Alfa Laval Q4 Results

Order intake for the Alfa Laval  Marine Division decreased in the fourth quarter compared to the previous quarter, mainly as a result of PureSOx coming in lower, following an extraordinary development in the preceding quarter.According to a stock exchange announcement, both offshore pumping systems and ballast water equipment reported significant growth compared to the third quarter, but not enough to compensate for the swing in PureSOx.Regarding the environmental portfolio of products, the market’s interest in PureSOx was on a continued good level as there was no change to the market’s view that the scrubber technology is a long-term financially attractive solution.Actual order intake was however lower after the extraordinary third quarter…

Alfa Laval buys Frank Mohn for $2.17 bln

Swedish engineering group Alfa Laval said on Monday it had agreed to buy Norwegian marine and offshore pumping group Frank Mohn for 13 billion Norwegian crowns ($2.17 billion) in cash. Frank Mohn, headquartered in Bergen, Norway and with approximately 1,200 employees, posted 2013 sales of 3.4 billion crowns and had an order intake of 6.1 billion. "The acquisition, which strengthens Alfa Laval's fluid handling portfolio by adding a unique pumping technology, will further reinforce Alfa Laval`s position as a leading supplier to the marine and offshore oil & gas markets," Alfa Laval said in a statement. Bureau Veritas Classes Brazil’s Largest FPU

P-55 Floating Production Unit

Petrobras’ P-55 Floating Production Unit (FPU), the largest and the first of this kind entirely built in Brazil, is on its way to the Roncador Field, Campos Basin, where it will be installed in a water depth of 1,790 metres. The column stabilized semi-submersible has a capacity of 180,000 bopd and 6,000,000 cu m of gas. The unit is classed by Bureau Veritas. BV group companies also provided a wide range of verification and support services which made the major project possible.
