Abu Dhabi Ports, Allianz Marine form Offshore Logistics JV

Abu Dhabi Ports’ maritime arm SAFEEN has signed an agreement with offshore vessel owner Allianz Marine & Logistics Services (AMLS), to launch a new international provider of integrated maritime logistic services."Operating under the title of Offshore Support and Logistics Services Company (OFCO – Offshore International), headquartered in Abu Dhabi, the new joint venture will be one of the largest, most capable, and cost-efficient providers of onshore and offshore integrated logistics solutions and subsea services in the GCC [Gulf Cooperation Counci] Gulf Cooperation Council region and beyond," Abu Dhabi Ports said in a statement.According to the statement released Thursday…

VOS Champion Starts New Charter

Vroon Offshore Services reports its Singapore-managed anchor-handling tug supply (AHTS ) vessel VOS Champion has started a five-month contract with a major international oil and gas engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contractor. The firm period of the current contract will last until March 2020.VOS Champion, which had been under charter to Chevron earlier this year, was delivered to her new charterers in early November and immediately mobilized to Sandakan, Malaysia.

HII, KBR to Manage Aussie's Naval Shipbuilding College

Huntington Ingalls Industries announced that Australia’s Department of Defence has awarded a contract to Naval Shipbuilding Institute (NSI), a joint venture between HII’s Technical Solutions division and Kellogg Brown and Root’s (KBR) Government Services division, to establish and manage Australia’s new Naval Shipbuilding College. This effort is in support of Australia’s mission to recapitalize its shipbuilding and maritime sustainment industry over the next several decades. HII Acquires Camber Corp

Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) announced today that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of Camber Corporation and formed a new operating division, HII Technical Solutions. The new division will be led by Andy Green, who will serve as an executive vice president of HII and president of HII Technical Solutions, reporting directly to HII President and CEO Mike Petters. “The acquisition of Camber and the consolidation of our existing service businesses into a dedicated division provides the breadth and scale necessary to successfully pursue numerous growth opportunities,” Petters said. “Camber brings a broad array of capabilities to the HII team, and we are excited about the possibilities of growing the combined businesses.

SBI Wins Jack-up Design and Engineering Contract

SBI Offshore Limited, which is pursuing higher-value oil and gas engineering projects, said today it has secured a $24 million contract to provide design and engineering services for a jack-up drilling rig that can operate in water depths of up to 110 meters. SGX Catalist-listed SBI Offshore said its wholly owned subsidiary, SBI O&M Pte. Ltd., signed the contract with a Middle East-Chinese Consortium which comprises six parties that have varied interests in oil and gas activities. Under the contract, SBI O&M will provide design, engineering and supervision services for a jack-up drilling rig that will meet requirements of the American Bureau of Shipping Classification A1 for Self- Elevating Drilling Unit.

Costain Completes EPC Offshore Acquisition

Aberdeen-based specialist oil and gas project management services company EPC Offshore has been acquired by Costain, a U.K. Tier One engineering solutions providers. The deal marks the launch of Costain Upstream, a new divisional operation combining EPC Offshore’s capabilities with ClerkMaxwell, the oil and gas engineering and support services provider which was acquired by Costain in 2011. Costain Upstream, which will comprise a resource pool of over 350 people and provide services across the life-cycle of upstream offshore oil and gas assets, will deliver engineering, capital projects and asset support services across four principal service lines: field development, subsea facilities, topside facilities and floating systems.

EnerMech Makes £10 Million Australian and U.K. Acquisitions

Oil and gas engineering company EnerMech snapped up Australian industrial sector firm Vicon Services and U.K-based pump equipment specialist Total Reclaim Systems Ltd., in deals worth a combined £10 million. The Aberdeen-based mechanical engineering group will introduce new business lines and significantly strengthen its presence in the multi-billion dollar Australian energy sector through the Vicon deal. The acquisition of Total Reclaim Systems (TRS) increases the range of services EnerMech can provide to the drilling sector.

This $57.5 million acquisition includes 29 actively marketed liftboats ranging from class 105 to class 229, 10 inactive liftboats and additional related assets. Powers and Nesser, All Coast managers and co-chief executive officers, each have more than 40 years of experience in the oil and gas, engineering and maritime industries.

Fabricom Expands, Makes Two Senior Appointments

Oil and gas engineering company Fabricom Offshore Services announced its relocation from Aberdeen's Riverside House to larger office facilities at Berry Street in the city center. The move, which comes less than a year after the company established a base in Aberdeen, is the result of new business and increases the company’s presence and capability in Aberdeen. Fabricom also reinforced its Aberdeen organization with the senior appointments of Mike Grant, as Aberdeen Projects Development Manager and Pat Martin, as the Aberdeen Office Engineering Manager.

Aker Solutions Appoints New VP

The U.K. operation of international oil services group Aker Solutions has announced the appointment of a new vice president to lead greenfield projects as the company looks to expand its capabilities in the sector. Bob Shaw’s appointment is the latest in a series of new senior management appointments at Aker Solutions subsea business in Aberdeen as the company embarks on the next stage in its growth strategy. He will lead development of all greenfield projects, focusing on the successful delivery of work for key clients including Statoil, Petrobras, Total E&P, Dana Petroleum, ENI and others.

With the opening of its Stockton-on-Tees engineering office Aker aims to create up to 100 jobs in NE England. Aker Solutions' drilling technologies business will be the main occupant in the new office, which is located right next to the company's current premises at the Preston Farm industrial estate, Stockton-on-Tees, UK. The office will house product engineers who will be working on a wide range of topside drilling equipment. Aker Solutions is one of the top-two global suppliers of deepwater drilling packages for offshore drilling rigs and drillships.

Harris Pye Takes on More Offshore Projects

Global maritime and offshore oil and gas engineering company Harris Pye is making significant gains in the offshore oil and gas market, according to Group Managing Director Mark Prendergast. “We are currently undertaking three major rig renovations simultaneously in the UK, Singapore and Brazil,” said Prendergast. In January, the company completed a comprehensive refit and refurbishment of Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc’s (DODI) drillship, The Ocean Clipper. All works were completed in just 90 days. The scale of the project was immense and included electrical works, accommodation, painting, cranes, 250 tons of steelwork, over two miles of piping renewals, and the removal and replacement of transformers and motors.

Aker Takes Major Stake In Kvaerner

Aker Maritime has acquired control of about one fourth of Kvaerner for a reported $350 million (3 billion crowns). The purchase made the industrial holding firm, a group of companies operating in more than 20 countries with no previous Kvaerner ownership, the biggest shareholder in Kvaerner. "Aker Maritime ASA has today bought rights issues, shares and options in Kvaerner ASA which together amount to 26.39 percent of the company after the ongoing rights issue," Aker Maritime said in statement to the Oslo bourse. Kvaerner, which core activities include oil and gas, engineering and construction, announced in May a 2.5 billion crowns rights issue to exploit opportunities for growth and development. The subscription period ended on Wednesday.
