Roden Joins Fairbanks Morse Engine

Fairbanks Morse Engine, an EnPro Industries (NYSE: NPO) company, announced that Paul Roden has joined the company as Vice President, Washington Operations. In this new role he will represent the company in discussions with Congress and with shipyards, as well as customers in the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security. Mr. Roden joins Fairbanks Morse Engine from the U.S. Coast Guard, where he retired with the rank of Captain following a distinguished service career. His most recent assignment was Chief of the Office of Naval Engineering at USCG headquarters…

SNAME Partners on Center to Train Naval Systems Experts

The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) announced that a program dedicated to the training of future naval systems engineers will soon be realized. A $3.2m contract awarded May 6 from the Naval Sea Systems Command, which includes five additional years of optional extensions that could add up to $49.9m, will establish a Naval Engineering Education Center (NEEC) Consortium in partnership with fifteen leading US colleges and universities, SNAME and the American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE). For over a century SNAME has been the international society for practitioners of the maritime arts and sciences. Coast Guard ELC Receives Lucas Plaque Award

During a ceremony held on July 30th at the U.S. Coast Guard Yard complex, Rear Admiral Dale G. Gabel, Coast Guard Assistant Commandant for Engineering and Logistics, presented the 2007 Lucas Plaque Award to the Coast Guard Engineering Logistics Center (ELC). Sponsored by the American Society of Naval Engineers, the Lucas Plaque is presented as an award of excellence to a Coast Guard Naval Engineering organization that has made an outstanding contribution to the Coast Guard Naval Engineering program. The ELC is located in Baltimore, MD and its workforce of 550 military and civilian members provide engineering and supply support to all U.S. Coast Guard cutters, boats, and shore stations.
