APL Adds Port Calls to CP1 Service

APL, one of the world’s leading ocean carriers,  announced that its China Philippines Express 1 (CP1) service will be making additional calls at the Chinese port of Xiamen and Batangas in the Philippines. This development extends the market coverage of the shortsea service that links South China and the Philippines. Each week, the enhanced CP1 service will directly call the Batangas port, facilitating shipments into and out of the economically-thriving Calabarzon region in the Philippines. Besides expecting an improved connectivity between China and the Philippines, shippers may leverage APL’s extensive service network for farther market connectivity via the relay hubs of Hong Kong and Shekou where the CP1 service also calls.

Ocean Alliance Launches Day Two Product

The Ocean Alliance has launched its new Day Two Product with an estimated 3.6 million TEU carrying capacity provided by approximately 340 containerships deployed on 41 services. The new offering will commence in April 2018. Alliance partners CMA CGM, COSCO, Evergreen and OOCL will offer 20 Transpacific services, six Asia-Europe services, four Asia-Mediterranean services, four Transatlantic services, five Asia-Middle East services and two Asia-Red Sea services. “Ocean Alliance has been a fantastic success from a customer perspective since its launch last spring and we are very enthusiastic to announce our Day Two Product,” said Olivier Nivoix, Senior Vice President Ocean Alliance Lines.

CMA CGM Reorganises Its Asia - West Africa Services

In line with the West Africa market trend, CMA CGM Group adapts its service offering while continuing to improve its service reliability and cost efficiency. Withdrawal of WAX 2 service. WAX | Operated by CMA CGM with 12 vessels of 4,350 TEU, will discontinue South Africa and Nigeria calls. Instead, the service will add Abidjan Westbound to its current export call with an improved transit time up to 5 days. Abidjan from Shanghai will be reached in 37 days. ASAF | The sole product available on the market to West Africa South Range is operated with 12 vessels up to 9,350 TEU.

CMA CGM Upgrades Ethiopian Services

CMA CGM develops its Ethiopian intermodal service by linking Djibouti to 6 inland key destinations (Addis Ababa, Mekele, Nefas Meewcha, Gibe, Shashemene and Jinga). It also adds 2 strategic calls in Djibouti, the Ethiopian market gateway, on its MEX1 and REX2 services. CMA CGM announced its Ethiopian services upgrade thanks to new strategic calls added on its Mediterranean Express (MEX) and Red Sea Express (REX) services, as well as the development of its intermodal offer between Djibouti and Ethiopia. CMA CGM links Ethiopia to Djibouti and strengthens inland transportation solutions: A large majority of cargo destined for the landlocked Ethiopian market transits through the Djibouti Dolareh Container Terminal.

G6 Announces Asia-North America Winter Program

Members of the G6 Alliance today announced the Winter Program for Asia – North America services in response to traditional seasonal changes in market demand. The first sailing of the combined service will start with the Week 44 sailing (ETA Xiamen October 29, 2015). The G6 Alliance will temporarily suspend the Central China 2 (CC2) service between Asia and the North America West Coast during the winter period starting from Week 44. The last sailing for CC2 will be on Week 43 E/B (ETA Ningbo October 18, 2015) and Week 45 W/B (ETA Long Beach November 5, 2015). The G6 Alliance continues to offer a variety of services between Asia and North America covering all major port pairs with weekly sailings, and to make service adjustments where necessary.

G6 Alliance Enhances Asia/North America Service

In response to market demand, members of the G6 Alliance today announced service enhancements in the Asia – North America (Pacific Southwest) trade. The CC2 service will be upgraded to include a permanent Pusan call. Transit times from other origins will remain unchanged. The G6 Alliance offers a variety of services between Asia and Europe, Asia and North America as well as on the Transatlantic covering all major port pairs with weekly sailings. The G6 Alliance members are: APL, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Nippon Yusen Kaisha and Orient Overseas Container Line. The SC1 service will be upgraded to include an additional eastbound Kaohsiung call.

Two New Ships Enter the CMA CGM Fleet

Containerships CMA CGM Loire and CMA CGM Ural were delivered to the CMA CGM Group on February 5 and entered the fleet on February 13 and 14, respectively, marking the arrival of the fifth and sixth vessels of the 9,400 TEUs to 10,900 TEUs series to be delivered through the third quarter of 2016. The CMA CGM Danube, CMA CGM Elbe, CMA CGM Litani and CMA CGM Tigris are the first of this 28 vessel series named after rivers around the world, that started to be delivered on June, 30 2014.

G6 Alliance Announces Asia – US East Coast Winter Program

Combined service will replace NYE and SCE temporarily / Due to seasonal changes in market demand. Members of the G6 Alliance have announced the Winter Program for Asia – U.S. East Coast sailings in response to seasonal changes in market demand. The first sailing of the combined service will start with Hyundai Glory 064E (ETA Xiamen 30 October 2014). The G6 Alliance continues to offer a variety of services between Asia and North America East Coast covering all major port pairs with weekly sailings, and to make service adjustments where necessary.

Fujian, China, Ports Unfazed by Container Trade Dip

Port of Xiamen, in Fujian (located opposite Taiwan) lifted 2.06 million TEU from January to April this year, an increase of 11.82 per cent year on year, Xinhua reports. Overall cargo tonnage of the port grew 5.86 per cent to 52.33 million tonnes. In April, Xiamen handled 573,200 TEU, up 18.06 per cent year on year. The overall monthly tonnage increased 16.77 per cent to 15.48 million tonnes. During the first four months, Fujian's main seaport handled a total of 3.11 million TEU of containers, up 10 per cent. Cargo tonnage increased 16.7 per cent to 15.48 million tonnes. In the same period, another major port of Fujian, Fuzhou port, handled 538,400 TEU, up five per cent. Its throughput tonnage increased 13.2 per cent to 33.02 million tonnes.
