Signet Maritime Corporation continues to expand its diverse fleet by awarding a contract for the construction of two Robert Allan Ltd. designed tugs to Patti Marine Enterprises, Inc. in Pensacola, Florida. A 170-foot long, 40-foot wide fishing vessel, now named Defender, recently underwent a significant conversion to become the first fish pumping vessel in the Global Seas and Patti Marine Enterprises Inc fleet. Simrad Commercial, in partnership with Patti Marine Enterprises, has announced the latest vessel commissioned for the Truex clamming fleet is outfitted with a complete suite of Simrad Commercial marine electronics. Seawatcher II, a 152-foot clamming vessel, features two Simrad NSO evo2 processors driving five 18.5-inch monitors, an AP70 Autopilot, Halo-4 and Halo-6 Pulse Compression Radar systems and two SonarHub sonar processing systems. The design of the Seawatcher II is based on an original concept developed in partnership with the Truex family in 2003.

Jensen Maritime-Designed Pushboat Delivered
The Jensen Maritime-designed river push boat, the M/V Stephenson II, has been delivered to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for use in Gascondale, MO, in the Corps' Kansas City district. Jensen performed the functional design and production lofting of the ABS Classed, 58-ft, 770-horsepower boat, which will provide operational support for the district's operations and maintenance mission on the lower Missouri River as well as for general construction and mitigation projects. US-based Jensen Maritime, completes a major redesign of the Global Sea-managed fishing vessel 'Bering Defender'. The project, which improved the vessel’s efficiency and hold capacity, outfitted it for pollock fishing in the challenging waters of Alaska’s Bering Sea. The refurbished fishing boat, formerly named Dona Martita, recently arrived in Seattle after departing the East Coast and transiting the Panama Canal. Global Seas, based in Seattle, is an operator of a diverse fleet of research and fishing vessels.

Two Ramparts Class Tugs for Signet Maritime
In the summer of this year, Signet Maritime took delivery of Signet Arcturus & Signet Polaris, the eighth and ninth tugs designed for them by Robert Allan Ltd. of Vancouver, Canada to add to its fleet of 37 conventional and ASD vessels. The tugs were constructed at Patti Marine Enterprises in Pensacola, Florida. The tugs are based on the Signet Weatherly design, but with additional power and higher bollard pull. The vessels are intended for multidisciplinary work including offshore support, towing, ship-assist, ship escort, subsea and rig moves.
Rigdon Takes Delivery of Seventh PSV
Rigdon Marine recently received the M/V Conti, the seventh of ten GPA 640 platform supply vessels being built at Bender Shipyard in Mobile, Alabama. Mrs. Patti Guice, wife of Billy Guice, Vice President of Marketing for Rigdon Marine, christened the vessel before it dispatched for contract work in the Gulf of Mexico. “We are extremely please that the M/V Conti was immediately dispatched to support the worldwide offshore activities of a prominent oil service company,” said Larry Rigdon. Rigdon Marine is scheduled to take delivery of sister ships M/V St. Louis in April, 2005; M/V Toulouse in June, 2005; and M/V Esplanade in August, 2005.

Harley Marine Acquires 10 Vessels from Enterprise Marine
Harley Marine Services (HMS), a full service marine transportation provider, has acquired certain offshore marine assets of Enterprise Marine Services LLC (EMS), a subsidiary of Enterprise Products Partners, L.P. The acquisition includes 10 vessels to be used in current operations: six double hull petroleum barges and four tugboats. Harley Marine will also acquire the expertise and knowledge of current Enterprise employees associated with these assets, making the transition smooth and seamless as the vessels are incorporated into the Harley Marine fleet and adapt to the company's policies and procedures, the company said. Z-Drive Tech Spreads on US Waterways
Enterprise Marine Services, a subsidiary of Enterprise Products Partners L.P., is making a major commitment to Z-Drives for the U.S. inland waterways. They currently have four Z-Drive boats in service and have taken delivery of two new Z-Drive vessels from Sneed Shipbuilding in Texas with three more under construction. The new vessels, named Sheridan A and Terry H, were built by Sneed Shipbuilding, Inc., Channelview, Texas. They measure 87 by 34 by 11.5 feet and have a 34-foot 10-inch eye level. They are powered with a pair of 1,000 hp.
Container Lines to Cut Terminal Cost in China
Eleven container liner transportation companies have promised to cut or standardize the Terminal Handling Charges (THC) in order to lower nearly 3.5 billion yuan burden of export enterprises each year, according to National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
