Semco Maritime Expands in Houston
Rig upgrade and repair specialist Semco Maritime opens new Houston office on January 23, offering services for rig customers in Canada, Gulf of Mexico and Brazil. Project management and offshore engineering company Semco Maritime is now opening a new, larger office in Houston, where the Danish company has been present for several years with a sales office. Semco and PV Join Forces for Rig Upgrade
Semco Maritime and PetroVietnam Marine Shipyard join forces to establish high class rig upgrade player in South East Asia - Vung Tau Rig Services. The initiative shall tap into the growing market for rig upgrades in the region. Vietnam University Selects Intergraph SmartMarine Enterprise
PetroVietnam University (PVU) joined the Intergraph Education Grant Program. PVU is located in the offshore oil and gas hub of southern Vietnam, and was established to focus on the development of the country's oil and gas industry. The Vietnamese university recognized that it needs to equip its students with the necessary skills and knowledge so that they are ready to apply the tools that employers already use when they join the work force. PVU will provide its students with access to SmartMarine Enterprise solutions, including SmartMarine 3D, SmartPlant Review, SmartPlant Instrumentation, SmartPlant Electrical, SmartPlant P&ID and SmartSketch. Intergraph's ruled-based technology features unique automation capabilities, which was a compelling factor in PVU's decision.
ABS Elects New Council
At the 150th Annual Meeting of the Members of ABS, three industry leaders were elected to the ABS Council. Following the Annual Meeting, the ABS Council met and elected industry leaders to both its Marine and Offshore Technical Committees. Individuals serving on the ABS Council and the Technical Committees help guide the class society in fulfilling its mission of promoting the security of life, property and the natural environment. “Classification represents the concept of self-regulation for the marine and offshore industry,” said ABS President and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki.

LeTourneau, PetroVietnam Jack-up Contract
Rowan Companies, Inc. (NYSE: RDC) announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, LeTourneau Technologies, Inc. (LTI) has entered into a contract to provide the rig kit, license and certain technical consultancy assistance to Vietnam's PetroVietnam Marine Shipyard J/S Company (PetroVietnam Shipyard) for the construction of a newbuild LeTourneau Super 116E jack-up rig with 377 ft of leg. PetroVietnam Shipyard will construct the Super 116E jack-up for Vietnam Oil & Gas Group (PetroVietnam) in Vung Tau City, S. R. Vietnam. LTI's contract with PetroVietnam Shipyard, valued at approximately $40m, provides key rig kit equipment, designed and fabricated by LTI, including the leg components, elevating system, controls, spud can materials, cantilever skidding system and hold-down structures.
