A Texas grand jury on Wednesday declined to issue felony indictments against a group of Greenpeace USA activists who closed a key oil export waterway for 18 hours last year by tying themselves to a Houston bridge and dangling over the water.Felony charges had been brought against 31 activists involved in the September 2019 protest. The vessels owned by the Caspian Sea Oil Fleet of the CJSC "Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company" carry out dredging operation at the Filanovsky field on the basis of a contract with Voltar Marine. A dredging vessel ("Engineer Balarza Mammadov"), three soil transportation ships (“Bakinskaya 3”, “Bakinskaya 5”, “Bakinskaya 6”) and supply-towing vessel “Yarenga” were involved in the implementation of the dredging project. A total of 27050 cubic meters of dredging works were carried out. Thus, the first stage of the project, which started on June 26, 2013, was completed. The implementation of the works planned for the second stage of the project at the Filanovsky field will also be carried out by the vessels of the Shipping Company.

China's commerce ministry said on Friday that it may impose additional tariffs on up to $3 billion of U.S. imports in response to U.S. tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum products. Turkish maritime authorities have reopened Istanbul's Bosphorus Strait to transiting tankers after shutting it earlier on Saturday for several hours following what the government said was an attempted coup by a faction in the military. The Bosphorus is one of world's most important chokepoints for the maritime transit of oil with over three percent of global supply - mainly from Russia and the Caspian Sea - passing through the 17-mile waterway that connects the Black Sea to the Mediterranean. London's Baltic Exchange and Chinese state-owned Ningbo Shipping Exchange said on Friday they would collaborate on container indices, the first foray by the Baltic into this segment of the freight market. Sources told Reuters in early October that the London Metal Exchange, which is owned by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing , had made an informal approach to the Baltic to acquire it. In a first step, Ningbo's weekly containerised freight index - which tracks rates on various routes - would be published on the Baltic's website, the exchanges said. A Baltic spokesman said it would work with Ningbo to do "more in the container space". Baltic chief executive Jeremy Penn said separately the move underlined its "ever-closer ties with the Chinese market".

Brazil state-run oil company Petroleo Brasileiro SA stopped production on Sunday from its P-40 platform in the offshore Marlim Sul field after a gas leak on the vessel, an oil workers' union said on its website on Monday, citing worker reports. The P-40, a semi-submersible production platform, was producing about 45,915 barrels (7,300 cubic meters) of oil and 800,000 cubic meters of natural gas a day when it was shut down, the union said. The P-40 is at the hub of a network of five platforms in Marlim Sul and at the center of oil and gas pipelines that interlink undersea natural gas pipelines into a single export line to the coast. It is also interlinked to a pipeline system that exports oil from the neighboring Marlim field.

China is expected to sign 30 cooperative agreements worth $10 billion with Kazakhstan as Premier Li Keqiang begins his first official visit to the country, the official Xinhua news agency said on Sunday. Xinhua did not give details, but quoted Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping as highlighting a joint-venture logistics base and urging interconnectivity with highways, railways, ports, air routes, oil and gas pipelines. Yemen resumed exports from its main oil pipeline on Saturday, one day after an attack by tribesmen temporarily halted flows, industry sources said. Yemen's oil and gas pipelines have been repeatedly sabotaged, often by tribesmen who have feuds with the central government, causing fuel shortages and slashing export earnings for the impoverished country. The last attack was on Friday when tribesmen blew up the pipeline which transports crude from Marib oil fields in central Yemen to Ras Isa on the Red Sea. Yemen has said that oil flows through the Marib pipeline, one of its main petroleum export routes, at a rate of around 70,000 barrels per day (bpd). Before the spate of attacks began three years ago, the 270-mile (435-km) pipeline carried around 110,000 barrels per day to Ras Isa.

The Coast Guard says it has completed clean up and removal efforts of a barge that sank earlier near Point Conception State Marine Reserve, California. Around 12:15 p.m. on 8, June 2014 the Coast Guard received a distress call from the tugboat Calvin, reporting that the 260-foot barge Nash was sinking. The barge had a cargo of 3,900 metric tons of magnesium chloride, a non-hazardous derivative of sea water. The barge sank stern first leaving the bow extended above the water. During the sinking, air spaces in the aft cargo tanks were crushed and the hull breached. The barge rested approximately 1/2 mile south of the oil and gas pipelines extending from the Freeport-McMorRan Hermosa Platform to the shore near Point Conception.

This summer will be a busy time for StatoilHydro and the group’s suppliers off the Sogne region of western Norway, with marine operations on both Gjøa and Vega. These activities are intended to prepare the two North Sea fields to start production next year. “We have 20 units at work and are due to perform some 1,000 vessel days,” reported Bjørn Midttun, head of subsea installations, pipelines and marine operations on Gjøa. Roughly 200 kilometres of oil and gas pipelines will be laid, along with a 100-kilometre transmission cable from Mongstad near Bergen to supply the floating platform with power from shore. Installing umbilicals, risers, and connection and protection structures, and making more than 60 connections, are just some of the other jobs to be done.

A two-year, $1 million grant was awarded to Ohio-based CC Technologies Laboratories - with support from NACE International, The Corrosion Society - to estimate the total cost of metallic corrosion in the U.S., and to provide cost-effective strategies to minimize its impact. The study is funded through the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21), administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Four European oil firms are reportedly negotiating with Cuba to carry out deep-water exploration of the island's Gulf of Mexico waters, and at least two are likely to sign contracts early next year, Cuban oil officials were reported as saying. In a separate development, Brazil's state oil firm Petrobras had also started drilling an exploration well in north-central Cuban coastal waters whose results will be announced in January or February.
