Flex LNG Bags 3-year Charter for Flex Constellation LNG Carrier

Flex LNG has secured a charter deal with a minimum firm period of three years on a prompt basis for the LNG carrier Flex Constellation, with an unnamed client.Flex LNG said the charter was a leading trading house which has the option to extend the period by up to three more years.Flex Constellation is a 173,400 cbm LNG Carrier delivered from DSME to Flex LNG in 2019. The LNG carrier is fitted with MEGI propulsion system and Partial Reliqufaction System (PRS).Øystein M Kalleklev, Chief Executive Officer of Flex LNG Management AS, said: "We are pleased to announce another attractive time charter with a leading LNG player for one of our existing ships."This is very much in line with our communicated strategy of securing attractive term charters to improve our earnings visibility.

DSME Wins LNG Carrier Order from Maran Gas

South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has received a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier order from Maran Gas Maritime, part of Angelicoussis Shipping Group. DSME said that the order from the Greek shipping company is for a 174,000 cbm LNG carrier.The shipbuilder would construct the unit at its Geoje Okpo Shipyard. The new vessel is scheduled for delivery by the fourth quarter of 2021.The vessel will be equipped with DSMEs advanced partial re-liquefaction system (A-PRS).Maran Gas has ordered six out of the seven LNG carriers DSME booked this year.DSME's 2019 order-book currently stands at around USD 3 billion and includes 17 vessels, seven of which are LNG carriers.

DSME Wins LNG Ship Order from Maran Gas

DSME Wins LNG carrier Order

South Korea’s shipbuilding giant Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has received an order liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier.The vessel capable of transporting 174,000 cubic meters of LNG will be built at Geoje Okpo shipyard for an undisclosed shipowner from Oceania, said the shipbuilder.DSME didn't provide the value of the contract. Equinor Extends Prosafe Deal

Semi-submersible firm Prosafe said that it has been offered a month extension for the Safe Boreas charter contract at the Mariner project by operator Equinor."Equinor UK Limited (formerly Statoil (UK) Limited) has exercised the first of six one-month options to extend the charter of the Safe Boreas. The total value of the option is USD 6 million," said a press statement.In early August 2017, the Safe Boreas commenced a 13 month firm operational period at Mariner in the UK sector of the North Sea. The firm operational period will now continue through to early October 2018.Prosafe is a leading owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation vessels.

Aker BP Hires Prosafe Vessel

Prosafe has signed a contract with Aker BP ASA for the Safe Scandinavia to provide accommodation support at the Ula platform in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The firm duration of the contract commencing mid-August 2018 is seven months with eight one-month options. Total value of the contract excluding the option periods is approximately USD 25.5 million. The option periods, if exercised, have a total value of approximately USD 36.7 million. The contract will ensure employment of the Safe Scandinavia soon after expiry of her previous contract that concluded end-June 2018. Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Delivers New High-tech LNG Carrier

South Korean shipbuilding giant Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has delivered a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier with a full re-liquefaction system (FRS) to an unidentified owner, said a report in Yonhap.Most of the LNG ship orders the company has received so far this year include the FRS system. "It is a major achievement for the world’s second-largest shipbuilder by orders as the company now has the technology to build LNG ships with either the partial re-liquefaction system (PRS) or the FRS system," the report quoted the company as saying.It said that nine LNG carriers ordered at DSME this year will be equipped with a complete re-liquefaction system.Daewoo says it delivered the world’s first LNG carrier with a partial re-liquefaction system in 2016…

Gate Terminal Expanded for Handling Small LNG Vessels

Gate terminal and its shareholders Gasunie and Vopak are proud to announce that the LNG terminal at the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam has been expanded to include a third berth and special infrastructure for the loading of small LNG vessels. In conjunction with LNG bunker vessels, the new berth will in future also make it easier for ocean-going vessels to fill up with LNG in Rotterdam. As with other kinds of maritime fuel LNG can be pumped on board large ocean-going vessels using bunker vessels. These can now be loaded at Gate terminal which receives LNG from large LNG tankers arriving from several global origins. The use of LNG as a maritime fuel is being encouraged by the European Union, the Dutch government and the Port of Rotterdam because of its more environmentally-friendly properties.

Technip Secures new subsea deal from trio

Technip was awarded a new framework agreement by Statoil, Exxon Mobil and Gassco for diving, subsea intervention and repair contingency services. Under the terms of this framework agreement, a replacement of an existing frame agreement held for eight years, Technip will provide these services for the next four years. This contract, effective from December 1st 2014, also includes an option for additional periods up to seven years. - The services comprise diving and remote operations using the Group’s dedicated diving support vessels (DSVs) and/or construction vessels. - The area of operation includes continental areas from the Barents Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, the Baltic Sea and North Atlantic Ocean as well as Newfoundland, Canada.

Navis Builds on Singapore Success

Navis Engineering has completed work on its latest project involving fast-growing Singaporean offshore specialist Miclyn Express Offshore (MEO), following the commissioning of the DP2 system on board the 70m ROV and diving support vessel Resolution. After successful sea trials and a christening ceremony at the Keppel Bay Marina, Singapore, the vessel has departed for Indonesia, on a three-year charter to Seascape Surveys. For Navis, the project follows quickly after its supply of the DP2 system onboard MEO Ranger, a 65m length platform supply vessel now operating in the Persian Gulf.

Prosafe Orders Two Offshore Accommodation Vessels

Prosafe has agreed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with COSCO (Qidong) Offshore Co. Ltd. for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of two semi-submersible accommodation vessels, with options for four further units. The pair will be the most advanced and flexible units for worldwide operations excluding Norway, and will be ready for operations in 2016. They will be of Gusto MSC’s Ocean 500 design and will be equipped with 500 beds, DP3 station keeping systems, 10-point chain mooring and 300 tonne cranes. The LoI covers two potential contracts, each in excess of USD 200 million.

Polish Register of Shipping announces that the long-serving President of the Board of the classification society Dr. Jan Jankowski, and Board Member Jerzy Wyrzykowski are stepping down from their posts in June in 2013. They had been at helm of the Society for 16 years. Under their leadership PRS developed and instigated proceedings for passing a law in Polish Parliament to recognize Polish Register of Shipping as a non for profit organization, free of share holders commercial pressures, allotting the society’s income to development of the Society and R&D work for enhancing safety.

ABB Power2 Completes Type Testing

ABB Turbocharging recently celebrated a milestone in its two stage turbocharging systems. Having equipped the first gas engine to enter commercial service with “Power2” two stage turbocharging equipment, ABB Turbocharging has now carried out Type Testing on a Power2 system in the presence of the Classification Societies on a hot gas test rig at its Technical Center in Baden, Switzerland. In this way, Power2 has passed a major milestone on its way to gaining Type Approval for use on 4-stroke, medium speed marine diesel engines. The Type Test of Power2 took place in early March 2011.

Ingalls Wins Naval Contract

Ingalls Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. (NYSE:HII), was awarded a construction contract for the Arleigh Burke-class (DDG 51) destroyer DDG 113. As this award represents Phase I of a competitive two-phased acquisition approach to procure FY11/FY12 DDG 51s, with Phase II including the potential award of up to three additional ships, the award amount is considered source selection-sensitive information. DDG 113 will be the 29th Arleigh Burke-class destroyer built by Ingalls.

ClassNK to IACS: “Bring Classification into the 21st Century”

ClassNK Chairman and President Noboru Ueda called upon the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) to play an expanded role in the future as he stepped down from his position as Chairman of the IACS Council. “Even as IACS must continue to maintain the highest quality standards,” said Mr. Mr. Ueda’s remarks were made at the conclusion of the IACS Council’s 63rd meeting which was held in Kyoto from the 21st to 23rd of June. With his term as Chairman of the IACS Council ending on July 1st, Mr. Ueda oversaw a year that brought a number of changes to the august organization, including the addition of the Polish Register of Shipping (PRS) and the Croatian Register of Shipping (CRS) to IACS.

World's Longest Offshore LNG Pipe – Divers Ready

The gigantic Nord Stream pipe, with two same-sized parallel ones, runs from Vyborg in Russia through the Gulf of Finland and the Baltic Sea to Lumina in Germany. It will be able to secure supplies of electricity and heat to 26 million households in Europe for 50 years to come. The 1,224 kilometre-long pipe (approximately 760 miles) is currently located on the bottom in three lengths. Norwegian subsea expertise will be called upon to weld together the lengths of pipe on the seabed. The gas pipes’ diameters are 48 inches, thus making it larger than any other one placed on the seabed to date.

Baltic Sea Second Offshore Pipeline Completed by Nord Stream

The pipeline’s three sections were successfully welded together underwater and will be joined to Russian and German landfalls in August. The underwater welding operations were remotely controlled from the world’s largest dive support vessel, the 160 metre long Skandi Arctic. Highly specialized divers oversaw the complex operations. Nord Stream has successfully completed the second of the two underwater tie-ins of its second gas pipeline through the Baltic Sea. The 1,224-kilometre offshore pipeline is now complete and will be de-watered and dried before being joined to the onshore landfall sections in Russia and Germany in August. This second line is on schedule to become operational as part of the twin pipeline system in the last quarter of this year.

Subsea 7 Completes Girassol Repair

Subsea 7 reports it has completed the Girassol Pipeline Repair Project for Total E&P Angola. The project was an entirely diverless pipeline repair in 1350m water depth and was based on a technical design competition issued by Total which resulted in Subsea 7 being awarded the contract for the design, manufacture, testing and operation of a new deepwater pipeline repair system (PRS). The system would then be used on the repair of a damaged 12-in. water injection pipeline in the Girassol field, offshore north-west Angola.
