Sanmar Delivers Its Sixth ElectRA Tugboat to Norwegian Operator

Turkish shipbuilder Sanmar has delivered the sixth electric power tugboat from its ElectRA series to Norwegian operator Buksér og Berging.Named BB ELECTRA by its new owners, the tug will be based at the Port of Oslo.It boasts exclusive-to-Sanmar ElectRA 2200 SX design from Canadian naval architects Robert Allan, and represents the eighth tug that Sanmar has delivered to Buksér og Berging.With an overall length of 22.2 meters excluding fenders, molded breadth of 10.84 meters and least molded depth of 4.4 meters, BB ELECTRA has 1.718 kWh of battery power.

Zinus Awarded Contract to Supply Shore Power to Port of Oslo

Zinus has won a contract with PowerCon to supply the Port of Oslo with a shore power solution.The aim of the project is to make shore power available for all cruise ships that visit the Port of Oslo.Zinus’s CRU500 is an all-in-one cable management system that integrates with PowerCon’s shoreside electro distribution station and the cruise vessel. AAL Shipping Delivers Four Cranes to Port of Oslo

Shipping firm AAL Shipping has recently delivered four of the largest rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) in its history to the Port of Oslo, Norway. The mobile cranes, measuring 36 m in height and 28 m in length, were transported from Taicang in China to Oslo on a single sailing aboard the 31,000 deadweight multipurpose vessel (MPV), the AAL Pusan. Corvus to Power Oslo Port Zero-Emission Workboat

Battery manufacturer Corvus Energy will supply a 550kWh Energy Storage System (ESS) for a new all-electric skimmer workboat.The new vessel designed for efficient collection of trash at the water surface will operate in Norway’s Port of Oslo."The ESS will allow the boat to be in full working mode for four to five hours, and a full battery charge will take just 2 hours. In addition, the vessel has solar panels on board," said a press note from the company.The vessel will be a replacement for the current litter skimmer boat Pelikan which during the course of 30 years has picked up about 1,500 tons of trash from the Oslo harbour water surface.The 12-metre long aluminum vessel will be built by Grovfjord Mek. Grovfjord Wins Green Boat Order from Oslo Port

Norway's leading cargo and ferry port, the Port of Oslo has placed an order to build one of the world’s most environmental efficient working boats possible, with Grovfjord Ship Yard.The boat is especially designed for efficient collection of waste at the water surface. Yilport Oslo Breaks Container Record

Norway's largest container terminal Yilport Oslo handled a total of 238,000 containers (TEU) in 2018, an increase of 14% from the previous year.The Norwegian container port operator said that as the cargo from Europe are growing, Oslo has become the logistics hub in Norway."About 80% of the goods that come in containers, everything from bicycles, books to electronics, curbstones and foodstuffs is destined to Oslo and the neighboring areas. Norway's most modern container terminal is close to a large and growing market. Half of the Norwegian population is within a three hours drive from port of Oslo," it said."We want to commend the work that the container operator YILPort Oslo, together with the shipping companies, has closed over time. Stena Line Inaugurates Onshore Power Supply in Oslo

European ferry company Stena Line is the first ferry company to connect to the onshore power supply connection in the Port of Oslo.Stena Saga will now be connecting to the electricity grid during calls into port. This is an important step in Stena Line’s dedicated sustainability work, with one of the focus areas being to reduce emissions.Stena Line has been working with onshore power supply connections since 1989 and is a pioneer within this area. With Stena Saga, 14 of Stena Lines 38 vessels can now connect to green electricity when in port.“The completion of yet another onshore power supply connection in the Port of Oslo is an important milestone in our efforts to reduce emissions and we are now closing in on our target of connecting 25 % of our terminals in 2020.

Yilport Oslo Breaks Cargo Record

Norwegian container operator Yilport Oslo set an all time high record in a single month with 21 363 TEUS in October 2018, registering an increase of 28 % compared to October last year.Maiken Solemdal, Commercial Manager at Yilport Oslo explained the growth as a result of the terminal's Short Sea focus:“In the first 10 months we have a growth of 10,4 % compared to 2017. Project to Eliminate Emissions at Norway Ports

Shore power and charging infrastructure could reduce CO2 emissions by as much as 12.5 million tonnes at ports in Norway every year – this is one of the main conclusions of a report compiled by a pool of experts from ABB, DNV GL, the Port of Oslo, and Cavotec, working under the auspices of ReCharge, an initiative that seeks to pave the way for zero emission ports in the Scandinavian country. The ReCharge project has assessed where emissions in Norwegian ports are generated, where there is greatest potential for reductions, and what kind of charging and shore power infrastructure needs to be developed to mitigate emissions. It has identified 64 vessels with an operational profile that would allow battery propulsion.

Yilport Assumes Full Control of Gävle CT

Yilport Holding acquired 100% shares of Gävle Container Terminal (GCT) and Baltic Sea Gateway (BSG). The signing ceremony took place in Gävle, Sweden on 2 May 2016. The 30+10 year concession signed with Gävle Municipality awards Yilport Holding, a Yildirim Group subsidiary, the rights to operate container, bulk, general cargo, rail and CFS services in Port of Gävle terminals. The only Turkish company to be listed among international port operators, Yilport Holding, a Yildirim Group subsidiary, continues its global expansion. Yilport already owns 80% shares of Gävle Container Terminal since 2014, and Gävle Municipality awarded Yilport the remaining 20% shares in the new deal signed on 2 May 2016.

The Scandinavian arm of the world’s third largest container shipping company CMA CGM has signed an agency, husbandry and NOx reporting agreement with GAC Norway for its ships calling at the port of Oslo. The CMA CGM Group has a fleet of 470 vessels serving 400 of the world's 521 commercial ports. In 2015, it transported an estimated volume of 13 million TEUs and vessels from its fleet make 52 calls per annum to Oslo to load/discharge a wide range of goods carried in containers from around the world. Its weekly service links the Scandinavian ports of Oslo, Moss, Brevik and Gothenburg with the CMA CGM hub in Rotterdam, and beyond to its global network.

Hapag-Lloyd Expands Feeder Network in Scandinavia

From the beginning of June, Hapag-Lloyd will be integrating the Port of Oslo into its Baltic Express Service (BAX). The BAX will then link a total of six ports in Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, Norway, Poland and Russia with the hubs in Hamburg and Bremerhaven, from where it will be connected to Hapag-Lloyd’s global service network. The first ship is scheduled to depart from Oslo on June 4. The new port rotation of the BAX service is as follows: Hamburg – Bremerhaven – Oslo – Muuga/Tallinn – Saint Petersburg – Kotka – Klaipėda – Gdynia – Hamburg.

Port of Oslo VTC Service Threatened by Strike

A threatened strike by municipal/communal services could affect the Norwegian Port of Oslo's Vessel Traffic Control for maritime traffic entering/leaving the port starting from 27 May, 2014. If the strike goes ahead, it will involve seven of the port’s Traffic Control staff. However, it is expected that the remaining staff will maintain normal, or near normal operations, from 27 to 31 May. In the event that the strike continues beyond the end of the month, all vessel traffic at Oslo - including ferries and charter boats – will come to a halt. Source: GAC Norway

Cargotec Delivers Its First Zero Emission(TM) RTGs to Asia

Cargotec has completed the delivery of six Kalmar E-One2 rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes featuring Zero Emission(TM) technology to Vietnam's terminal operator Saigon Newport (SNP) and its subsidiaries, Tan Cang Logistics Joint Stock Company (TCL) and Tan Cang Warehousing Joint Stock Company (TCW). The machines boast major environmental and economical advantages, such as no local emissions, low operating costs and reduced maintenance. All of the cranes operate at Cat Lai Terminal in Ho Chi Minh City.

Saab TransponderTech Wins Order For AIS

Saab TransponderTech, Solna Sweden has been awarded a contract for supplying AIS transponders to Port of Oslo. The seven ship born systems meet the international standard ITU 1371-1 adopted by IMO and will be installed onboard passenger vessels in traffic in the Port area. The systems comprise the R3 AIS transponder and Minimal Keyboard and Display (MKD). The system will give the vessels the possibility to keep track of the other commuter ferries in the fjord. The system will also allow for an efficient and secure way for the masters to report the number of passengers on board to the Port Authority.
