Europort Captures Global Industry Mood

Two weeks before the doors open at Europort, Rotterdam, organizer Ahoy is finalizing arrangements for the event that promises to provide a benchmark for the “state of the global maritime and offshore industry” in late 2013. Alongside attendees at its Advanced Technology Conferences industry seminars and networking opportunities, over 1,000 exhibitors will be present at Europort 2013, which takes place November 5-8 at Ahoy Rotterdam. This year, companies from 39 countries will participate, with international organizations accounting for 45% of all exhibitors. “Technical innovators will populate all 10 of the Ahoy exhibition halls”, said Raymond Siliakus, Europort Exhibition Manager.

Iron Ore and Coal World Shipping Summit 2013

BIMCO: Assisting with EEDI Implications

At its recent 22nd meeting BIMCOs Marine Committee discussed the implications of the recently adopted amendments to MARPOL Annex VI which imposes an Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) to new ships built after 1st January 2013. BIMCO was very satisfied to see IMO adopting technical and operational measures to reduce GHG emissions from ships at the 62nd session of its Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) in July 2011. World Maritime Day Parallel Celebrations Held in Greece

The fourth "Parallel Event" to celebrate World Maritime Day formally and officially outside of the International Maritime Organization's London base was held in Greece on 19 and 20 September, hosted by the Government of the Hellenic Republic. On 19 September, Athens was the location for a seminar and panel discussion on the theme of IMO: 60 years in the service of shipping, in which leading figures from the maritime community took the opportunity to outline, from their perspective, their views on the past, present and future of IMO and the shipping industry.
