DP World Wins Limassol Port Contract

DP World, one of the world's biggest port operators, and the Cypriot logistics and services company GAP Vassilopoulos Public have won two concessions to manage commercial activities at Limassol Port in Cyprus starting in January. P&O Maritime Cyprus, a unit of DP World, won a 15-year concession to exclusively provide port marine services at Limassol. DP World will own 75 per cent of each joint venture, with its Cypriot partner owning the rest. Three contracts on the privatisation of Limassol port services were signed today at the Presidential Palace, marking ‘a new page for Cyprus’ great port’ according to Minister of Transportation Marios Demetriades.

DP World Awarded Limassol Port Concessions

DP World has been awarded a 25-year concession by the Cypriot government for the exclusive rights to operate Limassol port, the Dubai-based ports operator said on Monday.   Separately, it said that P&O Maritime Cyprus, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DP World, had been awarded a 15-year concession for exclusive provision of a range of port marine services, including tugs and pilotage at the port.   DP World said the concessions were granted in partnership with Cypriot company GAP Vassilopoulos Public, with the Dubai-based company owning 75 percent of the venture.   The start of the concessions is envisaged for Jan. 29 next year, the statement added. Long and Successful Links: Sanmar Hosts Robert G Allan

Some 200 delegates from all around Turkey attended the Pilotage & Towage Services Technologies Congress in Izmir, an event supported by shipbuilder Sanmar, whose Projects Director Ali Gurun presented a paper about technical specification of modern harbor and terminal tug boats outside of Turkey and the effect of this on Turkish fleet. A keynote speaker at the Congress was Robert G Allan, Executive Chairman of Robert Allan Ltd, the designers of the majority of Sanmar's tug and workboat portfolio.

Three More Workboats for Jordan

Sanmar Shipyards delivered three more vessels to the Aqaba Port Marine Services Company (APMSCO) for the Sheikh Subah Al Ahmad Al Subah LNG terminal at Aqaba, Jordan. The overall contract comprises four 80-tonne bollard pull specially modified Terminal RAstar 2800 ASD tugs, two conventional twin screw Rascal 1500 line-handling tugs, all designed by Robert Allan Ltd of Canada, and a pilot boat designed by Camarc Ltd in the UK. This latest delivery comprises the second RAstar, Petra 3, a RAscal 1500 line-handling tug, Aldaem,and a 16.7m Pilot boat called Al Sanad.

Three More Workboats Built for Jordan

Three newbuild vessels have been delivered from Sanmar Shipyards to the Aqaba Port Marine Services Company (APMSCO) for the Sheikh Subah Al Ahmad Al Subah LNG terminal at Aqaba, Jordan, the shipbuilder announced. The overall contract comprises four 80-metric-ton bollard pull specially modified Terminal RAstar 2800 ASD tugs, two conventional twin screw Rascal 1500 line-handling tugs, all designed by Robert Allan Ltd. of Canada, and a pilot boat designed by Camarc Ltd in the U.K.

Trelleborg Gets Big Fender Order for Qatar New Port

After five years spent working closely with the construction company, Trelleborg has secured the $24.5 million (€19.5million) contract. The deal is approximately three times larger than any other marine fender contract previously placed and is due for delivery commencing at the end of 2012 and completion in early 2015. The $7.1billion (€5.8billion) value port project is currently the world's largest greenfield port-development project. Trelleborg will supply the New Port Project with 829 fender systems, including 557 super cone fenders for the port’s marine services terminal, container terminals (one is part of phase one, and two further terminals ready for future development), flour mill and main vehicle terminal.

Barwil, Denholm Form Partnership

Barwil, the Wilh.Wilhelmsen Group's global provider of Port & Marine Services has acquired a 40 percent stake in Denholm Shipping Services Ltd. (DSS), owned by the UK-based Denholm Group. The company will be rebranded as Denholm Barwil Limited and managed by the existing DSS management team led by Niall Denholm.
