Chevron Greenlights Gorgon LNG Expansion

Chevron Corp will proceed with the second stage of its giant Gorgon liquefied natural gas (LNG) export plant off the northwest coast of Western Australia, the company said on Saturday.Chevron and its joint venture partners plan to sink 11 new wells in the Gorgon and Jansz-Io fields and build offshore pipelines and subsea structures to pipe the gas to the nearby 15.6 million tonne a year LNG plant on Barrow Island.The $54 billion Gorgon project came on stream in March 2016 but suffered numerous unplanned shutdowns in its early stages.Chevron declined to put a cost on stage two of the project…

Fugro Seacore Jacket Installation Works for Australia’s Largest Platform

Fugro Seacore (FSCL) has just completed drilling on the jacket installation works on the North Rankin B platform in Australia. Fugro Seacore designed, built and operated two large pile top drills for Heerema Marine Contractors for jacket installation work of the platform substructure. The North Rankin B platform is the Australia’s largest offshore platform, measuring 100m long by 50m wide weighing 25,000 tonnes and has been installed alongside the existing North Rankin A platform, and connected by two new 100 metre bridges. It is part of the North Rankin 2 Project, a $5 billion investment announced in 2008 for the North Rankin and Perseus gas fields offshore Australia.

ChevronTexaco to Operate New LNG Carrier

ChevronTexaco Shipping Co. LLC announced one of its affiliates will serve as the operator of the North West Shelf Venture (Venture) Gas Project's newest vessel, the Northwest Swan. The vessel is currently planned to deliver liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the project's Western Australian operations to customers in Japan, Korea and China, as well as provide opportunities to deliver into the LNG spot market. Mike Carthew, president of ChevronTexaco Shipping Co. LLC, said, "We are proud that ChevronTexaco has been chosen by the Venture participants to serve as operator of the Northwest Swan, the ninth and largest vessel in their fleet.

SembCorp Signs Long Term LNG Deal

Singapore’s SembCorp Marine Ltd has announced a long-term contract from Australia’s North West Shelf venture (NWS) to provide dry-docking, refit, and other marine services, for their fleet of LNG ships. This breakthrough contract signifies the first time that a major LNG consortium has committed itself to a long-term maintenance and refit contract in the region. At a time when Singapore is preparing itself to be a major hub and player in the LNG sector, the selection of SembCorp Marine as a refit partner of NWS, is a great boost to the Singapore marine industry and reinforces the Shipyard Group’s position as one of the area’s leaders in LNG refits.

Halliburton Awarded Contract

Halliburton's Production Optimization Division has been awarded a Pipeline & Process Services (PPS) contract by Technip Oceania Pty Ltd for testing and pre-commissioning services for the North West Shelf Venture’s Perseus over Goodwyn (PoG) Project. Operated by Woodside Energy Ltd, the PoG development is located 134 kilometers off the northwest coast of Western Australia and is one of several developments being undertaken within the larger North West Shelf area. Woodside is further developing the Perseus gas/condensate field via a subsea tieback to the Goodwyn A platform, approximately 15 kilometers northeast of the field. The PPS work scope will be completed over a two-month period starting in November 2006 and will involve the pre-flooding of spools and associated assemblies…

Australian LNG Exports May Surge 22%

Australian liquefied natural gas export sales may surge by 22 percent next fiscal year, thanks to the start-up of new plants to meet rising demand for the fuel in Asia, Bloomberg reported. The value of LNG exports is forecast to rise to $4.5 billion in the year ending June 30, 2007, after a forecast 56 percent jump this year. The ConocoPhillips-led Bayu-Undan LNG venture started shipping LNG to Japan from its Darwin plant this quarter, while the Woodside Petroleum Ltd.-operated North West Shelf venture is due to start LNG shipments to China in April from its expanded plant in Western Australia. Woodside, Royal Dutch Shell Plc and BHP Billiton are also among companies seeking to export LNG from Australia to buyers in North America.

ShipServ’s e-procurement Solutions Expand

ShipServ announced that Chevron Shipping Company and Seabulk International have contracted to conduct their procurement business via ShipServ’s TradeNet trading platform. ShipServ established a foothold in North America, by adding a number of blue chip clients and breaking into new sectors such as LNG, cruise ships etc. Chevron Shipping, San Ramon, California, signed on its tanker fleet currently at 25 ships, including the, Northwest Swan, an LNG vessel operated by an affiliate of Chevron Shipping on behalf of the North West Shelf Venture Gas Project. Seabulk International, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who operate one of the largest USA tanker fleets, will use TradeNet for all purchasing for their fleet of ten petroleum product and chemical tankers.

ABS Selected By Woodside For Asset Base Classification and Verification

ABS has been selected by Woodside Energy Ltd, Australia’s largest publicly traded oil and gas exploration and production company, to provide classification and verification services across the Pan-Woodside Energy Ltd asset base for the next five years. The multi-year, multi-million dollar contract covers core operational requirements of the company’s activities off Australia and existing and future emerging projects in Australia, the U.K., the U.S., Singapore and Korea. Woodside’s active exploration and production program includes such projects as the Enfield and Vincent developments offshore Western Australia, the Angel Gas Project and the Pluto LNG field about 180 km from the Burrup Peninsula, the Bonaparte Basin in the Timor Sea and projects off the US West and Gulf coasts.

J. Ray McDermott Awarded Australian Project

McDermott International subsidiary J. Ray McDermott, S.A. won a $77 million contract by Woodside Energy Ltd., operator of the North West Shelf Venture's LNG Phase V Expansion project in Australia. Under the contract, J. Ray will undertake construction engineering, procurement, fabrication, assembly and erection of 75 pre-assembled module and pipe rack units totaling nearly 22,000 short tons. Completed modules and pipe racks will be shipped from J. Ray's Batam Island, Indonesian fabrication facility to Western Australia, and transported to the Venture's LNG facilities on the Barrup Peninsula where the new LNG "Train V" is being constructed.
