McMurdo Completes Techno-Sciences Acquisition

Strategic acquisition validates Orolia's McMurdo Group as premier supplier of COSPAS-SARSAT search and rescue solutions, establishes U.S. McMurdo Group, a global company in end-to-end search and rescue (SAR) and maritime domain awareness (MDA) solutions, today announced the successful acquisition of Techno-Sciences, Inc. (TSi), a provider of SAR satellite ground stations, integrated emergency response center systems and coastal surveillance solutions. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. TSi’s Beltsville, Maryland location becomes the U.S. Headquarters for McMurdo Group, a division of Orolia (NYSE Alternext Paris – FR0010501015 – ALORO), global specialist in critical Global Navigation Satellite System solutions.

McMurdo Widens AIS Range with Smartfind M15 Receiver

Smartfind M15 Automatic Identification System (AIS) Receiver

McMurdo, a business of the Orolia Group, announced that the Smartfind M15 Automatic Identification System (AIS) Receiver is now available. Designed for recreational vessels using a computer with AIS-capable navigation software, it receives AIS messages, so can see other AIS equipped vessels within VHF range and can assist with collision avoidance. The Smartfind M15 AIS Receiver will decode all AIS messages that are transmitted by AIS Class A, Class B transponders, AIS SARTs, AIS MOBs and Aids To Navigation, the manufacturer claims.

M5 AIS Class A Transponder

McMurdo, a business of the Orolia Group, announced that Smartfind M5 AIS Class A Transponder is now available. The Smartfind M5 Automatic Identification System (AIS) Class A Transponder, previewed at Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) 2012 in Amsterdam, is part of McMurdo’s new range of AIS products that reflect its excellence in innovation and advancement in marine technology. The Smartfind M5 AIS Class A Transponder gives mariners the ability to view at a glance the AIS status of vessels all around them and provides access to a host of detailed navigation information.

Orolia Acquires Boatracs Inc.

The Boatracs acquisition is part of the Orolia group’s strategy to offer more complete business solutions to its customers operating critical infrastructure in remote or harsh environments. These solutions consist of a hardware platform, a communications beacon which allows for wireless data transmission and reception and software which provides a web-based user interface to facilitate effective data communications between ship and shore. Oriola says itsl business model calls for initial hardware sales followed by recurring airtime revenue and SaaS (Software as a Service).

Wilkinson Joins McMurdo as Sales Director

McMurdo Ltd, a company of the Orolia Group (NYSE Alternext Paris – FR0010501015 – ALORO) has appointed Ross Wilkinson as Sales Director. Wilkinson’s responsibilities will be focused on McMurdo Ltd’s Kannad Marine and McMurdo brands of emergency location beacons and safety equipment in the maritime and leisure marine sectors, as well as the Davis brand of weather instruments, for which McMurdo Ltd is the UK distributor. Wilkinson will also be working with the marketing department to further develop a world leading presence with all the brands.
