SAACKE Water Boiler Ordered for FLNG
SAACKE Marine Systems received an initial order from Japan-based JGC Corporation in June 2014 to deliver a complete high temperature water boiler system – consisting of a fired hot water boiler with a dual fuel burner and two heat recovery units – for PETRONAS’ second floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility. "Japan is a key international shipbuilding market for SAACKE. That's why the order is a great success for our company, particularly in relation to the current market situation," said Peter Breidenich, Director Business Unit Marine Systems. Specifically, the SAACKE heat recovery units utilize the hot flue gas generated by gas turbines to produce hot water for the heating system.
DNV GL Approvals for SAACKE Scrubbers
Classification increases planning certainty for exhaust gas scrubber operators. The classification society DNV GL has certified the SAACKE exhaust gas scrubber based on soot separation using a dry process. This ensures that the innovative system, which was initially installed in 2013 on the tanker MT Levana, owned by the Carl Büttner shipping company, can now be operated without restriction. "Many scrubbers manufactured by market competitors currently operate with special permits. This means that the operator is exposed to the risk that the investment may not pay off.
