Classification society ABS reports it has issued approval in principle (AIP) to Chinese shipbuilder Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd. for its design of a dual-fuel methanol, heavy-duty, offshore wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV).The WTIV is capable of transporting and installing the largest wind turbines in the world, those capable of producing up to 20 megawatts (MW) of electricity, and promises to reduce carbon emissions with its dual-fuel methanol propulsion system. ABB Secures Large Tech Order for Two Wind Turbine Installation Vessels

ABB said Monday it had secured a large order from Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd., to deliver an integrated bridge-to-propeller technology for Havfram Wind’s two new NG20000X-HF Wind Turbine Installation Vessels (WTIVs). Mainprize Offshore's Wind Farm Service Vessel Hits the Water

UK-based Manor Marine has recently launched an offshore wind farm service vessel being built for Mainprize Offshore.With lifting assistance from Ainscough Crane Hire, Manor Marine launched the Mainprize Offshore Ltd vessel MO8 into the water in the last week of September, following several months of building onsite in Portland, Dorset.The MO8 will undergo internal fitout and final works before sea trials and delivery to Mainprize Offshore later this year.Mainprize Offshore ordered the 26-meter Supa Swath catamaran, designed by Walker Marine Design, in 2021.

MacGregor to Supply Deck Handling Solutions for Van Oord's New WTIV

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has been chosen to supply two auxiliary offshore telescopic cranes for Van Oord’s new generation wind turbine installation vessel. The new vessel will mainly operate to support European wind farms.The vessel is being built by Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd, and is a new generation of wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV). The 175-meter offshore installation vessel will be purpose-built for the transport and installation of foundations and turbines at offshore wind farms. The main crane lifting capacity is more than 3,000 tonnes.

MEO Group Wins Contract to Supply Five Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessels

MEO Group and its local joint venture partner, Uniwise Offshore Ltd, won a three-year contract for five Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels (AHTS) by an E&P company in Thailand. The five vessels -- MEO Monarch 1, MEO Monarch 2, Uniwise Advantage, Uniwise Adventure, and Miclyn Emperor -- will support the oil & gas company's exploration or production programs starting Q1 2022.Photo courtesy MEO Group

Aker BioMarine's Krill Transportation Vessel Launched in China

China's shipbuilder CIMC Raffles has launched the Antarctic Provider, a vessel being built for Norway's krill harvesting company Aker BioMarine.The launching ceremony for the krill transport vessel built by CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd. was held Thursday at CIMC Raffles Yantai base. Wallenius-SOL Orders Four New LNG-Powered RoRos

Knud E. Hansen, Naval architects, designers and marine engineers, said that has designed the first generation of LNG-powered ultra-large RoRo vessels for the newly-established Swedish company Wallenius-SOL.Up to four vessels have been ordered at Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd., China, for whom Knud E. NAO Logs a Big Loss

Nordic American Offshore Ltd (NYSE: NAO) reported for the three months ended December 31, 2018, the company's net loss was $169.3 million, or $26.23 per basic and diluted loss per share, which included a non-cash impairment charge of $160.1 million, or $24.80 per basic and diluted. Excluding the impairment charge, the net loss for the fourth quarter of 2018 was $9.2 million, or $1.43 per basic and diluted loss per share. Arctia’s Vessels Get PC3 Notation

Finnish state-owned company Arctia Oy said that its vessels MSV Fennica and MSV Nordica have now both received certificates of compliance with the IMO Polar Code. NAO Tallies One-year PSV Charter

Nordic American Offshore Ltd (NAO) said it has been awarded a one-year fixed contract for the 2013-built platform supply vessel (PSV) NAO Power.The contract with an unnamed "first-class company" is due to commence in early December 2018, and includes two three-months options following the firm charter period.NAO Power will operate primarily in the North Sea.

BV Approves Braemar’s LNG Containment System

Braemar Technical Services announced that Bureau Veritas (BV) has issued a General Design Approval for the FSP Type B LNG Containment System (FSP). Starting with the General Dynamics NASSCO-patented tank design, for which the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and Lloyd’s Register had issued Approval in Principle (AiP) several years prior, Braemar engineered a new and improved containment system that meets the demands of LNG storage in marine, offshore and onshore applications.

Giaever to Take Over as CFO at NAT, NAO

Bjorn Giaever will take up his position as the new chief financial officer (CFO) at Nordic American Tankers Limited (NAT) and Nordic American Offshore Ltd. (NAO) from October 16, 2017.   Giaever joins NAT/NAO from maritime focused investment bank Fearnley Securities AS, where he served as a director and partner in the Corporate Finance division. Giaever has served as a corporate advisor in the John Fredriksen group in London, top rated Senior Shipping Analyst in DNB Markets and partner in Inge Steensland AS, specializing in gas related maritime matters.    Outgoing NAT/NAO CFO, Turid M. Sorensen, will leave her administrative duties before the end of 2017. She will be suggested as board member of NAT.

Hanssons Up Stake in NAO – Again

Nordic American Offshore Ltd. executive chairman, Herbjorn Hansson and his son, Alexander, have accumulated 1,681,007 shares in the New York listed NAO at an average price of $1.12 per share.  Following the the last purchase of 181,007 NAO shares on Friday, May 12, the Hansson family together with its previous holding now hold shares equivalent to 6.5 percent of NAO.

Hanssons Increase Stake in Nordic American Offshore

The executive chairman of Nordic American Offshore Ltd. (NAO) and his family have increase their holding in the company, now holding shares equivalent to 5.4 percent of NAO.   On Wednesday a company owned by the NAO executive chairman, Herbjorn Hansson, and his son, Alexander, bought 500,000 shares in NAO at an average price of $1.18 per share. They also bought 500,000 NAO shares on Tuesday.

Nordic American Offshore Ltd. (NAO) said it will move its corporate domicile from the Republic of the Marshall Islands to Bermuda.   According to NAO, the change of corporate domicile will not affect the company’s day-to-day business. NAO will continue to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

NAT Names 2 New Tankers in South Korea

wo new tankers, Nordic Star and Nordic Space, were named August 24 for owner Nordic American Tankers Limited (NAT). NAT founder and chairman Herbjørn Hansson was present at the naming ceremony, along with the chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Norwegian Embassy Marianne Damhaug, and the ships' two sponsors, Nordic American Offshore Ltd. executive vice chair Marianne Lie and Siv Helset, a Norwegian lawyer with experience with legal counseling in the industry. Ordered by NAT in December 2014, the two ships were built by South Korean shipbuilder Sungdong.

Grosland Joins NAT as VP

Carl Fredrik Grosland has joined Nordic American Tankers as Vice President, working on analyses, projects and business development. Reporting to Chairman & CEO Herbjørn Hansson in a staff position, he will also work closely with others both in NAT and NAO (Nordic American Offshore Ltd.). Grosland has 12 years of international banking experience as an analyst and broker, focusing mainly on the energy/offshore and the shipping sector. Working from out of New York at the time, he has played a key role in a number of major equity and debt transactions. For several years he was a partner and board member of the investment banking firm of Pareto Securities Inc. (New York). Going forward, he will focus on the U.S., the Far East and Europe with base in NAT's Oslo office.

DVB Bank to Dispose GOL's Six Vessels

DVB Group Merchant Bank (Asia) Ltd, a unit of Germany’s DVB Bank SE, can now go ahead and seek bids for selling six ships of GOL Offshore, earlier known as Great Offshore Ltd, to recover their part of outstanding loans, says a report in the Livement. The Bombay high court has allowed DVB Group to start the process of undertaking valuations of six ships of Mumbai-based offshore services firm and seek potential bids. Bombay high court said six offshore vessels—Malaviya 23, Malaviya 24, Malaviya 25, Malaviya 27, Malaviya 28 and Malaviya 9— lender can immediately publish public advertisements and notices after 24 June for the sale of the vessels in its order dated 13 June.
