DryShips Reports 3Q 2014 Results

DryShips Inc. an international provider of marine transportation services for drybulk and petroleum cargoes, and through its majority owned subsidiary, Ocean Rig UDW Inc., or Ocean Rig, of offshore deepwater drilling services, today announced its unaudited financial and operating results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2014.  For the third quarter of 2014, the Company reported net income of $16.7 million, or $0.04 basic and diluted earnings per share. - Non-cash write offs and breakage costs associated with the full refinancing of Ocean Rig's $1.35 billion Senior Secured Credit Facility, totaling $22.0 million or $0.05 per share. Excluding the above items, the Company would have reported net income of $29.8 million, or $0.07 per share.

Ocean Rig, Petrobras Agree to $1.1b Drill Ships Lease

Cyprus-based Ocean Rig UDW Inc said on Monday that it signed a $1.1 billion three-year contract with Brazil's state-run oil company, Petroleo Brasileiro SA, to extend a lease on two ultra-deepwater drilling ships. Petrobras, as the Brazilian oil company is known, will get the ships, the Ocean Rig Corcovado and Ocean Rig Mykonos, for 1,095 days, Ocean Rig said in a statement. The period and price translate into an average rate for each of the vessels of $502,283 per day. The Corcovado was expected to earn an average day rate of $464,800 and Mykonos $459,700 in the second half of 2014, according to Ocean Rig's second-quarter financial statements. Ultra-deep water is considered water deeper than 1,500 meters (4,921 feet).

Mr. Khanna departed on 2, October 2012 to pursue other interests and his duties will be absorbed by the existing management team. Ocean Rig, headquartered in Cyprus, owns and operates 6 Drilling Units, the 2 drilling rigs Leiv Eiriksson and Eirik Raude and the 4 drill ships Ocean Rig Corcovado, Ocean Rig Olympia, Ocean Rig Poseidon and Ocean Rig Mykonos. All 6 units are constructed for Ultra Deep Waters and Harsh Environment. In addition it has 3 Ultra Deep Water Drillships under construction, capable to work in 12, 000 feet water depth.

Ocean Rig Corcovado Accepted by Petrobras

Ocean Rig UDW Inc. (NASDAQ: ORIG) a global provider of offshore deepwater drilling services, announced that on May 15, 2012, the Ocean Rig Corcovado completed the general testing of equipment as required by Petroleo Brazilieiro S.A., and has commenced revenue-generating drilling operations in Brazil.

Dryships Announces Signing Of $800 Million Loan Facility

ATHENS, GREECE – April 18, 2011 - DryShips Inc. (NASDAQ: DRYS) (the “Company” or “DryShips”), a global provider of marine transportation services for drybulk and petroleum cargoes and off-shore contract drilling oil services, announced the signing, by its majority-owned subsidiary Ocean Rig UDW Inc. (“Ocean Rig”), of the $800 million syndicated secured term loan facility to partially finance the construction costs of the Ocean Rig Corcovado and Olympia. This facility has a 5 year term and 12 year repayment profile, and bears interest at LIBOR plus a margin.

DryShips Takes Delivery of First Newbuilding Drillship

DryShips Inc. (NASDAQ: DRYS) announced that its 78% owned subsidiary Ocean Rig UDW Inc. took delivery of its newbuilding drillship, the Ocean Rig Corcovado. The Ocean Rig Corcovado is the first to be delivered of the four sister drillship vessels that are being constructed at Samsung Heavy Industries. The construction of all vessels is progressing well and according to schedule. The vessels are sixth generation advanced capability ultra-deep water drillships, each with a drilling capability of 10,000 feet. The naming ceremony of the first two vessels, Ocean Rig Corcovado and Ocean Rig Olympia, was held in December 2010, at Samsung shipyard.

DryShips Signs Two Drilling Contracts: Corcovado, Leiv Eiriksson

DryShips Inc. (NASDAQ: DRYS) announced that its subsidiary Ocean Rig UDW Inc. has entered into firm contracts with Cairn Energy PLC for the Leiv Eiriksson and the Ocean Rig Corcovado for a period of approximately 6 months each. The total contract value including mobilization for the Leiv Eiriksson is approximately $95m. The mobilization period will start in direct continuation from the agreed release date from Petrobras. The total contract value including mobilization and winterization of the Ocean Rig Corcovado is approximately $142m. George Economou, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DryShips commented:  " Following the signing of these contracts we are only left with one open drillship, the Ocean Rig Mykonos, that delivers in the fourth quarter of 2011.

Dryships $325M Bridge Loan Facility

DryShips Inc. (NASDAQ: DRYS) announced that its subsidiary, Drillships Hydra Owners (the owning company of the Ocean Rig Corcovado), has signed a commitment letter with an international lender for a $325m Senior Secured Bridge Loan Facility. Under the terms of this facility which is expected to be executed no later than December 31, 2010, the loan is to be utilized in one single drawdown to fund the delivery installment of the Ocean Rig Corcovado (Hull 1837) scheduled for delivery from Samsung Heavy Industries in January 2011. DryShips Inc. (NASDAQ: DRYS), a global provider of marine transportation services for drybulk cargoes and offshore oil deepwater drilling, announced its unaudited financial and operating results for the third quarter and nine-month period ended September 30, 2010. For the third quarter of 2010, the Company reported net income of $49.3 million, or $0.18 basic and diluted earnings per share. Included in the third quarter 2010 results are various items, totaling $49.7 million, or $0.2 per share which are described below.
