Caterpillar Acquires ESRG Technologies

Caterpillar Marine has completed the acquisition of ESRG Technologies Group, LLC, a vessel monitoring and data analytics company in the marine industry. The acquisition includes ESRG’s software suite for the remote monitoring and diagnostics of more than 65 on-board systems as well as the expertise to provide meaningful recommendations to ship owners to help increase efficiency, reduce downtime on their vessels and assist shipyards in reducing warranty expenses. Caterpillar Marine has announced  it has completed the acquisition of ESRG Technologies Group, LLC, a vessel monitoring and data analytics leader in the marine industry. The acquisition includes ESRG’s comprehensive software suite for the remote monitoring and diagnostics of more than 65 on-board systems as well as the expertise to provide meaningful recommendations to ship owners to help increase efficiency, reduce downtime on their vessels and assist shipyards in reducing warranty expenses.

Caterpillar Marine and Power Systems was one of the most active companies at the 2013 International Workboat Show in New Orleans, debuting several new products that are compliant with EPA Tier 3 and 4 regulations, and finalizing the acquisition of propulsion equipment manufacturer Johan Walter Berg AB. Caterpillar’s Marine Center of Excellence

Highly automated, fully variable assembly process allows Cat to provide uniform service to a myriad of marine customers. But, MCOE is only one part of Cat’s new business strategy. In August of 2007, the first Cat marine engine left Caterpillar’s new Marine Center of Excellence (MCOE) in Greenville, South Carolina. In the ensuing years, countless engines have gone through the same process. Caterpillar Marine Power Systems brings together all the sales and service activities for Cat and MaK branded marine products within Caterpillar Inc. The organization provides marine power solutions (high and medium speed with outputs from 11 kW to 16,000 kW) and customer service from a single source for the global ocean-going, commercial and pleasure craft markets.

CAT Debuts C175-16 in Germany

On the occasion of SMM 2012, Caterpillar Marine launched new diesel, dual fuel and gas engines. The C175-16 from Caterpillar is the first Cat engine with core ACERT Technology, designed and built from the ground up, according to Robert Hallengren, Marine Products Director, Caterpillar Marine Power Systems. It offers maximum performance along with EPA Marine Tier 3 and IMO Tier II emissions compliance with no after treatment, and is positioned to comply with EPA Tier 4 and IMO Tier III rules.

Caterpillar Marine Reorganizes Management

Following a number of record years in marine business, 2009 and 2010 definitely will be more challenging for the entire market. However, Caterpillar Marine Power Systems (CMPS) said it is prepared to weather the storm. The realignment of CMPS Director level management structures is designed to improve customer relationships while allowing for sustainable growth. Effective April 1, J. Florian Gruber will become CMPS Sales Director, based in Hamburg. Gruber will be responsible for all commercial Cat and MaK marine engine sales around the world. He will oversee a global team of sales representatives as well as the MaK dealership for Asia Pacific.
