“Ottantacinque” Wins German Design Award

“Ottantacinque”, the concept of the latest-generation luxury mega yacht developed in partnership between Fincantieri Yachts and Pininfarina, introduced last year at the Monaco Yacht Show, won the prestigious annual award of the German Design Council in the category “Transportation” . “Ottantacinque” is a turnkey project, ready to be built, not just a simple concept, a merge of simplicity and functionality, innovation and style, elements which mark the assets of both companies and which are the pillars of the idea of Technology of Beauty. It is, in fact, the development of an Italian mega yacht, technologically advanced, with essential lines, comfortable and of absolute beauty: a meeting of excellences, able expressing creativity, luxury and Italian manufacture to the utmost.

Fincantieri, Pininfarina Introduced “Ottantacinque”

At the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show held this morning Fincantieri, leading western shipbuilding group, and Pininfarina, standard-bearer of the Italian design for 85 years, introduced the “Ottantacinque” concept of a latest-generation luxury mega yacht. “Ottantacinque” will be a cutting-edge mega yacht, 85 meters long, 2,460 gross tons, with 5 decks, each of which featuring technological solutions and exclusive interior fittings. with the side bulwark, which offer, together with an elevated sun bed, uninterrupted views on the sea. With the adjustable bottom, the water depth can be varied and even reduced to zero to create a large open platform spanning over 160 square meters.

Two Prestigious Awards for Fincantieri

In the presence of the Minister for Education, University, and Research Stefania Giannini, at the Auditorium at Villa Farnesina in Rome, Fincantieri, represented by its Chairman Vincenzo Petrone, today won one of the prizes in the Major Industrial Groups category during the National Award for Innovation ceremony. The prestigious prize was awarded to Fincantieri for promoting an innovation culture among youngsters and for having won the Andrea Pininfarina Award for Business Innovation, assigned by Confindustria. Now in its sixth year, the National Award for Innovation, better known as the “Prize of Prizes for Innovation”, is the most important award dedicated to “Made in Italy” innovations.

Tognum subsidiary MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH presents its Blue Vision New Generation automation system at the Salone Nautico Internazionale yacht show in Genoa. Belotti Handling Reinvents The Reach Stacker Machine

Belotti Handling S.p.A., which invented the Reach Stacker machine for container handling in 1969, offers today a totally new and innovative unit with automated and sophisticated systems. The new machine is the result of a collaboration between Belotti and Pininfarina, with design and the most advanced know how studied and developed by the University of Robotics in Genoa. The new machine is already provided by five international patents, which ensure originality and innovation in this particular range of rubber tired cranes. In fact, the unit is provided by a container self docking system (SDS) developed jointly with the University of Robotics in Genoa, which is well-regarded for the design of independent robots and marine working arms.

Derecktor Shipyards has launched a new high-speed 149.6 ft. catamaran passenger ferry for the Argentinean Company, Buquebus. Capable of operating speeds in excess of 52 knots, when fully loaded, this new vessel becomes the fastest passenger ferry of its class in the world. Derecktor engineers work with the ferry operator, helping evaluate which vessel design best suits its application, based on passenger capacity, speed, length of route, prevailing sea conditions and operating cost. Several arrangement and propulsion options allow maximum customization of the vessel for its intended use. Designed by Nigel Gee and Associates and styled by Pininfarina, this catamaran has an interior by Julio Cesar Ortega.
