RH Taps Bannerman to Head Americas

Effective April 1, 2018, Radio Holland Group appointed Philip Bannerman as Regional Director Americas. Bannerman will be based at the RH regional head office in Houston and will be responsible for all offices and activities of Radio Holland in the Americas region, being USA, Canada, Curaçao, Panama, Brazil and Trinidad & Tobago. Philip Bannerman is a senior business development executive with 20 years in the international maritime, cruise and energy industries. He holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Glasgow University.

Shippers Must Reduce Costs, Boost Efficiency

So what’s keeping ship operators awake at night these days? Plenty, it seems. Sluggish recovery from a lingering worldwide recession, unsustainable debt loads, endemic overcapacity in most shipping trades, punishing freight rates, rising costs of fuel and regulatory compliance and a lingering sense that ships are not running as efficiently as they could. The last two topics – reducing fuel costs while complying with emission regulations and improving ship operating efficiency – will take center stage at SHIPPINGInsight 2014, scheduled for Sept. 30 – Oct. 2 in Stamford, Conn.

Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions (WTS) opens an office in Houston to service their increased offshore business. WTS is targeting increased business from the local offshore industry in the Gulf of Mexico and an expanded focus on Brazil, where deepwater offshore production is entering a new and dynamic phase. WTS Names Bannerman Vice President, Americas

Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Philip Bannerman as Vice President, Americas Region. Bannerman has been with the Wilh. Wilhelmsen Group since 1997 in a number of sales and marketing roles, most recently as Regional Sales Director of Wilhelmsen Ships Service in the Americas. Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions has been especially successful in the cruise sector in  delivering its Energy Management Technologies (EMT) concept and Bannerman says the company has the potential to increase its penetration in this sector.

Wilhelmsen Watching Cruise and Energy Markets

“While the shape of the shipping industry in North America is fairly stable, we are expecting more global demand for our services from our cruise and offshore customers,” comments Philip Bannerman, Sales Director for Wilhelmsen Ships Service in the Americas. Bannerman, who is based at the company’s Houston, Texas office, also believes that Mexico has more potential for development. Commenting on the overall health of the ships agency business in North America, he says, “The traditional shipping market is perhaps more ‘mature’ than in other parts of the world…
