BP to supply LNG to Indonesia
BP has signed an agreement with Indonesian state-owned power utility Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) to supply 16 LNG cargoes annually from Tangguh project during the period 2020 to 2035, Reuters reported. The Indonesian oil and gas regulator SKKMigas said that the supply will be directed to different destinations so that PLN can use it for various power plants in Indonesia. The government is expected to get $5 billion in revenue from LNG sales during the period of the contracts, said SKKMigas chief Amien Sunaryadi in a statement. Indonesian LNG producers have faced an increase in uncommitted cargoes of the super-cooled fuel in recent years amid an expansion of cheap gas production globally and sluggish development of domestic LNG consumption.
Wärtsilä's Propulsion For First CNG Carrier
The world's first ever carrier vessel for compressed natural gas (CNG) is to be powered by an integrated Wärtsilä propulsion system, chosen for its energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. The vessel is being built at the Jiangsu Hantong shipyard in China ordered by CIMC ENRIC and designed by CIMC ORIC for end user Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), the Indonesian state owned energy company. The order with Wärtsilä was placed during the fourth quarter, 2014. The new vessel will feature a 9-cylinder Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel main engine operating primarily on gas. Wärtsilä will also supply the controlled pitch propeller and gearbox, all of which will be fully integrated so as to optimise the propulsion efficiency.
ABS to Class the World's First CNG Ship
ABS announced it has been chosen to class the world's first compressed natural gas (CNG) carrier ordered by Pelayaran Bahtera Adhiguna, a subsidiary of Indonesia's state-owned power company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PT PLN). The award for the precedent-setting ship, to be built at Qingdao Wuchuan Heavy Industry's shipyard in northern China, is the latest example of ABS' leadership in the gas ship sector, where the largest share of LNG ships is presently being built to its classification standards.

"The year has started rather well with order intake increasing by 13%. Our profitability was 10.1% and we are well on track to reach our targets for this year. Our net sales development was in line with our overall expectation of rather low Power Plants and Ship Power deliveries during the first quarter. Services' net sales grew by 12% with the increase coming from both parts and field services. During the first quarter, we signed a service agreement with US-based Prestige Cruise Holdings, as well as an operations & management agreement with Energética Suape II SA in Brazil for the largest power plant ever delivered by Wärtsilä. These contracts signify our commitment to deliver lifecycle value to our customers.
