Sembmarine to Build LNG Bunker Tanker for MOL

Singapore-based Sembcorp Marine (Sembmarine) secured new contracts worth $175m, for projects comprising the design and construction of a 12,000-cubic-metre (cbm) LNG bunker vessel as well as repair and modernisation works on 13 cruise ships.The LNG bunker vessel which is for delivery to Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) in 2021 will be constructed at Sembcorp Marine Tuas Boulevard Yard, said the company specialising in a full spectrum of integrated solutions in ship repair, shipbuilding, ship conversion, rig building and offshore engineering & construction.The 112m long and 22m wide LNG bunker vessel will have two GTT Mark III Flex membrane tanks with a combined 12…

Singapore LNG Market to Grow at 10.39% Through 2025

The market for LNG in Singapore is projected to grow at a CAGR 10.39% during 2016-2025, due to the push from Singapore government towards adoption of cleaner energy sources, capacity addition of natural gas / LNG based power plants and emergence of Singapore as a regional trading hub for LNG in Asia-Pacific. "Growing demand from power generation sector, favorable LNG prices and government initiatives to setup Singapore as LNG hub is expected to drive Singapore LNG market," says the report by TechSci Research. Pavilion Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pavilion Gas Pte Ltd. inked an agreement with BP in 2016, under which the British company would supply around 0.4 million tonnes per year of LNG for 20 years from 2019, thereby increasing the supply of LNG in the country.

Partners to Build LNG Dual-fuel Bunker Ship for Singapore

Harley Marine International Holdings Pte. Ltd. said it has signed an MoU with Pavilion Gas Pte. Ltd, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Mitsui) to build the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fueled bunker tanker for Singapore. The new 7,500 DWT LNG dual-fueled vessel will be co-funded up to S$2 million (US$1.46 million) by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) through its LNG Bunkering Pilot Program (LBPP) Grant. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) will soon be enforcing a global Sulphur content cap of 0.5 percent on bunker fuels. LNG, as a marine fuel is a cleaner alternative for the industry. LNG is essentially natural gas, or about 88-97 percent methane cooled down to -262°F.

BP, Pavilion Ink Long-Term LNG Deals

Pavilion to buy 0.4 mln tpy LNG from BP for 20 years. Aims to become a global LNG firm in medium to long term. Working with SGX, regional govts on LNG price marker. Singapore's Pavilion Energy said it had signed two long-term contracts to buy liquefied natural gas (LNG) for trading and supply to Asia, adding to a previous contract as the state-owned firm seeks to become a global supplier. Pavilion Energy said in a statement on Wednesday its wholly owned subsidiary Pavilion Gas Pte Ltd had struck a deal with BP under which the British company will supply it with 0.4 million tonnes per year (tpy) of LNG for 20 years from 2019. It did not say how much Pavilion would pay for the LNG.
