Navy Contract: $158m to Cianbro

Cianbro Corp., Pittsfield, Maine, is awarded a $157,949,610 firm-fixed-price contract for construction of a super flood basin and extending portal crane rails for Dry Dock #1 located at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNS).  Work will be performed in Kittery, Maine, and is expected to be completed by March 2022.  Fiscal 2019 military construction, (Navy) contract funds in the amount of $157,949,610 are obligated on this award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  This contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website with one proposal received.  The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia, is the contracting activity (N40085-20-C-8500).

Jay Cashman Wins Navy Contract

Jay Cashman, Inc., Quincy, Massachusetts, is being awarded a $14,321,000 firm-fixed-price contract for USS Constitution, Berth 1 pier repairs at Charlestown Navy Yard. This project will provide a safe mooring for USS Constitution and the provision of safe visitor access to the ship. The work includes demolition, removal and disposal of existing site features, hazardous materials, waterfront structures, utility systems and the provision of steel sheet pile bulkhead, pile supported pier, fender systems, mooring hardware, mooring dolphins, grading, paving and cobblestone pavement, drainage systems, water systems, electric power and lighting systems, landscape features, and incidental related work.

Navy Awards Contract for Energy and Structural Repairs

Environmental Chemical Corp. is being awarded a $38,228,490 firm-fixed-price contract for energy and structural repairs to the consolidated submarine operations, Building 178, at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The work to be performed provides for structural repairs and modernizes Building 178 to create a consolidated state-of-the-art shipyard industrial material handling facility. The project goal is to provide 25,062 million metric British Thermal Units of annual energy savings and achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver certification. Work will be performed in Kittery, Maine, and is expected to be completed by December 2014. Contract funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

Kings Bay Sub Base Contract Awarded

Kings Bay Support Services, L.L.C., Baton Rouge, La., is being awarded a $35,188,366 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for base operations support services at Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay. The work to be performed provides for base operations support services including public safety, harbor security, security operations, supply, personnel support, facilities support, facility management/facility investment, other (swimming pools), pavement clearance, utilities, chiller, electrical, wastewater, steam, water, telecommunications, compressed air, base support vehicles and equipment, and environmental. Services also include vertical transportation equipment located at Shellman Bluff, Ga.

Maritime Mentorship Programme 2009

On July 28 2009, the T&T Shipbuilding and Repair (S&R) Cluster undertook two presentations to some 50 mentees which formed part of their contribution to this annual Maritime Programme. Organized by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago (GoTT) as an initiative to promote the Shipbuilding and Repair sector to young persons between the age group 15–17 years, the long term aim is to help diversify the country from the energy sector. Wilfred de Gannes – S&R Deputy Leader, also gave a brief Introductory Address on the Cluster’s work to the Mentees.

New Navy Contracts

L-3 Services, Inc., Unidyne Division, Norfolk, Va., is being awarded a $46,670,682 indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity, cost plus fixed fee contract for engineering services to operate and maintain the Technology Center for Cables and Connectors (TC3) facility located at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division (NUWC), Newport. Efforts will include: TC3 facilities maintenance and operation, parts procurement and logistic services, fabrication services, research and development services, test and evaluation services, reliability maintainability availability services, programmatic support, and in-service engineering activity services in support of sensors and sonar systems.

New Navy Contracts

Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co., Inc., Honolulu, Hawaii, is being awarded $7,385,000 for firm-fixed-price task order #0009 under a previously awarded multiple award construction contract (N62742-04-D-1302) for the wharf repairs at Naval Station, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This project includes repairs and preservation to the pier superstructure, fender system, concrete supporting piles and concrete decking. The project also includes replacement of all mooring hardware and repair of all mechanical, electrical, and communications systems. Work will be performed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and is expected to be completed by February, 2010. Contract funds in the amount of $7,385,000 will expire at the end of the fiscal year. Three proposals were received for this task order.

New Navy Contracts

L3 Communications Titan Corp., San Diego, Calif., is being awarded a $5,617,177 modification on a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract (N00019-07-C-0071), to exercise an option for the Phase II study and analysis to develop innovative solutions to be used in mission requirements for the Affordable Weapons System. This weapon system is being designed to fill a sea-based land attack and strike mission, to operate from ships, with potential for a sea-based Navy and Marine Corps aircraft launch capability. Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif., and is expected to be completed in November 2009. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.
