Thome Group Appoints New CEO

The Thome Group has announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, Olav Magnus Nortun, who will take up the position on 1st April, 2015. Mr Nortun, a Norwegian national, brings with him vast experience in the maritime industry, especially in the areas of strategic development and governance of production, knowledge management and systems related to ship classification. He has worked with DNV GL for many years in different locations around the world, culminating in his most recent role as Executive Vice President of its Classification Division.

Drydocks World hosts INTERTANKO Team

Drydocks World received a high-level delegation of the Council members from the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO) on 11 November. The delegation included Mr. Olav Eek Thorstensen, MD & CEO of Thome Shipmanagement, Ms. Ann-Marie Astrom, Vice Chairman of the Rederi AB Gotland. The delegation also included members of the board: Mr. Derya Sabaz, COO / Co-owner of v Besiktas Likid AS, Mr. Takis E. Koutris, Managing Director of Roxana Shipping SA, Mr. Tim Horne, Managing Director of Teekay, Mr. Wellington Koo, Executive Director of Valles Shipping and Mr. Erik Ranheim, Staff Member of the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO). Thome J/V Aims to Increase Pool of Indian Ship's Officers

Thome Ship Management of Singapore inks a joint venture partnership with Doehle Danautic, a leading shipping service provider in India. In what is to be seen as a significant further step into India for Thome Ship Management, the group is joining with Doehle Danautic to expand the pool of Indian officers for its tanker, drybulk and offshore fleets reaffirming its long-term commitment to India as a future maritime sourcing hub for qualified Indian officers for worldwide trading. The main driver is to build up the partnership with Doehle Danautic to provide well trained, professional officers for Thome's tanker and drybulk fleets in parallel to its officers provided by existing manning agency relations in India and Sri Lanka.

Thome Ship Management Appoints New Managing Director

Carsten Brix Ostenfeldt has been appointed Managing Director of Thome Ship Management with immediate effect. He replaces Bjorn Hojgaard who has resigned from the group to pursue other interests. Carsten becomes Managing Director of Thome Ship Management after serving as the company’s Technical Director for the last two years.
