Gibbs & Cox Wins $20 Million Contract from NSWC Philadelphia

U.S.-based naval architecture and marine engineering firm Gibbs & Cox, Inc. announced Tuesday that the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) awarded the company a $20 million prime contract.The NSWCPD provides the Navy's primary technical expertise for naval machinery research and development and in-service engineering, as well as machinery cybersecurity and lifecycle engineering.Gibbs & Cox said its contract will have a five-year operating period with a work scope including maintenance functions for the materials, structures, environmental and protection divisions.

Oceaneering International Inc., Chesapeake, Virginia (N64498-19-D-0001); Huntington Ingalls Inc., Newport News, Virginia (N64498-19-D-0002); and General Dynamics Electric Boat, Groton, Connecticut (N64498-19-D-0003), are being awarded cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite quantity multiple award contracts with firm-fixed-priced ordering provisions for Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE) and Level I engineering and technical services in the amounts of $827,674,072; $874,341,811; and $1,110,350,671, respectively. US Navy Ship Tests 100% Alternative Fuel

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division's (NSWC PHD) Self Defense Test Ship (SDTS), ex-Paul F. Foster went underway for final-phase testing of two alternative fuels, May 31. The SDTS traveled to San Diego, where it took on approximately 30,000 gallons of two types of alternative fuels. The ship then proceeded on a normal cruise, demonstrating that the alternative fuels could function as a drop-in replacement, requiring no changes to equipment or operating procedures.

Electric Boat Awarded Contract Modification

Electric Boat, Groton, Conn., is being awarded a $10,991,000 modification (P00038) to previously awarded contract (N00140-02-C-K009) for intermediate and depot level overhaul, repair and modernization services for Naval Submarine Support Facility New London, Groton, Conn. Work will be performed in Groton, Conn., and work is expected to be completed by August 2006. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured. The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Norfolk, Philadelphia Division, is the contracting activity.

Computer Sciences Corp., Falls Church, Va., is being awarded a $20,595,223 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for information technology services for the Naval Education and Training Command (NETC). This contract includes options that, if exercised, bring the total estimated value of the contract to $90,727,730. Work will be performed in Pensacola, Fla. (61 percent); Great Lakes, Ill. (11 percent); Norfolk, Va. (8 percent); Ingleside, Texas (1 percent); Meridian, Miss. (2 percent); Bremerton, Wash. (2 percent); Athens, Ga. (1 percent); Kings Bay, Ga. (1 percent); Groton, Conn. Rolls-Royce to Power Demonstrator for DD(X)

The new Rolls-Royce MT30 marine gas turbine has been selected to power the Integrated Power System (IPS) Engineering Development Model (EDM) for the US Navy's DD(X) multimission destroyer program. This order marks the company's entry into the U.S. Navy large gas turbine market. George G. Sharp Wins Contract

George G. Sharp Inc., Virginia Beach, Va., is being awarded a $12,170,065 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for operation and maintenance of the NAVSEA Inactive Ships On-Site Maintenance Office (NISMO) in Philadelphia Pa. This contract includes a one-year base period and four one-year options, which if exercised, bring the total estimated contract value to $52,277,547. Work will be performed in Philadelphia, Pa. (85 percent); Norfolk, Va. (7.5 percent); and Newport, R. I (7.5 percent), and work is expected to be completed by September 2006. This contract was competitively procured, with eight offers received. The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Norfolk Philadelphia Division is the contracting activity (N00140-06-C-0003).
