Every five days the two feeder shipsBetsy S and Cartagena call at the container terminals Burchardkai, Altenwerder and/or Tollerort of the Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) or at the container terminal Hamburg of Eurogate. In St. Petersburg loading and unloading takes place at the Northern Wharf Russmarine Terminal and at the Petrolesport (PLP) Terminal. The port of St. Petersburg is the largest and most important Russian port at the Baltic Sea. The first departure from Hamburg took place with the feeder ship Smaragden on August 7, 2007. Konecranes Wins Crane Orders in Russia
In September and October 2007 Konecranes signed two contracts to supply container-handling cranes to the cargo terminal OJSC Petrolesport (PLP) in St. Petersburg, Russia. One of the orders comprises two ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and the other six RTG (rubber tyred gantry) cranes. The cranes will be delivered in mid-2008. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the orders. PLP is one of the largest stevedoring companies in the port of St. Petersburg. PLP belongs to Severstaltrans Group of companies. Cargo traffic is increasing in Russia, so PLP is increasing its terminal capacity in the St. Petersburg port. Konecranes has delivered cranes to PLP's terminal in the past, and the terminal has six Konecranes cranes in its fleet, one STS and five RTGs.
