Digital Generation to Enhance O&G Production, Safety

BP poll shows delegates at SPE Intelligent Energy International 2013 believe the digital generation will enable emerging technologies to optimize production and enhance safety management. Oil and gas industry professionals believe that the digital generation will enable emerging technologies to optimize production and enhance safety management, according to a poll conducted today at the SPE Intelligent Energy International 2013 exhibition in Dubai. 93% of participants backed the benefits of digitalization while 7% disagreed. The poll was conducted by BP on the final day of IE2013, which is expected to have attracted more than 2,000 business leaders and senior engineering professionals from across the world.

IADC Recognizes GL Noble Denton Expert

The International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) has recognized Mike Hoyle, one of GL Noble Denton's leading technical authorities for offshore oil and gas structures, for his contribution to new ISO Standards for the site-specific assessment of mobile offshore units. The IDAC Committee presented its Exemplary Service Award to Mr Hoyle in recognition of his role as leader of a dedicated International Standards Organization work group. The group developed the ISO 19905-1 and ISO 19905-2 standards for assessing the safe operation of mobile offshore units. Mr Hoyle led a large team of international mobile offshore structure specialists, representing rig-owners, class societies, oil companies, marine surveyors, consultants and regulators.

Oil and gas professionals are upbeat about the future of North Sea operations, Offshore Europe poll reveals. 57% of delegates at Offshore Europe expect investment in the North Sea oil and gas industry to increase in 2012, according to Economist Intelligence Unit research commissioned by GL Noble Denton. Industry Professionals Undecided on Future Oil Price

Oil and gas industry professionals are divided in opinion on whether the price of a barrel of oil will exceed $150 by the end of 2011, according to an Industry Snapshot poll conducted by GL Noble Denton at the SPE Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2011 in Houston. 52% of participants believed that oil will not exceed $150 per barrel by the end of 2011, while 48% thought it would. OTC 2001: Drilling Markets Poised for Flood of Business

Beginning on April 30, more than 43,000 people will begin converging on the city of Houston for four days at the most important offshore event of the year the 33rd Offshore Technology Conference (OTC). The theme of the event, “One World, One Event,” summarizes the trans-national nature of this offshore conference. “OTC 2001 is the one place where we, as oil and gas industry professionals, can find the answers to our questions, through technical sessions and by exploring the exhibit floor,” said Wolfgang Schollnberger, OTC 2001 Chairman.
