RCP Finance Secures Funding for Fuel Distributer in Maldives

Independent finance and capital structuring partner RCP Finance has successfully secured a $15 million credit facility from a leading Asian lender for The Hawks Pvt Ltd., a distributor of high-quality fuel in the Maldives.The Hawks caters to a range of local businesses including resort hotels, super yachts and navy vessels, with a total portfolio of more than 452 clients.Part of the credit facility has been used to facilitate the acquisition of the Bro Developer, a 2007 oil and chemical tanker with a carrying capacity of 15,000dwt.

ST Engineering Halter Marine and Offshore Upgrades 'Signet Warhorse II' Propulsion

Mississippi-based ST Engineering Halter Marine and Offshore has recently won a contract to retrofit new propulsion and maneuvering systems on an ocean towing tug, Signet Warhorse II, for Signet Maritime Corporation.The scope of work included removing existing shafts and fixed-pitched propellers to be replaced with Controllable Pitch Propellers consisting of shaft bearings and shafts. Auxiliary components including the oil distribution box and feedback unit were integrated into the machinery space.The existing bow tunnel thruster was replaced with a retractable azimuth thruster.

GE Completes Queen Mary 2 Upgrade

GE’s Marine Solutions recently provided an extensive upgrade service to one of the world’s most famous ocean liners, the Queen Mary 2 (QM2). The upgrade service with new technology supplied by GE was completed in just 18 days. Twelve years after equipping the QM2 with original propulsion motors, GE was chosen to carry out multiple crucial upgrade activities on Carnival’s flagship liner, for example: a controls upgrade, the replacement of oil distribution boxes on steerable pods, modification of harmonic filters and general maintenance on the propulsion plant.

Two Canadian Ferries to be Converted for LNG Operation

Wärtsilä has been awarded the contract by Gdansk Shiprepair Yard Remontowa S.A., to supply a scope of engines, propulsion machinery, integrated automation systems, and gas handling systems required for the mid-life upgrading of two RoPax ferries and their conversion to operate on LNG fuel. The ferries, the Spirit of British Columbia and the Spirit of Vancouver, are the flagship vessels of British Columbia Ferry Services based in Victoria, Canada. The work will be carried by the Remontowa Shiprepair yard in Poland. The contract with Wärtsilä was placed in March 2016.

MAN Propulsion Package Powers Two New AHTS

Abu Dhabi-based Adyard has delivered two AHTS vessels equipped with MAN L27/38 propulsion packages. The two Topaz Energy & Marine 67-metre (80-ton bollard pull) vessels are ready for anchor handling tug supply services and the transportation of dry and liquid cargo to and from pipe-laying barges, drilling platforms and production platforms for offshore operations. The Topaz Dignity will operate on behalf of BP, the oil and gas major, on a long-term-contract basis in the Caspian Sea – whilst Topaz Triumph may remain in the Middle East and be operated by Topaz Marine MENA.

MAN Diesel & Turbo’s medium-speed propulsion packages have gained another foothold in Middle Eastern offshore operations. After successfully completed seatrials, Abu Dhabi-based Adyard has earlier delivered the ‘Topaz Dignity’ – which is now followed by the ‘Topaz Triumph’ AHTS. Topaz Energy and Marine, a subsidiary of Oman-based Renaissance Services SAOG and a regional leader in providing offshore support vessels and engineering services, has passed yet another milestone in its 35-year history by building two Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels.

Jose F. Serrano, chairman and chief executive officer of Grupo TMM, said, "Despite weak global economic conditions, in the third quarter of 2008 TMM reported a revenue increase of 24.1 percent, net income of $14m and earnings per share of $.25. The Maritime division continues to produce solid results, confirming our strategy to grow revenues by acquiring vessels.
