VIDEO: Elon Musk Shows Off SpaceX Droneship

Elon Musk, a billionaire behind the SpaceX company, on Friday tweeted a video of a new Space X vessel named A Shortfall of Gravitas.SpaceX, or Space Exploration Technologies Corp, was founded by Musk back in 2002 to cut space transportation costs and eventually enable the colonization of Mars. It designs, manufactures and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft.According to available info, A Shortfall of Gravitas is an autonomous spaceport drone ship (ASDS) made from a converted deck barge, which is designed as a landing pad for SpaceX's rockets.

Russian oil and gas shipping giant Sovcomflot said Friday it had on March 15, together with Shell, "broke new ground," with the completion of the "first-ever Aframax tanker fuelling using LNG in the USA."Sovcomflot’s Gagarin Prospect tanker, on long-term charter to Shell, was en-route from Corpus Christi to Europe. It received 1,075 cubic metres of marine LNG from the Shell NA LNG LLC chartered Q-LNG 4000 outside the Port of Canaveral, Florida. New Vitol Terminal in Florida

The Vitol Group announced the opening of the Seaport Canaveral Terminal on the east coast of Florida. The terminal, built at a cost of around $130m, will deliver an independent supply of petroleum products to the state, create new jobs, and provide an important boost to the state's economy. It sits on 36 acres and is 60 miles from Orlando. The new Vitol terminal will inject an estimated $30m annually into the region's economy as well as $5m in additional yearly revenues for Port Canaveral. It will create as many as 300 new direct and in-direct jobs in transportation, shipping, maintenance and service, in addition to the permanent terminal team of 30.

Port Of Canaveral Adds New Directors

Continued growth and organizational restructuring has prompted the Canaveral Port Authority to add three new staff directors, including two newly created positions. Margi Starkey, the former Assistant Director of Finance, has been promoted to the new position of Director of Accounting. She will assist the Chief Financial Officer and oversee the installation and implementation of a new accounting system. Starkey has been employed with the Canaveral Port Authority for 10 years. Jerry Simon, the former Chief of Security, has been promoted to the new position of Director of Security in a reorganization of the Operations Department. Simon will run the Port's Security staff, which is responsible for badging and closed circuit television monitoring.

Gaming Boat Detained for Safety Violations

The Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment has issued a captain of the port order to the Sterling Casino Liner, Ambassador II, and detained the vessel in the Port of Canaveral until it is in compliance with Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) requirements. The Coast Guard boarded the Ambassador II when it docked recently and found it exceeded it's maximum capacity of 1,800 passengers. After further investigation of the casino liner, Coast Guard inspectors found of numerous SOLAS requirements, including: safety training requirements, watertight doors and certification for crew members.
