated its Maxsurf suite of naval architecture software. The new version 13 release adds new functions for analysis of existing vessels and generation of vessel structure. The new features in version 13 of Maxsurf will help both monohull and multihull designers. They include automated fitting of existing designs, enhanced stability criteria, motions prediction of catamarans and improved generation of hull structure.

Software Offers New Features

International Communications and Navigation Limited, provider of marine electronic navigation and DGPS services has released new versions of its electronic charting system software - Aldebaran II and Regulus II for the Windows NT operating system. An upgrade to the company's ECS software, Release II provides many new features such as the ability to read multiple electronic charts, store and display routes and voyages, and adjust light levels. The product, which is expected to be released this month, is - as with the company's previous releases - Y2K compliant.

ShipConstructor Partners with Genoa

ShipConstructor Software Inc. has signed an agreement with the trend-setting marine production design company, Genoa Design International Ltd., establishing Genoa as its Quality Assurance Partner for ShipConstructor’s CAD/CAM application. Genoa will help ShipConstructor test new versions of its software and then be the first to adopt it for use on actual projects. This agreement is an example of ShipConstructor’s commitment to go beyond industry standards to enhance the stability and performance of the product prior to general release.  

USCG – Certificate of Discharge to US Merchant Mariners

The US Coast Guard proposes to change the Certificate of Discharge to Merchant Mariners from a booklet format using carbon copies to one that can be downloaded from the Internet. The new version would still require signatures of the vessel master and the discharged mariner. Its availability on the Internet, though, would alleviate availability issues. Comments on this effort to bring the process into the 21st Century should be submitted by January 16, 2007. Source: HK Law

Gazprom becomes Public Joint Stock Company

  The procedure of renaming Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) Gazprom into Public Joint Stock Company (PJSC) Gazprom has finished. The change in the Company's legal status is reflected in the new version of the Articles of Association approved by the annual General Shareholders Meeting on June 26 and registered under a statutory procedure on July 17. The Company's name was changed with a view to bring it in line with the provisions of Chapter IV of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation.  

PTC Launches New Design Software

CBR reports that product development company PTC has announced the availability of CADDS 5i R14, a design software product for the shipbuilding industry, as well as other large assembly manufacturers, to support product development. CADDS 5i R14 is supported with a new version of CADDS 5i workgroup management software, Optegra 8, which helps engineering teams work together more effectively.

France Telecom Offers Improved SkyFile

France Telecom Mobile Satellite Communications designed new features for its free SkyFile software package, making e-mailing at sea even easier and more practical and providing seafarers with communications solutions as efficient and rapid as those used on land. SkyFile is France Telecom Mobile Satellite Communications’ proprietary software solution enabling the transfer of e-mails, faxes and SMS via Inmarsat and Iridium mobile satellite terminals. The new version compresses data sent by up to 90%, speeding up transfer times and reducing communications costs. The software also includes a SPAM filter and a black & white list option for better management of incoming e-mails.
