MOL Nets Charter in Russia for New Ice-breaking Condensate Carrier

Japanese shipping giant Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has signed a charter contract for a newbuilding ice-breaking tanker that will transport condensate from the Arctic LNG 2 Project on Russia’s Gydan Peninsula.The contract was signed by a MOL subsidiary with the project company, whose largest shareholder is Russia-based PAO NOVATEK. The vessel,  slated for delivery in 2024, will be constructed in China by Guangzhou Shipyard International Company, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC).

MOL Orders Four LNG Carriers for NOVATEK Charter

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) on Tuesday announced it has ordered four new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers from South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME) for delivery in 2024.The Japanese shipping company said it has signed time charter contracts for the four newbuilds with NOVATEK Gas & Power Asia Pte. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Russia's PAO NOVATEK.The 174,000-cubic-meter capacity newbuilds will be equipped with the "cutting-edge" MAN Energy Solutions engines, which offer improved fuel efficiency, MOL said.

New Ship Repair Cluster Coming to Russia’s Far East

A group of Russian maritime stakeholders have agreed to develop ship repair cluster in the country’s Far East.The trilateral agreement between PAO Sovcomflot, SMART LNG (a joint venture between PAO Sovcomflot and PAO NOVATEK) and Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center (FESRC, a subsidiary of Rosneft) was signed by: Andrey Shishkin, CEO of FESRC and Vice-President for Energy, Localization and Innovation of Rosneft; Igor Tonkovidov, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sovcomflot, and Sergey Frank, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SMART LNG.

Russian shipbuilder Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex on Tuesday held a keel laying ceremony for a new Arctic liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier ordered by compatriot shipowner PAO Sovcomflot (SCF Group).The newbuild is the lead vessel in a series of 15 carriers ordered from Zvezda for servicing the Arctic LNG 2 project. Yamal LNG Gets All 15 Arc7 Ice-Class Tankers

Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer Yamal LNG  announced the operational start of the new Arc7 ice-class LNG tanker “Yakov Gakkel”,  the fifteenth and final Arc7 ice-class tanker built specifically for the Project.The Yakov Gakkel has loaded the 354th LNG cargo in the port of Sabetta bound to China, said a press note.The vessel was built by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) and is owned and operated by a 50-50 joint venture by Teekay LNG and China LNG Shipping. Yamal LNG Exceeds Nameplate Capacity

Japanese Backers for Novatek's LNG Complexes

Russia’s largest independent natural gas producer and LNG project operator Novatek has formed ties with Japan's shipper Mitsui O.S.K. Vladimir Rusanov Opens Northern Sea Route

Russian natural gas producer Novatek announced that the Arc7 ice-class LNG tanker 'Vladimir Rusanov' completed the Northern Sea Route (NSR) passage via the Eastern direction, delivering an LNG cargo from the Yamal LNG project, at the port of Sabetta, to China's port of Tianjin.The 168,560 cbm vessel shipped transited the ice-covered part of the route in only 6days, setting a new record for independent passage via the NSR without ice-breaking support with cargo on board.The net voyage time from Sabetta to the destination port was completed in a record 16 days, which is less than half the time required to transport a cargo of LNG along the traditional westbound route via the Suez Canal and Strait of Malacca."For the second year in a row…

MOL Names 3rd Yamal LNG Carrier

Japanese logistics major Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) announced that a naming ceremony for an ice-breaking LNG carrier, jointly ordered by MOL and China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited (China COSCO Shipping), was held at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME).The newbuilding has been named Nikolay Urvantsev, in honor of the famous Russian Arctic explorer and geologist. Yamal LNG Shipped 10MT

Yamal LNG, a joint venture liquefied natural gas (LNG) production project in Sabetta, Russia, has shipped its ten millionth ton of LNG since the commencement of the project.The 136th cargo offloaded onto the Arc7 ice-class tanker “Vladimir Vize” reached 10 million tons of LNG produced since the start-up of Train 1 in December 2017.Yamal LNG is constructing a 17.4 mtpa natural gas liquefaction plant comprised of three LNG trains of 5.5 mtpa each and one LNG train of 900 thousand tons per annum, utilizing the hydrocarbon resources of the South-Tambeyskoye field in the Russian Arctic.The first LNG Train began production in Q4 2017 and Trains 2 and 3 — in July 2018 and November 2018, respectively.

Novatek, Saibu Gas Ink MoU

Arctic LNG 2 to Buy Nuovo Pignone Turbines

Russia's largest independent natural gas producer PAO Novatek announced that its next LNG project, Arctic LNG 2 and Nuovo Pignone (Italy) signed an agreement on turbo machinery equipment.The the seventh largest publicly traded company globally by natural gas production volume said in a press release that the agreement provides for the supply of gas turbine compressors and gas turbine generators for the three liquefaction trains for the Arctic LNG 2 project.“Our partnership with Nuovo Pignone extends back to 2013 as they supplied gas turbine compressors for the three liquefaction trains of our Yamal LNG project.” noted Leonid Mikhelson, Novatek's Chairman of the Management Board.“For Arctic LNG 2, we need the unique turbo machinery to produce 6.6 million tons of LNG per annum.

Yamal LNG Reaches Full Capacity

The Yamal liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Arctic Russia officially commissioned the third and last production line Tuesday.Russia's independent natural gas producer PAO Novatek announced that its joint venture Yamal LNG has reached full capacity at the plant’s three LNG trains.The Yamal LNG project was implemented in record time and on budget with the launches of the second and third trains made ahead of schedule by six months and more than a year, respectively. Yamal LNG Fills-up 100th Tanker

Novatek Ships First LNG Cargo To China Via Arctic

Yarudeyskoye Field Produced 10 MT of Crude Oil

Novatek, Siemens Sign LNG Partnership

Russia's natural gas producer Novatek and German engineering giant Siemens have signed a strategic partnership agreement that covers cooperation in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector.Novatek said in a press release that the agreement was signed by Novatek Chief Executive Leonid Mikhelson and his Siemens counterpart Joe Kaeser in Moscow.According to the agreement, the parties intend to strengthen and develop the strategic partnership and cooperation in integrated gas-to-power projects on a “turn-key” basis inclusive of LNG supply, downstream and power generation, large-, mid- and small-scale LNG liquefaction plants and other topics of mutual interest.

Icebreaking LNG Carrier Named Vladimir Vize

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) announced that a naming ceremony for a new icebreaking liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, which was jointly ordered by MOL and China COSCO Shipping Corporation, was held at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) on September 11.The newbuild was named the Vladimir Vize by Irina Ershova of PAO Novatek, the major shareholder in the Yamal LNG project. Yamal LNG Commissioned in Record Time

Russia’s PAO Novatek has launched a second liquefied natural gas (LNG) production train at its plant on the Yamal peninsula ahead of schedule.Russia's largest independent natural gas producer announced that "Yamal LNG has launched the second LNG train and dispatched the first cargo from this unit. Russia's Novatek Ships First LNG Cargo to Brazil

Russian natural gas producer Novatek has shipped its first LNG cargo to the Brazilian market with LNG produced from the Yamal LNG project.A statement from PAO Novatek said that its wholly owned subsidiary, Novatek Gas and Power Asia Pte.
