Marin’s New Simulator Bridges Engineering and Operations

On Tuesday, December 10, Peter Noble (President of SNAME) and Robert Hanraads (the Nautical Institute) jointly opened the new bridge simulator at the Marin offices in Houston. They were asked by Marin for this event to illustrate that this simulator was built as a bridge between engineering and operations. Watched by representatives of oil majors, engineering companies and offshore contractors, Robert Hanraads then safely performed the first offloading operation on the simulator. SNAME Announces Pre-Meeting Training Courses

The Society of Naval Architects and Engineers (SNAME) has scheduled six pre-meeting training courses to run in the days immediately prior to the SNAME 2013 Annual Meeting and Expo, November 6-8 at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue in Bellevue, Washington. Early registration discounts of up to $200 are available until October 14. ACMA President Scott McClure Elected a Fellow of SNAME

SNAME President Peter Noble presents ACMA President Scott McClure with his SNAME Fellow’s Certificate

Alan C. McClure Associates (ACMA), a naval architecture and engineering firm, announced that ACMA President Scott McClure was presented with his Certificate as a Fellow by the council of SNAME (Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers) during a function held in connection with the 2013 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas. Noble went on to note that Scott McClure has been a respected member of this community for many years, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Alan C. McClure, who was elected a Fellow of SNAME in 1987.

ABS Elects New Council

At the 150th Annual Meeting of the Members of ABS, three industry leaders were elected to the ABS Council. Following the Annual Meeting, the ABS Council met and elected industry leaders to both its Marine and Offshore Technical Committees. Individuals serving on the ABS Council and the Technical Committees help guide the class society in fulfilling its mission of promoting the security of life, property and the natural environment. “Classification represents the concept of self-regulation for the marine and offshore industry,” said ABS President and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki.

Peter Noble to Lead SNAME

The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers Elects Peter G. Noble as the Society’s Next President. On Friday November 18, 2011, Peter G. Noble was elected to be the next President of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) for a three-year term, the first year to be served as President Elect. For over 45 years, Mr. Noble has worked internationally as a Naval Architect and Ocean Engineer. His career has included positions in design and construction of ships and ocean systems, research and development, and in classification. currently serves as Chief Naval Architect at ConocoPhillips, the international energy company.

SNAME 2008 Annual Meeting & Expo Set for Houston

The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) will present the SNAME 2008 Annual Meeting October 15-17, 2008 in . This technical meeting will features new and expanded conference programming. In 2008, SNAME will celebrate its 115th anniversary. The theme of the SNAME 2008 Annual Meeting is ”Celebrating our Past, Engineering our Future”. A part of the conference programming will take a retrospective look at the range of changes and innovations that have taken place in the profession and industry over these past 115 years. The SNAME 2008 Annual Meeting educational programming will build on the strengths of SNAME’s technical integrity. In addition to these formal educational sessions the new 2008 Annual Meeting format will also include opportunities for peer-to-peer networking.
