Classification society DNV has entered into a joint development project (JDP) with Singapore-based shipping company SDTR Marine to cooperate on a carbon capture and storage (CCS) feasibility study for the latter’s 85,000 dwt Kamsarmax bulk carrier.As part of the JDP, DNV and SDTR Marine will collaborate on a techno-economic analysis of CCS implementation aboard the bulk carriers. Utilizing DNV's FuelPath, the study aims to evaluate the economic viability of different fuel and technology approaches under various fuel and CO2 price scenarios.

Oslo-headquartered dry bulk shipping company Golden Ocean Group announced its board has appointed Lars-Christian Svensen as CEO, effective January 1, 2024.Svensen had been serving as interim CEO following the resignation of the company's previous CEO, Ulrik Andersen, in June 2023.Svensen joined Golden Ocean as chief commercial officer in December 2020 and was previously senior vice president in Norway and president of U.S. trading activities in Seattle for Western Bulk. Before that, he was a downstream analyst for Petredec and a tanker broker for Cmarine Services PTE Ltd. in Singapore.

AMSA Bans Liberian-Flagged Vessel Over Wage Theft

First Car Carrier Bunkered with LNG in Singapore

Van Oord announced on Tuesday it has christened its new trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Vox Apolonia, built by Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd shipyard in Singapore.The newbuild is the second in a series of three new dual-fuel liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueled TSHDs being built for the Dutch dredging and marine services contractor.The 10,500-cubic-meter-capacity Vox Apolonia and its sister vessels Vox Ariane and Vox Alexia, fall into the mid-class section of Van Oord’s TSHD fleet. measuring 137.5 meters long and 27.6 meters across the beam.

China Classification Society (CCS) announced it has recently granted approval in principle (AIP) to a 85,000 DWT ammonia-fueled bulk carrier design it codeveloped with Singapore’s SDTR Marine Pte Ltd.
