Argeo Searcher Set to Sail to Indian Ocean after Shell’s Nigeria Task

Oslo-listed offshore service company Argeo has informed that its DP2 vessel Argeo Searcher completed the deepwater inspection services at Shell’s Bonga field, and is scheduled to set sail to Indian Ocean for a job with India’s National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR).In a vessel schedule update, released on January 22, 2024, Argeo confirmed its current backlog includes close to $53 million (NOK 550 million), with a further sales and revenue potential of additional $19 million (NOK 200) million for Argeo Searcher vessel in the second half of 2024.According to the company…

A.P. Møller Holding A/S has acquired offshore vessel services firm Maersk Supply Service A/S from A.P. Møller – Mærsk A/S, through the closing of the previously announced transaction.In connection with the closing of this acquisition, A.P. Moller Holding has elected a new CEO and Board of Directors for Maersk Supply Service A/S. Christian M. Ingerslev will take over the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position from Steen S. Karstensen, who has been at the helm of Maersk Supply Service since 2016.

Crowley, ESVAGT to Build Service Operation Vessel for U.S. Offshore Wind Ops

U.S. maritime services company Crowley and Danish offshore service company ESVAGT will jointly build and operate a service operations vessel (SOV) under a long-term charter with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. Telford Offshore Adds Seven Vessels

Dubai headquartered offshore service company Telford Offshore said it has acquired an additional DP3 pipelay and accommodation vessel, and six offshore support vessels following a legal settlement between Sea Trucks Group (STGL in liquidation) and West African Ventures (WAV).The acquisition nearly triples the Telford Offshore fleet, up from four vessels to 11.The DP3 vessel Jascon 30 is set to be dry docked in the coming months and upgraded in preparation for utilization across the globe under its new name Telford 30.

DOF Wins Petrobras Contract

Norwegian offshore service company DOF has been awarded a charter contract by Brazilian energy major Petrobras for its pipe-laying support vessel Skandi Vitória.   The contract will commence in January for 532 days. The vessel is owned through a joint venture with Technip.    Skandi Vitoria is the first pipe-lay vessel built in Brazil, equipped with vertical and horizontal pipe-lay systems, a 250 mt crane and 2 ROVs. The vessel is capable of operating in water depths up to 3,000 meters.    Mons Aase, CEO of DOF, said that the contract “confirms the DOF Group’s strong position in the South America region.”   In January, DOF was awarded a three-year firm contract by Total Austral in Argentina for anchor handling tug supply vessel Skandi Pacific.

New Regulations Drive Market Step Change

New regulations on davits used in the offshore industry on both sides of the Atlantic are driving a step change in safe davit design. In the USA API 2 and in Norway NORSOK R002 regulations will come into force from 2015. Both sets of regulations apply to davits and lifting appliances used on offshore installations and specify many new design features and safety systems. In Norwegian waters, NORSOK R002 will be retrospective, requiring every davit on offshore platforms in Norwegian waters to be inspected and updated to the new standards.

GMMOS Acquires Funds for OSV Sector

Abraaj Capital and Waha Capital backed Gulf Marine Maintenance and Offshore Service Company (GMMOS), an United Arab Emirates based provider of marine services to the offshore oil & gas industry, has secured a $100m term loan facility from Standard Chartered Bank, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank to refinance existing debt and fund acquisitions in the offshore supply vessel (OSV) sector, with a focus on the GCC and South East Asia markets. The acquisitions are expected to lead to a significant increase in Group profitability and asset base, with the Group's current fleet increasing from 28 OSVs to 34 OSVs by the end of 2009.

Cargotec Acquires Offshore Service Company

Cargotec’s MacGREGOR business area providing marine cargo handling and offshore load handling solutions has signed an agreement to acquire US based Platform Crane Services International Inc (PCS). The sales of the company in 2007 were approximately USD 16 million and the company employs 105 persons. The transaction is subject to due diligence. The parties have agreed not to disclose the transaction value.

Furuno Supplies 300 AIS Units to Tidewater

Furuno won a contract to supply more than 300 of its FA100 Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) to Tidewater Marine, Inc., the world’s largest offshore service company. The FA100 is a complete AIS solution provided in a compact, single unit, which includes the IMO compliant MKD (Minimum Keyboard Display), AIS Transponder and GPS Receiver. The FA100 is designed for simplified installations and low cost maintenance. A typical system configuration requires only the Furuno compact MKD, junction box, standard GPS antenna and an AIS-VHF antenna to complete the installation.

Farstad Enters Long-Term Charter with Arrendadora

The Mexican offshore service company Arrendadora Ocean Mexicana SA is nominated as winner of a maintenance contract for the oil company Pemex in Mexico. This contract is based on the utilisation of two of Farstad's vessels, and Farstad Shipping ASA will as a consequence enter into a long-term charter with Arrendadora Ocean Mexicana SA for Far Scotia and Far Swift, each for 3.3 years. Total contract value for Fartad Shipping ASA is approx. NOK 225 million, and both vessels will commence operations in August/September. Far Scotia and Far Swift are both platform supply vessels (PSV) of the UT 755 design. Far Scotia will finish a two year contract for ASCO in July, while the newbuild Far Swift will be delivered from the yard (Brevik Construction AS) early in the same month.
