High LNG Prices Spur Demand for Dual-fuel Tankers - Executive

Even as liquefied natural gas (LNG) is seen as a key transitionary fuel for bunkering, soaring prices of the super-chilled fuel have led to higher demand for ships with dual-fuel tankers, said an industry executive. The global shipping industry is seeking to reduce its reliance on oil as it tries to meet carbon emission reduction targets set out by the U.N.'s International Maritime Organization. These include cutting carbon emissions by 40% from 2008 levels by 2030, and overall greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2050."We believe that LNG will be one of the major fuels for bunkering.

ABS Grants AIP for Ammonia Bunkering Vessel Design

Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. on Tuesday announced that the company, along with ITOCHU Corporation has obtained approval in principle (AIP) from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) for an ammonia bunkering vessel concept.The project is part of a joint development study on ammonia fuel supply chain in Singapore. Pavilion Energy Pens 10-Year LNG Deal with BP

Singapore's Pavilion Energy has signed a 10-year deal to buy liquefied natural gas (LNG) from BP's Singapore unit starting in 2024, the companies said on Wednesday, as the city-state seeks to diversify its gas supply sources.The long-term binding LNG sale and purchase agreement (SPA) is for the supply of about 0.8 million tonnes of LNG a year to Singapore, Pavilion and BP said in a joint statement. They did not give financial details.This is the third long-term deal that Pavilion, owned by Singapore state investor Temasek Holdings, has signed since November.

Total in 10-Year LNG Bunkering Pact with Pavilion

Tanzania Builds $30bn LNG Project

MOL Signs LNG Charter with Pavilion Gas

Shell Wells Come Up Dry in Tanzania

Ophir and its joint venture partners, BG Tanzania (Shell) and Pavilion Energy, have concluded the drilling of two exploration wells offshore Tanzania, safely and on time.   The programme comprised Kitatange-1 in Block 1 and Bunju-1 in Block 4.  After evaluation, Shell, the operator of Blocks 1 and 4, has confirmed that good quality reservoir was encountered in both wells, however hydrocarbons were not found.   The Noble Globetrotter 2 rig has been demobilised from site.  The two wells fulfil the final exploration commitments as per the exploration licences issued by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MEM).   Subsequent to the completion of drilling Kitatange-1, a bridging licence has been awarded for the existing discovery Locations in Block 1.

Singapore LNG Market to Grow at 10.39% Through 2025

The market for LNG in Singapore is projected to grow at a CAGR 10.39% during 2016-2025, due to the push from Singapore government towards adoption of cleaner energy sources, capacity addition of natural gas / LNG based power plants and emergence of Singapore as a regional trading hub for LNG in Asia-Pacific. "Growing demand from power generation sector, favorable LNG prices and government initiatives to setup Singapore as LNG hub is expected to drive Singapore LNG market," says the report by TechSci Research. Pavilion Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pavilion Gas Pte Ltd. inked an agreement with BP in 2016, under which the British company would supply around 0.4 million tonnes per year of LNG for 20 years from 2019, thereby increasing the supply of LNG in the country.

ExxonMobil brings to this partnership strengths in LNG shipping and terminal operations.
