Wärtsilä to Power Poland’s First LNG-fueled RoPax Vessels
The technology group Wärtsilä said it has been contracted by Remontowa shipyard in Poland to supply engines, fuel storage and supply systems for three new RoPax vessels, the first liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fueled RoPax vessels to be built for the Polish maritime sector. Neste to Supply Low-Sulfur Marine Fuel to Polferries
Neste and Polferries, a Polish company with a fleet of ferries operating on the Baltic Sea, have agreed on the delivery of low-sulfur marine fuel for the Nynäshamn-Gdansk route in 2017. "Polferries is an important new customer for us. This cooperation is enabled by the fact that our product's distribution services are expanding to Sweden. It's great that a Polish company in the ferry business has taken our premium quality, low-sulfur product into use," says Panu Kopra, Executive Vice President of Neste Oil Retail. Neste's low-sulfur marine fuels provide a good solution for reducing sulfur emissions and meeting increasingly strict regulations, in addition to which their use requires little or no investment or changes to existing vessels.
Polferries, Sup4Nav Ink Navdec system Deal
The Navdec system designed to improve safety of passengers and freight and aimed to support navigators in collision situations was tested on board the ferry m/f Wawel and m/f Mazovia in 2016. This invention will also be installed now on m/f Baltivia sailing from Świnoujście to Ystad. Polferries decided to equip all ferries with Navdec system to improve safety of passengers and freight. Accordingly, an agreement to this effect was signed between Polferries and Sup4Nav on 8th of December 2016 in Kołobrzeg. The navigational decision support system NAVDEC is the first navigational tool worldwide that performs information functions as well as those typical of decision support systems.

AMP Event Held in Sweden's Port of Ystad
Cavotec co-hosted a community & business outreach event at the Port of Ystad, including a seminar on benefits of Alernative Marine Power (AMP). The event was co-hosted by Cavotec, leading power and automation conglomerate ABB, the Port of Ystad, electrical systems specialist Processkontroll Elektriska, technical consultancy Grontmij, as well as Polferries and Unity Line. Cavotec AMP systems enable ships to close down their engines while docked and to connect to shore side electricity.
