Dominion Energy and Ørsted have said that the turbine components and monopiles for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) pilot project have started their journey to North America. The foundations, consisting of the turbines' monopiles, transition pieces and anode cages fabricated by EEW SPC, have been loaded onto the Bigroll Beaufort cargo ship in Rostock, Germany. The giant 25,000-metric-ton Brent Bravo oil platform topsides arrived at Able Seaton Port in preparation for its dismantling and recycling, said Peter Stephenson, founder and Executive Chairman of Able UK.The Brent Bravo, which stands 410 feet tall and 230 feet wide, is the second platform from the Shell Brent field to be decommissioned at Able Seaton Port—the first, the Brent Delta, arrived in May 2017. Both were transported from northeast of Shetland by the Allseas vessel Pioneering Spirit, one of the largest vessels ever built.After arriving off the North East coast, the Brent Bravo was transferred to a 200-meter-long barge, the Iron Lady, for the final part of the journey to Able Seaton Port where it is currently moored on Quay 6.

Australia's Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (LNGL) has appointed Chevron executive Greg Vesey to replace company founder Maurice Brand as managing director and chief executive. Brand will continue on with LNG as an executive director until his retirement in June next year. Vesey, a 25-year veteran of Chevron, will be based in Houston, Texas. Greg brings a wealth of experience through his 35 years with Chevron Corporation where his responsibilities most recently included Chevron's Global Gas marketing and trading activity including extensive LNG development work. Previous appointments covered the introduction of new technology, international operations and included commercial and execution responsibilities as well as liaising with stakeholders.

An accident report into the loss of the Cheeki Rafiki mid-way through a transatlantic crossing last May, found that undetected damage to fittings around the keel after a string of earlier groundings are among the likely causes, says the Telegraph. The loss of four UK sailors in the Atlantic was "a tragic accident", the head of the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) said. Days later the hull of the 40ft yacht was found with its life raft still on board. There was no sign of the crew. Gavin Higgins has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Ice Floe LLC dba Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB), the company announced today. Effective immediately, Higgins replaces Matt Nichols, one of the company’s founders who has served as CEO of NBBB since February 2012, also serving as CEO for more than 35 years prior to the company’s sale in 2008. Nichols will remain with the company as its Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, and as a member of the board of directors.

Liquefied Natural Gas Limited today announced that it has significantly expanded its presence in the North American Liquefied NaturalGas (LNG) sector by signing an agreement to acquire 100% of Bear Head LNG Corporation (BHLC)from a subsidiary of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (Anadarko) for US$11.0 million. A 255-acre site comprising industrial-zoned land (180 acres) and deep-water acreage (75 acres) as well as foundations in place for two 180,000 cubic meter LNG tanks. The land has been cleared, a majority of site works completed and roads constructed. The Project Rights of the previously proposed LNG import terminal, including all assets, rights and obligations associated with the Bear Head project.

The HSPPBs catamarans are available in 20m & 26m x 9m and 30m & 35m x 10.6m and will meet the needs of countries requiring improved coastal and offshore maritime surveillance and security. They are not warships and do not carry any mounted weapons, however it is expected they will have trained and armed crew on-board to counter the weapons used by pirates.

The Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM), located in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, today launched a marketing campaign to promote the strategic advantages of developing a container shipping port terminal in Sydney harbor. The announcement comes after CBRM recently agreed to purchase approximately 500 acres of greenfield waterfront land for the purpose of building a container terminal that will create jobs and lasting economic benefit for the community of Cape Breton. Theriault & Son Ltd., of Meteghan River, Nova Scotia, Canada.
