Chinese Shipyard Repairs Large Bulker on Time

The MV Handan Steel is an ore carrier belonging to an English company, size: LOA 330m Breadth 60m. The main engine repair involved   the chemical cleaning of the heat exchanger, M/E air cooler x 2sets, main L/O cooler x 1set, and main & auxiliary atmosphere condenser repair. The deck work scope mainly included No.5 cargo hold bulkhead partial steel renewal, E/R main engine ventilation duct to be cropped and renewed, installation of the limit for aft D/E. The coating work included  SA2 sandblasting for the bulkhead of five cargo holds from 16m high downwards with painting of two F/C, totally 14,630 m2, and the hull (16000m2) to be SA2 sandblasted with painting of two T/C, one F/C. The contracting time was 12 days.

Keppel Cebu Fixes to Reefers

Philippines’ Keppel Cebu shipyard, part of Singapore’s Keppel Offshore & Marine, has repaired two reefer vessels – the first was the 7,212 grt Uranus, shipmanaged by London Ship Managers, London. The vessel arrived in the yard for her scheduled drydocking and repairs under Lloyds Register (LR) Class. Major work included the removal of the goose neck, building-up pins and fabricated spare gooseneck heel pins, renewal of lifeboat davit pins, servicing and renewal seal of the anchor windlass, renewal of the outboard seal and bonding of inboard seal, partial renewal of keel plate and installed gear box doublers at mooring and windlass, polishing and building-up propeller blades, nitrogen pressure testing on refrigerating lines.
