The wife of Shark Tank star Kevin O'Leary has been charged with careless operation of a vehicle, after she was involved in a boat crash that resulted in two deaths, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said on Tuesday.Police said Linda O'Leary was driving a boat that struck a second boat on a lake in Muskoka, a popular cottage country part of Canada, in late August.In addition to the two fatalities, the accident caused three injuries.If Linda O'Leary is convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 18 months in prison and C$1 million ($755,000) fine, police said.The driver of the second boat, Richard Ruh, 57, of Orchard Park, New York, has also been charged, with failing to exhibit navigation lights.

Detroit Coast Guard members are participating in a Southeast Michigan Area Maritime Security Committee multi-agency table-top exercise Wednesday at the Detroit Fire Department Regional Training Center. The purpose of this exercise is to test plans and policies of federal, provincial, state and local area agencies in response to a transportation security incident. In accordance with the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program, a table-top exercise is a discussion based exercise. There will not be any resources deployed directly as a result of this exercise. More than 150 participants from 50 agencies are expected to participate in the exercise.

Canadian Coast Guard and/or United States Coast Guard will be conducting icebreaking operations as they escort the laker MV Algomarine from Lake Michigan into Lake Huron, including Georgian Bay, where it will travel to Owen Sound for a winter lay-up. Operations for these areas are expected to take place on January 25 and 26, 2014. However, dates and routes are subject to change with little or no notice due to weather, ice conditions, shipping schedules or other unexpected situations.

A U.S. Coast Guard rescue crew from Coast Guard Air Station Detroit hoisted an injured man off of Lake St. Clair in Ontario, Canada, after the all-terrain vehicle on which he and three friends were riding overturned. The group was on an ice fishing trip when the accident occurred about 2 miles from shore. Controllers at the Coast Guard’s 9th District Command Center received a request for assistance from Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Trenton, Ontario , which was relaying the report from the Ontario Provincial Police.

The Canadian Coast Guard, in partnership with the United States Coast Guard and the Ontario Provincial Police, has an important safety message for all ice surface users near icebreaking operations and shipping routes in the Great Lakes. Broken and fragmented icy tracks left behind by icebreaking operations and other ship traffic may not freeze over immediately. Newly fallen snow may obscure icebreaker and ship tracks and changes in weather contribute to unsafe ice conditions that may remain long after the ships have left the area. All ice on or near the planned shipping routes and icebreaking operations should be considered unsafe during and after ship transits through these routes.

This morning, the RCMP along with partners from the Toronto Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police detailed circumstances that led to the arrest of 53 year old Qing Quentin Huang of Toronto. Mr. Huang has been charged under the Security of Information Act with two counts of attempt to communicate to a foreign entity information that the Government of Canada is taking measures to safeguard. On Thursday, November 28, 2013, the RCMP was informed that Mr. Huang was taking steps to pass sensitive information to authorities from the People’s Republic of China. The information relates to certain elements of the Government of Canada National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy which includes patrol ships, frigates, naval auxiliary vessels, science research vessels and ice breakers.

The tri-hulled ReflexTM 850 Spyder underwent assessment and evaluation trials on Lake Ontario off Port Credit and Burlington’s LaSalle Park by with federal provincial and municipal police marine units from July 20 to 23. Completely designed locally and manufactured in Maine, U.S., the 28-ft craft comes to Canadian waters after considerable testing in the United States by various police agencies. The U.S. agencies expressed significant admiration for the vessel after comparing the ReflexTM tri-hulled speed and maneuvering prowess against their own traditional V-hulled patrol vessels…

MetalCraft Marine, Inc. has completed the first production run of the company's semi-custom KF-22 Center Cockpit Patrol Craft for the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). The 10 boat order is a joint procurement between the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the OPP. The Patrol Craft is heavily built, yet light-weight, due to a unique construction process. A KF-22 has a .25 in. bottom, .1875 in. side plate, a heavily reinforced bow and .75 in. aluminum transom; yet, a base center console model weighs a mere 1,250 lbs., and can still carry three times its weight. Its lightweight design means the vessel requires little horsepower and fuel. This version carries 160 gal. of fuel, and is outfitted with a Volvo 5.7 liter 265 hp engine, with stainless Duoprop drive leg.
