Plans in Progress for New North Sea Wells

Esgian has published its Week 49 Rig Market Roundup highlighting new drilling activity in the North Sea and a new licensing deal in Morocco.Drilling Activity and DiscoveriesSerica Energy is continuing with plans for its four-well drilling campaign in the UK North Sea, scheduled for 2024 and early 2025. The campaign will be carried out using the semisubmersible COSLInnovator. All four wells are production wells. The first well in the campaign will be a sidetrack of an existing well (B1z) on the Bittern field.

Perdana to Supply Accommodation Work Barge to Petronas Carigali

Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas Carigali has awarded a work order to Perdana Nautika, a subsidiary of Perdana Petroleum, for the supply of an accommodation work barge.The contract started on March 20, 2023, and is for up to two 229 days from the start date.Perdana will provide one accommodation work barge with crews and equipment to perform a continuous service as per the scope of works agreed to assist PCSB’s project activities.Perdana said the contract was expected to contribute positively to the earnings and net assets of the group for the financial year ending 31 December 2023; however, it did not share information on the contract value.According to Perdana Petroleum's website, the company owns five work barges, each capable of accommodating a 300-strong crew.

Malaysia: Petra Energy Wins Work for Accommodation Workboat

Bursa Malaysia-listed Petra Energy has secured a contract with Petronas Carigali to provide accommodation workboat Petra Galaxy.The value of the contract is based on work orders issued by PCSB throughout the contract duration, Petra Energy said Friday.The duration of the contract is up to 255 days from the start date, effective from February 17, 2023, with an option to extend up to 60 days.According to Petra Energy's website information, the Petra Galaxy can accommodate 189 persons aboard.

Perdana Petroleum Nets Three AHTS Charters with Petronas Carigali

Malaysian offshore services company Perdana Petroleum has secured contracts for three Anchor Handling Tug and Supply vessels with Petronas Carigali.Perdana Nautika will provide the three AHTS vessels with crews and equipment to perform 24-hour services for assisting and/or servicing drilling rigs, offshore installation, derrick barges, towing, and anchor jobs.Two contracts are short-term, expected to start on March 22, with the duration of up to 15 days with extension options of up to 14 days.One contract is for up to 130 days with an extension option of up to 30 days. This contract started on February 28.Perdana Petroleum did not say which vessels exactly it would deploy.

Malaysia: Two Dead After Offshore Vessel Rams into Oil Platform

Two crew of a Malaysian offshore support vessel died on Tuesday after their ship hit a [platform] operated by state oil firm Petronas off the state of Sarawak on Borneo island.The Dayang Topaz rammed into the Baram B oil platform after its anchor cable broke in bad weather, Petronas and marine authorities said in separate statements.The ship was carrying 187 crew, 125 of whom jumped into the sea when the accident happened, about 7.7 nautical miles (14.3 km) offshore, marine authorities said.

Sapura Energy Bags Multiple Contracts

Malaysia’s oilfield services player Sapura Energy said it has has clinched contracts worth a total of MYR 1 billion ($242 million) for several new oil patch deals and one – the company’s first – offshore wind contract.The 10 new contracts are for its engineering and construction and drilling segments across Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and Australia, said a press release from the company.In addition, the company has been selected for a frame agreement with Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) for fixed offshore structure works, the company said in a statement today.Regarding the first offshore wind farm contract, the statement said, "Sapura Offshore Sdn Bhd (Sapura Offshore) has been awarded a contract by Yunneng Wind Power Co. IPC Begins Drilling Program in Malaysia

The oil and gas exploration and production company International Petroleum Corporation (IPC) has commenced drilling the first well in a planned multi-well drilling program on Block PM307, located offshore Peninsular Malaysia.Canada-based IPC is the operator of Block PM307 and holds a 75% working interest, with Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd holding the remaining 25% working interest.The PM307 drilling program is planned to consist of two infill landing pilot wells in the south-eastern and north-eastern areas of the Bertam field, followed by the Keruing exploration well and three Bertam field infill wells, IPC said in a press release.The first pilot well will test the upside potential in the northeastern A15 area…

GAC Bags Petronas Job

Eni Buys out Shell's Stake in Evans Shoal Gas Field

Italy's Eni announces the purchase of a 32.5% stake in the Evans Shoal gas field in the Timor Sea, Australia. The field is located offshore in the NT/P48 exploration permit in the north Bonaparte Basin, around 300km northwest of Darwin, where there is an existing LNG plant precinct. The undeveloped Evans Shoal field, discovered in 1998, holds expected gas in place of up to 7 trillion cubic feet. In late October 2011, Eni reached an agreement with Australian based company Santos Ltd to purchase its 40% equity share. The agreement involved an initial payment of US$250 million and a contingent future cash payment of up to US$100 million subject to a positive final investment decision (FID) for the development of Evans Shoal and the level of 2P reserves at FID.

UMW Wins Petronas Contract

UMW Offshore Drilling has received two contracts from Petronas Carigali worth US$34.81mil to provide services to its firm and optional wells. UMW Offshore Drilling is a wholly-owned subsidiary of UMW Malaysian Ventures (UMV), which in turn is a wholly-owned subsidiary of UMW Oil & Gas Corporation (UMW-OG). UMW-OG said that the contracts are to provide jack-up drilling rig services for both firm and optional wells. The Contract is for the provision of Drilling Rig Services for PCSB’s Drilling Programme, whereby UMW-OG Group will assign its UMW NAGA 3 for this contract. UMW NAGA 3 is a premium independent-leg cantilever jack-up drilling rig that has a drilling depth capability of 30,000 feet and has a rated operating water depth of 350 feet.

MISC Buys Back 50% Equity in Gumusut-Kakap for $445mln

Malaysian state-owned shipping company MISC has bought the remaining 50% stake in the Gumusut-Kakap Semi-Floating Production System Limited (GKL) for $445m from E&P Venture Solutions (EPV), part of Petronas Carigali. GKL, a wholly-owned subsidary of PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB), owns the Gumusut-Kakap semisubmersible floating production system (FPS), which is now on a 25 year charter with Sabah Shell Petroleum Co. - a unit of Royal Dutch Shell plc. - that commences October 2014. MISC told Bursa Malaysia on Wednesday that it had sold the stake in GKL, which left it with the remaining 50%, to strengthen the group’s financial position, which has since improved significantly.

Lundin Spuds off Malaysia

Lundin Petroleum's wholly owned subsidiary Lundin Malaysia BV  has commenced drilling of the Selada-1 exploration well in Block PM308A, offshore Malaysia. The well will target hydrocarbons in Miocene aged sands and is located 14 km to the south of the Bertam field operated by Lundin Malaysia. The Selada-1 exploration well will be drilled with the West Prospero jack-up rig to a total depth of approximately 1,700 metres below mean sea level. The drilling of the well is expected to take approximately 30 days. Lundin Malaysia is the operator of and holds a 75 percent working interest in PM308A with PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd holding a 25 percent working interest. Lundin Malaysia operates seven blocks in Malaysia, namely PM307, PM319, PM308A, PM308B, PM328, SB303 and SB307/308.

Technip Awards EPIC Offshore Malaysia Contract from Petronas

French oilfield services provider Technip SA  said it has been awarded an engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning contract by PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd or PCSB for D18 Project. The project covers the procurement and installation of two 8” water injection flexible pipes totalling 9.5 kilometers. The flexible pipes will connect three fixed jacket platforms which form the existing D18 infrastructure offshore Sarawak, Malaysia, at a water depth of 36 meters. This contract is part of the 5-year Framework Agreement signed with PETRONAS in late 2014 and is in line with Technip strategy to strengthen its partnerships with its clients to drive cost optimization.

EnQuest Eyes ExxonMobil Malaysia Assets

EnQuest PLC, through its wholly owned subsidiary EQ Petroleum Production Malaysia Ltd, agreed to acquire ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc.’s interest in the Seligi oil field and the PM8 PSC, located offshore Malaysia. The agreement is subject to the approval of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) and satisfaction of certain conditions precedent. This acquisition is another step in the execution of the Company’s strategy to extend its international footprint in Malaysia. Maersk Convincer gets 1 yr More

Petronas Carigali, the Exploration and Production subsidiary of the national oil company in Malaysia, has extended the contract for the jack-up rig Maersk Convincer by one year. Consequently, the rig will be on contract with Petronas until mid-November 2015. The estimated revenue potential from the one-year contract extension is USD 56 million. “We are very pleased to continue working with Petronas Carigali and see this extension as a further strengthening of our relationship. Together with Petronas Carigali, our highly competent rig crewhas delivered several challenging wells in a safe and efficient way,” says Claus V. Eni Drills Evans Shoal Appraisal Well in Offshore Australia

Eni announced the completion of the Evans Shoal North-1 appraisal well in the Evans Shoal gas field in the Timor Sea, Australia. The field is located offshore in the NT/P48 exploration permit in the north Bonaparte Basin, some 300 km northwest of Darwin. The Evans Shoal North 1 well, drilled in 111 meters water depth and to a target depth of 3,955 meters, is 12 km away from the Evans Shoal-2. Results indicate that these wells share common reservoir characteristics and are in hydraulic communication. During the well production test the gas flow reached the facility constraint of 30 MMscf/day. Eni estimates that the Evans Shoal gas field contains at least 8Tcf of raw gas in place. Eni remains committed to fast track development of the significant and known resources in this exploration area.

Barakah Offshore Gets Contract from Petronas

Barakah Offshore Petroleum’s subsidiary, PBJV Group Sdn Bhd (PBJV), has received a Letter of Award from Malaysian oil company Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, for the supply, refurbishment and maintenance of cleaning pig and associated services in Sabah and Sarawak, Malaysia. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Barakah said its wholly-owned subsidiary PBJV has received a letter of award from Petronas Carigali for the proposed job. "The total value of the contract will depend on the actual work orders to be issued by Petronas Carigali from time to time during the contract period. Barakah management estimates that the value of the contract to be about RM20 million to RM30 million, based on the current estimated work programme," said Barakah.

Keppel Delivers Jackup to UMW-OG

Keppel FELS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) has delivered UMW Naga 8, a KFELS B Class jackup rig, to Malaysia’s UMW Oil & Gas Corporation Berhad (UMW-OG). It was completed 32 days ahead of schedule, on budget and with a perfect safety record, the builder announced. This is the third KFELS B Class jackup rig that Keppel FELS has delivered to UMW-OG. The first jackup - UMW Naga 4 - was delivered in February 2013 and is currently servicing the contract of Petronas Carigali in Malaysia…

WFW Advises FPSO Joint Venture Debt Financing

International law firm Watson, Farley & Williams Asia Practice LLP (WFW) said it advised a joint venture involving M3nergy and PT Transamudra as sponsors on a $182 million term facility and $38.4 million guarantee facility. The funds will finance the floating production, storage and offloading facility named FPSO Ratu Nusantara. The FPSO Ratu Nusantara is scheduled for operation by Petronas Carigali in the Bukit Tua oil and gas field in the Ketapang block, offshore Madura Island, East Java, Indonesia. Partner Andrew Nimmo led the WFW Asia Practice team for this deal, assisted by senior associate Shawn Er. M3nergy is an emerging exploration and production company headquartered in Malaysia.

Carimin Wins Petronas Spot Charter

Carimin Petroleum Berhad one of the leading providers of offshore oil and gas (O&G) support services in Malaysia, has received an umbrella contract for provision of spot charter marine vessel services from Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB). The award, secured by the Group’s wholly-owned subsidiary Carimin Sdn Bhd, would commence immediately and be effective for two years until 2017. Carimin is required to provide two types of vessels, namely the Anchor Handling Tug/Supply (AHTS) vessel and the workboat. The contract has an option for a further one-year extension. The spot charter contract stipulates usage of the vessels by the client on demand within the contract period.
