Stolt Upgrades VSAT Connectivity Across Tanker Fleet

Stolt Tankers has chosen Marlink to upgrade its entire fleet of deep sea and regional tankers to the Sealink Global Ku-band VSAT service. The contract, signed in April 2013, covers the provision of Sealink to 90 tankers, resulting in significant bandwidth enhancements across the fleet, meeting Stolt’s changing connectivity requirements for operational and crew communication. MCP Wins NCL Cellular Communications Contract

Maritime Communications Partner (MCP), the leading onboard communications partner to cruise and ferry vessels, has strengthened its foothold in the US cruise market through a major telecommunications contract with Norwegian Cruise Line. The contract includes the entire fleet and two large newbuilds. MCP’s contract with Norwegian Cruise Line covers cellular telephony and prepaid services to passengers and crew in the existing fleet and the two yet-to-be launched cruise ships.  All the ships will be equipped with a state-of-the-art network enabling future migration to 3G and LTE technologies.

TSS Launches New Suite of Prepaid Services

Telenor Satellite Services (TSS) has launched a new suite of prepaid services for its communications services via the Inmarsat satellite system. Telenor's new suite of services introduces innovate capabilities making crew communications easy and affordable, including: mobile-to-fixed and fixed-to-mobile calling services, multiple methods for convenient card recharging and other features giving Telenor flexibility to meet a wide variety of customer prepaid calling needs. Crew calling is available through Telenor for as low as 99 cents per minute from October 4, 2002, until March 31, 2003. Telenor also offers free crew calling phones as part of its new crew calling program.
