Total Launches Zinia 2 Development in Deep Offshore Block, Angola
Total and its partners have taken the final investment decision to launch the Zinia 2 deep offshore development in Block 17, 150 kilometers offshore Angola. The Zinia 2 project will have a production capacity of 40,000 barrels per day (b/d), sustaining Pazflor field production, on stream since 2011. Zinia 2 is the first of several possible short-cycle developments on Block 17 that will unlock its full potential by connecting satellite reservoirs to the existing floating storage, production and offloading (FPSO) units. âZinia 2 opens a new chapter in the history of Block 17. This project will allow to extend the profitability of this prolific block, with over 2.6 billion barrels already produced.
ExxonMobil's Canada Offshore Project Produces First Oil
The Hebron oil project off the coast of eastern Canada has produced its first oil, operator Exxon Mobil said on Tuesday, in a boost to Atlantic Canada's output after years of weak crude prices. At its peak Hebron will produce up to 150,000 barrels per day (bpd), Exxon said. It will help Atlantic Canada offshore production climb 44 percent to 307,000 bpd by 2024, according to estimates from the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers. Cegal Launches Blueback ODiSI
Cegal today announced the release of Blueback ODiSI - an innovative One Dimensional Stochastic Inversion method. Blueback ODiSI produces high-quality images of reservoir property estimates and associated uncertainties. According to Sara Grant, Geophysicist, BP, âODiSI has already been used successfully in a variety of siliciclastic fields. The method jointly inverts to both facies and rock properties by generating thousands of pseudo-wells for every seismic trace, with each pseudo-well constrained by rock physics and vertical statistics models, and then matching synthetic seismic traces with a number of color-inverted angle stacks. The algorithm does not require a low-frequency model and no spatial constraints are required.
Reflex Marine to Bring FROG-6 into Mexico
Reflex Marine has been granted approval by the Mexican Merchant Marines to sell its crane transfer device, the FROG-6, in Mexico. The certification is a result of Reflex Marine working with the Mexican governmentâs testing agency, the Centro de Normalizacion y Certificacion de Productos (CNCP) for over a year, as well as the national oil operator PEMEX with the help of its local partner GINEMEX. The FROG-6 was also exhibited at the Petroleum Exhibition and Conference of Mexico (PECOM) where it received a huge amount of attention from operators, crew and the media.
EXMAR Teams Up With Pacific Rubiales
EXMAR has teamed up with Pacific Rubiales to build a small-scale LNG export project in northern Colombia. The Colombian-Canadian exploration and production player and EXMAR have begun front-end engineering and design for the scheme. Plans involve building a small liquefaction barge and a pipeline from the companyâs La Creciente gas field to the Caribbean coast and shipping to the targeted markets. Bush-Cheney: Is It An Oil Industry Dream Team?
The U.S. oil industry may have found its dream team with Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush's pick of Dick Cheney, former CEO of Halliburton Company, as his vice presidential running mate. American energy firms could get a break from environmental regulations and policies imposed under the Clinton-Gore administration that industry representatives claim have discouraged domestic oil production and left the United States vulnerable to foreign suppliers like OPEC. Bush's prior experience as an independent oil operator had already won him industry favor, and that popularity is likely to grow with Cheney, who headed the world's largest oil field service company, now joining the ticket.
Japanese-Chartered Tanker Is Free To Leave
The Indonesian Supreme Court has ruled that a Japanese-charted oil tanker, held up by a local dispute, can leave the country but when was unclear, an official with the oil company involved said. The incident, involving a tanker chartered by trading house Mitsubishi Corp., was caused by a dispute between PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia, Indonesia's biggest oil operator, and a local contractor. "Today, we received the decision from the Supreme Court saying that the content of the ship is owned by the state... therefore the order should be revoked," Caltex spokesman Poedyo Oetomo said. "That means the ship can sail. But the process may take time," he said.
