Iran, Qatar Shipping Route Operational

Iran and Qatar have launched a new direct shipping route, connecting the southern Iranian port city of Bushehr to Qatar's Doha.The cargo and passenger shipping line is using a roro/passenger ship called Grand Ferry.Bushehr Maritime Director General Siavash Arjmandzadeh stated: "The first Iran-Qatar permanent shipping line was inaugurated this week and the ship is scheduled to depart Bushehr once a week for Doha, Qatar. UAE Eases Qatar Shipping Ban

The United Arab Emirates has eased a ban on the shipping of goods between it and Qatar enforced under a political and economic boycott of Doha, according to port circulars and an industry source.The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Bahrain severed diplomatic, trade and transport ties with Qatar in June 2017 over allegations it supports terrorism, a charge Doha denies.An Abu Dhabi Ports circular dated Feb. 12 cancelled previous directives that banned cargoes of Qatar origin from UAE waters and ports and those of UAE origin from Qatar.It maintained a ban on vessels flying the Qatar flag…

Milaha Ups Stake in Nakilat

MSC to Start Oman-Qatar Shipping Service

Swiss-based MSC will offer a new shipping service to Qatar from Oman, the world’s No.2 container shipping line said on Monday, a week after Gulf states imposed port and trade restrictions on Doha. Milaha CEO Al-Hetmi to Step Down

Milaha president and CEO, Khalifa Ali Al-Hetmi, will retire in September, the Qatar-based marine transport and logistics conglomerate announced. Having joined Milaha 31 years ago, Al-Hetmi has been at the helm of Milaha for the past seven years. During his tenure as CEO, he oversaw the strategic acquisition of Qatar Shipping and Halul Offshore Services in 2010, and was responsible for the subsequent transformation of the newly created group and the launch of the Milaha brand in 2011.

Qatar Navigation Absorbs Balance of SocGen Gasships

Qatar Navigation (Milaha) said on Thursday its unit Qatar Shipping Company had acquired the remaining 60 percent interest in two firms which own Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers from France's Societe Generale. The two entities, Milaha Ras Laffan and Milaha Qatar, are chartered to RasGas under a 25-year time charter contract, with 14 years and 16 years remaining under the time charter agreement respectively, according to a bourse filing. Qatar Shipping Company owned the other 40 percent in each of the two companies prior to the transaction, for which the deal value was not disclosed. Reporting by Nadia Saleem

Qatar Shipping Secures Ship Financing

Proceeds from the facility will be utilized by Qatar Shipping to fund the ongoing construction of 19 harbor assistance vessels. The vessels will be deployed in Mesaieed Port on a 20-year, QR1.8bn contract, signed with Qatar Petroleum in 2011. The financing was arranged by Milaha Capital, another wholly-owned Milaha subsidiary, which provides corporate finance advisory services to the group as part of its mandate. Qatar Navigation Reports Q1 Results

Qatar Navigation Q.S.C. announced today financial results for the three months ended March 31, 2011. • Operating revenues of QR 533 million vs. same period in 2010 of QR 431 million. This represents a 24% increase year over year. • Operating Profit of QR 157 million vs. same period in 2010 of QR 118 million. This represents a 33% increase year over year. • Net Profit of QR 262 million and QR 2.28 earnings per share, vs. same period in 2010 of QR 771 million and QR 6.73 per share.

MOL, Gulf LPG Transport Start VLGC Pool

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) announced on Jan. 27, the formation of a very large gas carrier (VLGC) pool called LPG Global Transport, along with Gulf LPG Transport Company W.L.L. of Qatar (Gulf LPG). The pool will begin operations immediately. Gulf LPG Transport Company W.L.L. is a limited liability joint venture company established by Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat) and Qatar Shipping Company. MOL and Gulf LPG have jointly incorporated LPG Global Transport Management Inc. to manage the pool’s business operations.

Owners Alerted to Possible Rises in S&P Disputes & P&I Premiums

The 'A' rated, 65 million GT North of England P&I Club has alerted shipowners in the Middle East and India yesterday (20 September 2006) to the possibility of more sale and purchase disputes and a further increase in their P&I premiums. The warnings were given at a seminar attended by around 80 representatives of Middle-Eastern and Indian shipowners at the Dubai Beach Resort in the UAE, which North of England organised in conjunction with sale and purchase experts from international shipping law firms Ince & Co and Mills & Co. LNG Vessel Named Maersk Qatar

The naming ceremony of the ship owned by a consortium of A.P. Moller and Qatar Shipping was held at Samsung Shipyard in South Korea recently. Maersk Qatar has an LNG cargo carrying capacity of 145,000m3 and will enter RasGas service by the month-end. Maersk Ras Laffan, the first A.P. Moller and Q-Ship vessel was delivered to RasGas in 2004. Maersk Qatar is the final ship in the series to be delivered to RasGas. Qatar Shipping Takes Delivery of Tanker

The Qatar Shipping Co recently took delivery of MT Umlma, the fourth newly built tanker from the series of six 105,000 deadweight ton vessels being constructed by South Korea's Hyundai Shipyard. The tanker was received by Ranjit Singh, Technical Manager, Q-Ship, on behalf of his company at Hyundai's shipyard in Busan. It is reported that they will carry petroleum. New Crude Carrier Delivered

The Ras Laffan, a new Aframax double-hull crude carrier, was delivered to QM Tanker Co., LLC, a joint venture company owned 50/50 by Mobil Shipping and Transportation Company (MOSAT) and Qatar Shipping Company. The vessel was built by Hyundai Heavy Industries Company Ltd. "We are pleased to add this new tanker to Mobil's service," said Gerhard Kurz, MOSAT president. "We look forward to this partnership with Mobil and the long-term success of the new joint venture company," said Abdulaziz Salatt, director of Qatar Shipping Company and sponsor of the Ras Laffan. The 105,775 dwt Ras Laffan is 800 ft. (244 m) long, 138 ft. (42 m) wide and can carry a cargo of 755,000 barrels of crude oil. The ship will be in service worldwide.

Qatar Shipping To Buy Two Vessels

Qatar Shipping Co. plans to buy two new vessels worth $24 million each. General manager Nasser Saeed al-Sulaitah said the decision to purchase the vessels, which would each transport 35,000 tons of clean petroleum products and petrochemical products, was made in light of the firm's plans to produce vinyl. He said the company has received offers from shipbuilding companies in South Korea, Japan and China and that the firm would study the offers and review their technical aspects.
