Wagenborg Installs Shore Power Connection on Kroonborg Vessel

Wagenborg Offshore has installed and commissioned a shore connection system on the Kroonborg walk-to-work (W2W) vessel in collaboration with NAM/Shell UK, and the support of Dutch province of North Holland.The shore power system was developed and engineered by Dutch company Eekels Technology.Additionally, Eekels Technology, in partnership with the Port of Den Helder, is advancing a hydrogen shore power generator project in cooperation with the Port of Harlingen and Groningen Seaports.The hydrogen generator is set to become operational by the end of 2023.

Van Oord to Remove Silt from Averijhaven to Make Room for Energy Port

Dutch marine and offshore services contractor Van Oord has won a contract to design and carry out the removal of silt from the Averijhaven depot in IJmuiden, The Netherlands, creating space for what will eventually become an energy port for offshore wind.Van Oord won the 1,5-year contract worth 18 million euros (USD 21 million) from Rijkswaterstaat, the executive agency of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.After the removal of the contaminated silt, the area will be developed into an energy port.

Titan LNG Christens FlexFueler001

Netherlands-based service supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG), Titan LNG has christened its liquefied natural gas bunkering barge, the FlexFueler001, in the port of Amsterdam.The event marks the official commencement of safe, efficient and cost-effective inland waterway LNG bunkering in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region.At the event in the Port of Amsterdam a mix of LNG fellow travellers gathered, including customers, business partners, and manufactures of the FlexFueler. New IJmuiden Sea Lock Gets Gates

The first of a total of three lock gates for the new sea lock has arrived at IJmuiden harbour in the Dutch province of North Holland.According to Port of Amsterdam Authority, the lock gate was towed by a tug across the North Sea to its final destination. On its way from South Korea to IJmuiden - with a stopover at Maasvlakte 2 - the lock gate has covered a total of more than 26,000 km. The transport over the last 150 km took 30 hours and went smoothly.Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, Cora van Nieuwenhuizen, said: "It is good that - after a long journey - the first lock gate has now arrived at its destination. New Sea Lock at IJmuiden

To accommodate increasingly larger ships, a new sea lock is being built at IJmuiden, a port city in the Dutch province of North Holland.The construction started in 2016. It will be the largest sea lock in the world. The sea lock ensures that ships can access the ports and port businesses along the North Sea Canal in a safe and efficient way, irrespective of the tide.The new sea lock will be 500 metres long, 70 metres wide and 18 metres deep. Iskes Towage Names Damen ASD Tugs 3212 ‘Mars’ and ‘Mercurius’

Two of Iskes Towage’s vessels, the Damen ASD Tugs 3212 Mars and Mercurius, have been officially named at a ceremony held at IJmuiden Port, Amsterdam.The naming formed part of an event held to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of Iskes Towage & Salvage, which was formed by Ben Iskes, the father of current owner Jim Iskes, in 1968.The Mars was named by Elisabeth Post, Deputy for Transport and Traffic for the Province of North Holland, and the Mercurius by Miss Annick Vergouwen, daughter of managing director Ronald Vergouwen.The celebrations were also attended by Iskes staff, clients and many other associates who have worked alongside the company over the years.

Netherlands to Ban Degassing on Inland Navigation Vessels

"The Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, Van Nieuwenhuizen wants the degasification ban to be introduced in the Netherlands by mid-2020," said the statement. A taskforce will be set up in order to ensure in partnership with the business community that the introduction of this national degassing ban runs smoothly. Port of Amsterdam is one of the organisations that will be participating in this process. This marks another step in our liveability programme: a clean and safe port region for local residents and businesses. Apart from Port of Amsterdam the Government, port companies, Shell Nederland and the provinces of North Holland, North Brabant, South Holland, Utrecht, Overijssel, Gelderland, Flevoland and Zeeland are involved in the task force.

VSDV Group Comes to Amsterdam Port Premises

Netherlands- based Van Straalen De Vries (VSDV) Transport Group began work of new building on the Port of Amsterdam’s Beiraweg. The ceremony was attended by VSDV Group family members, shareholders and employees. The company’s directors turned the first sod together for the new cross-dock facility, which is being built by the Aan de Stegge construction and engineering company on behalf of Peeters Vervoerscentrale and Van Staaveren Amsterdam. The building will be completed by the 2018 Builders Holidays in July/August. In constructing the new building, which will cover a total of 5,500 square metres and will be partially equipped with solar panels, 40 docks and a vehicle cleaning facility, the company is fully prepared for any future industry trends and developments.

EIB Antes €165 Mln for Amsterdam Sea Lock

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has agreed to provide EUR 165 million (187.5m) to support the construction of a new sea lock at IJmuiden, the principal access to the Dutch Port of Amsterdam. The current Noordersluis lock was built in 1929 and the new larger lock will ensure that the next generation of bulk carriers, container ships and cruise ships can continue to access the Port of Amsterdam and the North Sea Canal, and is expected to reduce waiting time for ships. The new sea lock will be 500 meters long, 70 meters wide and 18 meters deep, and able to operate in all tides. The IJmuiden sea lock is expected to support economic activity both along the North Sea canal and for companies using the Port of Amsterdam, Europe’s fourth busiest port.

Top Year for Port of Amsterdam

In his New Year's speech, executive director of the Amsterdam Port Authority, Hans Gerson announced that 2001 had proven another record year. Amsterdam Ports, comprising the ports of Amsterdam, Zaanstad, Beverwijk and IJmuiden, achieved a substantial increase of 5 percent to over 67 million tons. This makes Amsterdam Ports among the fastest growing ports in Western Europe. Transhipments in the Port of Amsterdam alone increased by almost 10 percent. Numbers of vessels rose by 2.5 percent to 9,360, underscoring the ongoing increase in scale of shipping to Amsterdam. Some 108 cruise ships visited the port, against 100 in the previous year. Of the 67 million tons, coal represented 18.5 million tons, a 5.8 percent growth. Oil increased by a significant 15.1 percent to 13 million tons.
