OMSA Announces Workforce Development Committee

The Offshore Marine Service Association (OMSA) on Tuesday announced the formation of the OMSA Workforce Development Committee and requested Members nominate professionals to the Committee. Like much of the international maritime industry, OMSA members are working to secure a sufficient number of mariners for their current operations, increased activity in traditional offshore markets, and the new offshore wind market. This challenge has become increasingly difficult as the industry confronts the impacts of the global pandemic as well as regulatory, societal, and market changes.

OMSA Names Fuhrmann to Regulatory Affairs Post

The Offshore Marine Service Association (OMSA) announced the resignation of long-time Vice President, Richard Wells. Interview: Aaron Smith Zeroes in on the Offshore Sector

As the Executive Director for the Offshore Supply Vessel Dynamic Positioning Authority (OSVDPA), Aaron Smith is charged with managing the day-to-day operation of the Authority. Along with the OSVDPA Board of Directors and Technical Advisory Council (TAC), Aaron has helped to craft the Authority’s dynamic positioning operator (DPO) certification program. This includes ensuring that the program is ultimately accepted by the offshore energy industry, and its many international and domestic counterparts.

Aaron Smith Takes the Helm at OMSA

Aaron Smith has been appointed as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of the Offshore Marine Services Association, Inc. (OMSA), the national trade association representing the U.S.-flag offshore workboat industry. Smith’s appointment follows the resignation of Ben Billings, who has led OMSA since 2013. Smith has held various positions in government and public affairs. He has been instrumental in the development of OSVDPA, a dynamic positioning certification authority for the OSV industry. Prior to that, he served in Washington, D.C.

OMSA Enters Leadership Transition

The Offshore Marine Service Association announced that it will begin a transition of leadership. Several months ago, President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Adams informed the OMSA Board of Directors that he would be stepping down by the end of the year to manage a startup business that he and his partners have developed in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. “Jim has done an outstanding job and he will be genuinely missed. He has expertly guided OMSA through some difficult waters.

Adams Interim President & CEO at OMSA

The Offshore Marine Service Association (OMSA) announced the appointment of James Adams as interim President and Chief Executive Officer. Adams’ appointment followed the resignation of Ken Wells, who has led OMSA since 2004. Wells left the organization in order to pursue other opportunities.  Otto Candies, III, the chairman of OMSA’s board of directors stated, “We are sorry to see Ken go as he has served our organization and members energetically for six years.  We are excited that Jim Adams has joined us in an interim capacity while we conduct a national search for a new CEO to lead OMSA.”  Adams has held a variety of positions in government and public affairs and was most recently Vice President of Government Affairs for American Commercial Lines, Inc.

OSMA Elects New Officers

The Offshore Marine Service Association (OMSA) has elected Andy Brauninger, president of Seabulk Offshore, Ltd., as chairman of the board and Milton Rose, president of SEACOR Marine, Inc., has been elected vice-chairman of the association. OMSA’s new secretary/treasurer is Minor Cheramie, Jr., president of L&M Botruc Rentals, Inc. Also elected to the OMSA board of directors are: Van C. De Witt, vice-president and COO of Sea Mar Management, Inc.; Hank Danos, president and CEO of Danos & Curole Marine Contractors, Inc.; Marilyn Muchowich Stanley, president of Offshore Oil Service, Inc., Janson Graham, president of C&G Boat Works, Inc., and Robert M. Thompson, Sr., CEO of the Cross Group Ltd.
