SmartWire-DT Achieves DNV GL Type Approval

Eaton is expanding its product portfolio for the marine and shipbuilding industry with its SmartWire-DT technology, certified by DNV GL. The power management company’s SmartWire-DT products have received type approval from the largest classification organization in the world for integration in control cabinets with protection rating IP20. The offering also includes the XV-300 and XV-100 families of combined HMI/PLCs management and control units with touch technology, in addition to the XP-500 series industry-standard PCs.

VT Halter Launches Tug for Bouchard

VT Halter Marine, Inc. (VT Halter Marine), a company of Vision Technologies Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), announces the launch of the M/V Frederick E. Bouchard, at its Moss Point Marine Shipyard Facility in Escatawpa, Mississippi on Thursday, March 31, 2016. M/V Frederick E. Bouchard is the second of two 6,000hp Twin Screw Articulated (ATB) tugs constructed for Bouchard Transportation Co. Inc. (Bouchard Transportation) under a two-vessel contract awarded to VT Halter Marine in August 2014. Both M/V Frederick E. Bouchard and the M/V Morton S. Bouchard Jr. measures, 130 feet by 38 feet by 22 feet, are classed by ABS as A1 Ocean Towing, Dual Mode ATB, USCG Subchapter C, and is equipped with an Intercon Coupler System.

First Retrofit Plant for Drain Water Treatment

With two centrifuge skids for the treatment of drain water, GEA’s Business Unit Mechanical Separation, recently delivered the first retrofit plant. While drilling for oil, drain water collects on the platform in large volumes, which is passed into large tanks together with other waste water occurring. Hoover, First Reserve Announce Partnership

Hoover Container Solutions has entered into an agreement to partner with First Reserve, the largest global private equity firm exclusively focused on energy. MHI to Integrate Two Group Companies

Effective October 1, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) will integrate two of its group companies: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Corporation, which handles majority of domestic sales of air-conditioning and refrigeration (AC&R) products, and Kusakabe Co., Ltd., a company that deals in heating systems. The aim is to strengthen MHI's AC&R business by integrating the two firms' sales networks as a way to achieve enhanced marketing power. MOL to Test NOx-reducing SCR System

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. announced plans to install the Selective catalytic Reduction (SCR) system — jointly developed by MOL, Yanmar Co., Ltd. (President: Takehito Yamaoka), and Namura Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (President: Kensuke Namura) — on all three power generators of an MOL-operated oceangoing freighter for a demonstration test. This test demonstrates NOx denitration under the actual operation of freighter, to meet the Tier III NOx regulations set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The SCR system received a statement of fact from ship classification society Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) on July 1, verifying that it meets the NOx Tier III emission limit, and its superior denitration performance was confirmed.
